I hadn't been paying attention to the numbers on the drabbles until someone pointed it out to me in the last post. *is a bad fangirl* So for this one, #22, I went with my usual 22 universe... Mage vs Guard. Heero really needs to think things through first...
Mage vs. Guard Halloween Drabble 5
"I'm not going."
"She asked for you especially." Heero didn't look away from the book in front of him. "It's only a short meeting, you'll be only two buildings away. I'll be fine."
Duo crossed his arms over his chest. "No."
"I promise you I won't go anywhere without you."
"What if an emergency crops up?"
"I'll wait for you."
"What if it's a can't wait emergency?"
"How often do we really get those?" Heero countered and then frowned. "Wait- don't answer that." He looked up from his book and sighed. "Truly Duo, I learned my lesson. I won't do anything dangerous without you. Promise."
"I know you mean that- but what if something comes up? I know you- you'll go off thinking it's not dangerous- just like you did with that insane old teacher of yours and-"
"I won't stir a step out of these rooms until you come back."
"What if something comes here?"
Heero rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Relena is expecting you."
"She doesn't need me."
"She's dealing with some of the people that saw you fight in the last tournament. Yes, she does."
"Chang fought in it too."
Heero straightened up and frowned. "All right. I wasn't going to do this again, but there's not really an alternative."
"Do what?" Duo eyed him suspiciously. "You can't transform me into anything, remember?"
"I do." Heero took a deep breath and recited the spell.
Two Duos blinked at him.
"Now one of you can go and one can stay. Happy?"
They grinned. "Very."
"Oh no! Don't even!" Heero held his book up as a makeshift shield. "Relena is waiting. Remember you speak together- so watch what you say in that meeting."
"Or here," the Duos grinned wider. One headed for the door, the other went back to the sofa and sat down.
Heero mentally congratulated himself and returned to his book.
So absorbed was he that he didn't notice the door swing open an hour or so later. The Duo on the sofa looked up and grinned at the sight of his double.
Quietly, he got to his feet as his double closed the door. Carefully, they approached the mage, one on either side.
Heero, his mind still on the material in the book, glanced up and found himself bracketed.
"What-?" He started and the Duos pounced.

"Heero missed his morning classes," Chang said to Relena the next day.
She grinned. "I know. I sent Winner to cover them. Duo warned me yesterday that Heero would be missing today."
"Do I even want to know why?"
Relena shook her head and laughed. "No."
