The Princes' Choice sequel Part 7

Heero walked the halls in a daze. What Trowa had told him was mind boggling. Not only what he told every one at breakfast but also what he had said in private. Heero was prepared to bond with Duo. But he never thought of this.

Not only would they be sharing life-energy, that could make them immortal. But Duo and the tree would be pumping magic through him. They would be one in so many ways that Trowa didn't want to count.

Heero stopped and realized that he was at the tree and where they were going to be bonded at. He walked up to the trunk and put his hand on it like he had seen Duo do before. Nothing. And then he felt something very faint. Like the tree was pulsing. After a minute or two Heero walked away to get ready.

Duo stood before the mirror and looked at himself. He wore a white shirt that didn't fasten in the front except for a small part near the waist. It showed off his chest. The sleeves were loose and had a slight ruffle at the wrist. He wore light purple pants that had a jagged edges at the bottom. He wore no shoes. After all what magical being wears shoes? His hair was curled all over. Part of it was up to show off his ears. Flowers were woven into his hair. He even had a vine anklet around his left ankle. All in all he thought he looked great. He decided that for effect he would sprinkle pixie dust on his face, hands, and feet.

Heero stood at the base of the tree. The holly man stood on a small platform. Behind Heero, Quatre stood as best man. The King and Queen sat in thrones especially made for the bonding. Relena sat sobbing in the middle of everyone. Emperor and Empress Chang sat in front holding hands of all things. Trowa stood right behind where Duo would stand. However Duo was late.

The servants were at a loss as to where Duo had gone. He wasn't in his room or anywhere else in the castle. Duo sat on a branch of the tree, watching everything calmly. Finally it was time to begin. Vines wrapped around his waist and around his arms and slowly lowered him to the ground. Trowa had just happened to look up and saw Duo being lowered. The sight of Duo made him gasp. Heero heard the gasp and looked up. He to gasped, as did every other person who was present.

Duo was sat on the ground gently. his head bowed. The vines unwrapped from him and he looked up and right into Heero's eyes. Heero swore he was drowning in those violet pools of Duo's.

Through out the whole ceremony Heero and Duo looked only at each other and no other. Finally Heero vowed to never love another and Duo did as well.

"...pronounce bonded for life and may no other interfere with their love. Your highness you may seal your bond with a kiss."

Heero and Duo moved closer to one another. Heero lifted his hand and swept back a strand of hair. Then he leaned in and kissed Duo gently on the lips. Duo returned the kiss, his eyes sliding shut and marvelling in how soft Heero's lips were. Finally they broke the kiss and looked out at the guests.

"Honored guests I present to you the future King, Prince Heero Yuy and his... um... Prince? Duo."

The guest clapped and cheered for the two. They retreated into the castle ballroom where every one gave the two their blessing. Well almost everyone. Relena was not happy. Dorothy just stood beside her for the most part.

Relena walked away from Dorothy and up to Heero and Duo. "Heero, we could have been so happy. I'll always love you. You're a good prince taking this so well."

Duo was annoyed. This was his bonding day, how dare she make it sound like Heero didn't want him. Duo's eye flashed with anger. Across the room Trowa got sight of Duo.

"Uh oh." Trowa said softly.

Quatre turned to him. "What? What's wrong?"

"Duo's angry."

Quatre turned to where the happy couple was. "How can you tell?"

"His eyes are glowing."

"What's he going to do?"

"I have no idea, but it can't be good."

Duo glared at Relena. "How dare you." Duo growled. Relena looked at him puzzled. "How dare you say that Heero doesn't love me?" Heero looked at Duo in shock. "Heero is MINE!" The whole ballroom looked at Duo. "You have your own. Do not disgrace her by dismissing her. Heero is NOT yours. He NEVER was! DEAL with it or face my wrath!"

"Heero?" Relena whimpered.

"DON'T call for him! Call for Dorothy. Leave Heero be. If you truly love him like you claim you will let him be and let him love who HE wants. NOT who YOU want!" Sparks of magic flew from Duo's hands. Heero laid a hand on his shoulder. Duo looked at him.

"Don't hurt her Duo. She will be leaving soon. Once she is bonded we won't have to deal with this."

Duo put his arms around Heero and hugged him. Then he looked at Relena. "Mine!" He growled.

Dorothy came up about that time. "Your highness, my congratulations to you both for your bonding." Dorothy smiled at them both, which sent shivers up Duo's back. Dorothy then turned to Relena. "My princess, you look pale. Why don't we sit down and have something to eat and drink." Dorothy led Relena away.

Duo turned to Heero. "She's a witch." He whispered.

Heero raised an eyebrow. "Relena's just confused."

"No no, not that brat. Her friend."

"Lady Dorothy?"

"Hai! She's a witch."

"How can you tell?"

"I can feel the magic rolling off of her."

Trowa and Quatre came up to them. "Friend Heero. Congratulations!"

"Thank you Quatre."

"I have some bad news. Trowa and I will be leaving the day after tomorrow. I am sure my family is anxious for my return."

"I understand."

Duo turned to Trowa. "You're leaving?"
