The Princes' Choice Part 2
Quatre's trip was coming to an end he could see the city gates in front of him. As he passed through the gates the people cheered for the return of their prince. Quatre went up to the gates of the castle and went in. Guards greeted him.
"Prince Quatre, welcome home. Your parents are waiting for you in the main hall." A tall man helped Quatre down.
"Thank you Rashid." Quatre headed towards the main hall with Rashid fallowing him.
He entered the main hall and bowed to his parents. It never ceased to amaze him how different the desert was compared to the other kingdoms. Heero's family like Treize's and the Sanq had throne rooms with carved woods and gold. The royal families sat in high chairs of fine gold and jewels, which were called thrones. His family sat upon pillows that were placed on a platform above the main floor. His father sat towards the back and his mother sat next to him. All his sisters sat towards the front forming a 'v' shape. His place was next to his father, as the heir of the family.
"I have returned home to you, my father, as you requested of me." Quatre bowed to his father.
"I see. My thanks that you returned so quickly."
"It is what you asked. I came as soon as I heard."
"Yes, I am sorry that I had to cut your visit short with Prince Yuy. However we must see to you having a life mate. You are of the proper age now and we shall not wait any long. Come and sit next to me."
"Yes father." Quatre walked past his sisters and took his place next to his father.
Quatre looked out at his father's advisors. His father head adviser, the viseer, stepped forward. He was a short man, with dark hair cover by a turban. He had moustache that was thin and on both sides pointed up He was over weight and his robes hung loosely around him. Quatre had known this man most of his life, his was known as H. He was honest and Quatre had never sensed him to be dishonest.
"Sultan, we your advisors have sought out the wisdom of the great books. And through out these books we have learned that your son is very special." He paused to look at the sultan. "Your son has the ability to sense what others are feeling. He is an empath. He requires a life mate who can bring joy to the prince and yet not burden him with their feelings."
"And how are we to find him one such as that?" The sultana asked.
"I am afraid that the great books all say the same. Young Prince Quatre must go out in search of his life mate. The books say that he will know his life mate when they meet."
Quatre tried not to pale. He had to go looking, and he had no idea what he was looking for. How would he know what it was when he came upon it. Didn't his father say it was time for him to have a life mate? What if he never found one?
"Rashid!" His father called. Rashid entered the room and bowed. "Gather forty men including yourself and prepare to go with my son in his search for his life mate."
"Sultan, if I may?" H asked and the sultan nodded. "Not that I do not think the young prince needs to be guarded. But forty men are surely to scare a future life mate away. Perhaps two or three."
"Very well."
"Sultan, I know who I wish to come." Rashid said, "I, and Abdul should be plenty to protect young Prince Quatre."
"Very well, Rashid. I trust your judgment. Quatre prepare to leave."
"Yes Father."

"HEY!!!"
"Agh!" A boy look up from tending to a doe's injured leg, "Don't do that. You know how much I dislike it, Duo." He said to his friend.

"Gomen nasai, Trowa. I was just having some fun." Duo sat down next to the doe. "I didn't mean to scare you." He said to the doe as he petted its head. Duo watch as his friend tended to the doe's leg.

Well okay you could only see one, but Duo knew he had two. Trowa always took care of the animals in the forest. In fact Trowa was the only human any creature of the forest was safe to be with. "What are you going to do?"
"Huh?" Trowa finished with the doe and looked up at Duo. "What are you talking about Duo?"
"You can't stay here for the rest of your life. What are you going to do?"
"What brought that up? You never ask me things like that."
"Trowa, we have known each other for awhile, I'm starting to worry about you. I'm afraid you might be lonely."
"Aa. Duo, you shouldn't worry. Come let's get something to eat."
