Hogwarts Part 13
Getting Down With Gryffindor
Duo sat in the Nurse's Office while Dr. Cornu looked Caitlin over. "Is she gonna be okay?" The two of them had been ushered there almost instantly after he had landed.
The man nodded. "She'll be fine. It just knocked her senseless. She has a little goose egg on her head, but it isn't dangerous. Now... YOU seem to have injured yourself as well. How did you manage to dislocate your shoulder?"
Duo frowned. "They didn't tell you? I was the one who caught her." Out of instinct, he backed away as the doctor approached. "What are you going to do?"
Doctor Cornu smiled kindly. "I have to put your shoulder back in place." He rolled his eyes as Duo continued to back away. "Come come, now! That must hurt! Stand still so I can reduce it."
Duo froze and then held a hand out. "WHAT are ya gonna do? Nuh-uh! NO WAY! You are not getting within one foot of me! It's fine! I'll just wait for Heero to show up and he'll take care of it!"
Dr. Cornu scoffed at Duo's words. "Heero Yuy? You'll trust a boy from Slytherin, but you won't trust me?"
"He trusts me because I've fixed a dislocated shoulder for him before." Heero walked in and looked Duo over. "Same one, huh?"
Duo nodded with a sheepish grin. "Yeah. Hey! That was fast! I thought I told you to stay on the field!"
Heero walked over to Duo and gently touched Duo's shoulder. "I did. I went for the fastest way to get off the field and come aid you."
Duo let out a puff of air, blowing at his bangs. "Translation... you caught the Snitch, so now you're Slytherin's Seeker."
"Yes. Now hold still while I..." He quickly wrenched Duo's arm so his shoulder was back in place, wincing as Duo yelled in pain. He gently rubbed Duo's shoulder and helped Duo sit down. "I'm sorry, but you know I do things as quickly as possible." He gently wiped some sweat off of Duo's forehead with his fingers and moved so he managed to caress Duo's face before pulling his hand away.
Duo smiled weakly at Heero. "It's okay. It wasn't as bad as the first time around." He winced in the memory of the agony he'd been in after Heero had busted him out of that Oz cell. Heero had tended to his shoulder and a few of his other more minor injuries before bringing him to a hospital.
Doctor Cornu was not happy. "Are you trained in the medical field?"
Heero grinned and nodded. "I was trained for all possibilities. I ask that you please don't request more information than that."
Dr. Cornu opened his mouth to ask for said information, but closed it again when he saw the looks on both boys' faces and decided it was best not to ask. "Mr. Yuy... please see to it that Mr. Maxwell gets to his room."
Heero nodded and headed for the door with Duo behind him. He made sure to keep at a slower pace. Duo never had been a fan of pain, and it pierced Heero's heart to know he could do nothing for him. "When we get to your room, I'll put a wet cloth on your shoulder and heat it up. Moist heat is the best thing for strained muscles."
Duo smiled and nodded. He felt a small ball of warmth in his heart as he followed Heero. "Hey... you know what I just realized?"
Heero glanced over his shoulder. "No... what did you just realize?" He stopped and waited for Duo to be beside him, and then walked side by side with him. Heero glanced at Duo and blinked when he saw a faint blush tinting the beautiful American's cheeks.
"We just reached the stage we were at the end of the original war. That warm stage between friendship and something else." He blinked as he was pulled into Heero's arms briefly. "Heero?"
"Thank you, Duo. You don't know what that means to me." Heero released Duo and smiled at him before continuing his way to Gryffindor.

-Heero and Duo sitting in a tree! Hey... get any kissyface in yet?-
Duo grinned at Shi-chan. He felt much better after his nap, and Heero had done wonders for his shoulder. It was only a twinge now. "And where have you been all morning? I could have used the support out there."
Shi-chan curled up on a pile of blankets and started washing her paws. -I was hunting! SOMEONE was so nervous at breakfast, that he didn't remember my sausage! Besides. From what I heard, you didn't NEED the support! Flew right in and saved a housemate! Did you know that you won back all the points that the other guy lost this house with that stunt of yours? PLUS another forty for catching the Snitch even when injured. You're a hero! SPEAKING of Heeros...- She fixed Duo with a look. -What was that I heard about him giving you the huggies? You warming up to him?-
Duo smiled at her. "Yeah... it's like he's changed his way of thinking. He's trying so hard, and I can't help but melt when he looks at me like he's been doing. I never stopped loving him."
-Good! Peace and I were having a nice long talk and SHE said that Heero seemed to change. He was pale and worried-looking until the sorting ceremony. Then he seemed to be unhappy and elated at the same time. She actually WISHED she could ask him why.- She stretched. -From what Tiger said by way of Trowa... OH! Him and Quatre ARE an item now! ANYWAY... it seems as if Heero's been looking non-stop for you. He came here only because he had a feeling that coming here would help him find you.-
Duo frowned in puzzlement. "If Heero was worried, why didn't he say so? He told me HILDE had been worried, but never mentioned himself."
-My guess is you were so angry at him for walking out on you, you didn't give him a chance. From what you've told me about him, he had a hard time expressing his feelings. The day of the sorting ceremony was an emotionally difficult one for you.- She stood up. -You'll forgive me for running out after I share gossip, right? I have a date with Tiger! He found a nice little burrow of field mice that hasn't been hunted yet! We're gonna go and check it out!-
Duo chuckled as Shi-chan left. He started to turn as he heard the door behind him creak open, but was swallowed up by blackness.
