The Wedding Plotter Part 3

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Wufei jumped out of bed at the sound, blushing a bright red as if he expected the entire house party to come bursting in at the next moment.

Relena pulled the pillow over her head.

"Breakfast in an hour!" A cheerful voice called through the door. Wufei didn't recognize it, but it made sense to send someone around since the cottages lacked phones.

"Thank you!" He called back and heard the sound of footsteps receding.

Relena sat up in bed and glared blearily at him. "Shh!! Not so loud!"

Apparently she wasn't a morning person, Wufei noted. "Do you want the shower first?" He asked.

She rubbed her eyes and shook her head. "No, you can go first." She looked at him and her eyes widened. "You...um... look like you're ready for one." Relena bit her lip and sent a hand questing under the blankets. She pulled out a ball of fabric and tossed it at Wufei before turning to bury her head in the pillow.

Wufei looked down at the fabric and cursed. Damn childish habit- of all the nights to do this...!

He headed quickly for the bathroom, clutching his pajama pants to his chest, face flaming.

Once the door was closed behind him, the rush of the shower masking the sound, Relena burst into giggles.

She couldn't help it. His expression when he realized!

When she finished, she curled back up on the pillows with a satisfied smile- at least there was one thing she didn't have to leave up to her imagination anymore...

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Duo groaned and snuggled closer to his pillow.

His eyes opened wide when his pillow snuggled back. He was tucked firmly against Heero's side, his head resting on Heero's shoulder, his leg wrapped around Heero's legs... they hadn't gone to sleep like this... he was almost sure...

Though last night Heero had offered to share his pillow- and Duo's world had shifted, just a bit, opened itself just a little to new possibilities.

"Breakfast in an hour!" A voice called from the other side of the door.

"Thank you!" Heero called back, his arms tightening around Duo when the other man tried to move. "Relax, we have an hour. No rush."

"Uh... okay," Duo managed, a little disconcerted. This... this wasn't quite the same as sharing a pillow...

Heero brushed a hand over Duo's cheek. "You okay?"

"Are you? I mean, I'm the one that's...uh... all over you..."

"I like it."

Duo's world shifted a little more. "Uh... really?"

Heero smiled. "Really." He moved slightly, turning to face Duo. "Though... it makes me want to try something else."

"Really?" Duo said again and mentally kicked himself. He knew more words than that!

Heero leaned closer; let his lips just barely touch Duo's. "Can I?"

Duo remembered another word. "Please."

Then he forgot them all again as Heero pressed a warm kiss on his mouth.

Dorothy eyed the empty seats across the table. "Hm. Where do you suppose they are?" She said with a grin to Une.

"Hopefully having a good time," Une smirked back. "What I want to know is why Chang seems permanently red this morning." She inclined her head toward his seat at another table. Wufei sat there, his eyes on his plate, obviously ignoring the cheerful chatter of his three table companions.

"Hm, and have you seen the looks Lena's been giving him? I'll have to ask her later what happened." Dorothy smiled wider, her eyes moving over to where Mariemeia was chatting happily with one of Quatre's nephews.

The door closest to them opened and in walked their tablemates, both looking slightly damp, Dorothy noted, as if they had just hurried out of the shower. They sat down and a flurry of good mornings were exchanged.

"Sleep well?" Dorothy asked and was amused to see Maxwell's face turn slightly pink.

"Very well," Heero answered as he poured a cup of coffee and placed it in front of Duo. He was smiling, Dorothy noted with amusement. So... things must be going well.

"Are Trowa and Quatre here?" Duo looked around the room.

"Nope, their respective siblings have them squirreled away in here somewhere- they're not allowed to see each other before the wedding you know." Une smiled. "I suspect that's one of the reasons that it's so early in the day."

Quatre smiled when Duo entered the room. His sisters were fluttering about, brushing his tuxedo, talking to each other in high excited voices. They welcomed Duo with an outpouring of warmth, assured him that his tuxedo looked perfect on him and could he be a dear and talk to Quatre? Calm him down?

Duo thought Quatre looked perfectly calm. He perched on the bed next to the soon-to-be-married man and grinned. "Nervous?"

"Not a bit." Quatre grinned back. "Well, maybe a little. I want things to go well..."

"I'm sure they will."

"But I can't see that-" Quatre gestured at the door with a frown.

"Rather be in the trenches, hm?"

"Always." Quatre chuckled. "How are things going for you? Enjoying the weekend?"

Duo felt himself turn red. "Um... yeah. Very much."

Quatre tilted his head to the side. "Something good happen Duo?"

"Yeah," Duo's voice dropped a little. "Just... still can't quite believe it..."

Quatre raised an eyebrow. "That sounds faintly worrisome. What happened Duo?"

"Well, last night... you know those couches of yours aren't too comfortable..."

Quatre's lips curved in a faint smile. "Well, they're old- back from when my father first built the cottages."

"Oh, well, anyway, cause the couch was uncomfortable- Heero and I had to share the bed."

"You've done that before."

"But we didn't share the pillows! And then this morning, we, uh..." Duo got stuck.

"Finally did something about that attraction you have for him, hm?"

"Well... yeah."

"So what's the problem Duo?"

"I... I don't know. I mean is it a one-time thing? Was it just cause I was there?" Duo rumpled up his bangs. "And I now sound like a complete girl."

Quatre had to bite his lip. He smacked Duo lightly on the back of the head. "Duo, stop and think. This is Heero. You know him better than anyone. What do you think his intentions are?"

Duo's eyes widened as he considered this aspect. "Oh..."

Quatre mentally patted himself on the back. So far so good...

Trowa looked up when Heero entered the room.

"Hold still," Cathy said to Trowa as she fussed with his tie. Trowa gave Heero a rueful glance over his sister's head.

"Makes me glad I settled for clip-on," Heero said when she finished.

Cathy rolled her eyes as Trowa chuckled. "Can I trust you to keep him here until the ceremony Heero? I have to go get dressed."

"Of course."

Cathy kissed her brother's cheek and hurried out of the room.

"Having a good time?" Trowa asked Heero when the door closed behind her.

"The best," Heero noted Trowa's smile and lifted an eyebrow. "Why do I think my rooming with Duo was somehow planned?"

Trowa blinked innocently. "I don't know what you mean."

"Right." Heero shook his head.

"Are you complaining?"

"Not in the slightest." Heero's smile changed slightly and Trowa nearly laughed.

"So- finally decided that Quatre was telling you the truth all this time?"

"Maybe," Heero lifted a shoulder. "We'll see what Duo does after this weekend..."

"Have a little faith in him, Heero."

"I do," Heero leaned against the wall. "Just... I've wanted this for so long. It's hard to believe that I have it..."

Trowa smiled. "Heero- you've had it for a long time. It's about time you've finally realized that."
