"Heero?"
"Yes, Duo?"
I took a minute to look around.
"Where am I?"
"You're in a hospital."
I nodded slowly. Sure, that made sense. But no. Not really.
"Why am I in a hospital?"
"Because you took a bullet to the leg."
RIGHT. I remembered that. It had been such a nuisance. Nicked an artery or something, I'd bled all over the plane. Everyone was grossed out. I suspected little Alan Chen didn't want to be a Preventer anymore.
"Did they fix it?"
"Yes, they did. Everything's fine."
That was good. I would have been pretty upset if they hadn't been able to fix it. Well, I suppose I'd have been dead. But I would have been a very unhappy ghost.
"Are you here to take me home now?"
"Not yet, Duo. Tomorrow."
Sucky. I liked home. I liked Heero too. I liked Heero in my home? My home with Heero? Something, something...Heerome? Homo?
"I think I'm on drugs."
"Yes, you are. But they tell me it should clear up in a couple hours."
Hospitals always gave me funny drugs. I didn't need drugs for a single bullet wound, did I? Uh oh.
"Where was I hit, Heero?"
"Just above the knee. Nowhere near the family jewels."
Ah. That man totally knew how to read me. It was why I loved him. Yes it was. Because he held my privates in as high regard as I did.
"I like my penis."
"Yes, you do. I like your penis too."
Heero was such a nice guy. I would totally marry him if I wasn't...shacked up with...that guy...what was his name? Started with an 'H'...
"I'm going to marry Heero!"
"Congratulations, Duo. I'm sure he'll say 'yes'."
Yes. Heero liked saying 'yes'. He liked it a whole hell of a lot more when I was saying 'yes', though, when I was screaming it, wailing it, crooning it as I begged for it.
"There's...something I want..."
"Jello?"
Jello? Noooooo. Not jello. Wait. Maybe jello. But later. What I wanted right now... I wanted... The thing I was begging for, crooning for, wailing for... Um... Jello?
"Heero? Do you love me?"
"Yes, Duo, I do."
I snickered; he said 'I do'. Hee hee.
"Heero, if you really loved me, you would bring me a cheeseburger."
"I have one right here."
I totally loved Heero. He was so very good to me. Like jello. Wait. Where was I going with this?
"I think I need a nap, Heero."
"I know, Duo. I'll be right here."
