Mage vs. Guard Drabble 4
Review
Heero lifted his eyebrow at the stack of forms Wufei handed him. "What are these for?"
"For Duo."
"Why do I have to give him paperwork? You do it."
Wufei rolled his eyes. "You have to fill it out. He's your guard, you get to do his review."
"So, let me get this straight. I have all of my classes to teach this week- including the demon summoning one, the usual five council meetings, plus tracking down that spell for Relena, and finishing up the required potions for the newbies - and you are giving me a stack of paperwork to fill out?"
Wufei took a cautious step backward. Heero's expression clearly indicated that he was waiting for an answer that would give him an excuse to turn the Captain into a frog.
"It's not that much-" he protested and Heero snorted.
"If he gets a bad review what happens? Is he still my guard?"
"No, we just give him extra training."
"Like the last extra training you tried to give him? The one where you had to replace all the practice dummies?"
"Um, no. Just a few lectures on being more personable- some tips on how to get along with his mage better."
The expression on Heero's face made Wufei inch towards the door.
"So, you think Duo has trouble getting along with me?"
Wufei had to bite down on the immediate response of 'doesn't everyone?'
"You did kick him out of your tower for two days last month."
"Yes, right after that doppelganger incident. It was a matter of survival." Heero's eyebrow lifted. "You remember that one don't you? The one where you forgot to tell me that the spell didn't wear off?"
"That was her ladyship! It wasn't me." Wufei had reached the door. "Just fill out the paperwork- I'll pick it up later this week."
He ducked out of the door just as Duo was entering.
"Hey Captain-" Duo pivoted as Chang made his hasty way down the stairs. "Bye Captain." He looked at Heero. "Did you threaten to turn him into something?"
"No. But it has possibilities." Heero tossed the sheaf of paperwork at Duo. "Here, fill this out."
Duo blinked at it. "Performance review? But aren't you-"
"I think you're more qualified to talk about your performance," Heero sighed and turned back to his book. "I have work to do."
Duo just chuckled. "So do I if you think you aren't qualified to judge my performance."
"I don't think they mean that kind." Heero sighed as Duo's fingers brushed the back of his neck. "Seriously- it's all yours."
"If you say so," Duo rubbed the back of Heero's neck, soothing away the tension. "Found the spell you needed yet?"
"Not yet. These journals are a mess. I know it's in here somewhere."
"You've been looking for days. Seriously, Heero- give it another hour and if you can't find it, then let me get us some dinner and heat the bath for you. Another all nighter of looking for that spell and you'll turn your first-years into toads."
"They are toads already," Heero muttered. "Wouldn't be that much of a change."
"Heero-"
"Fine. Fine. An hour and I'll stop for the night- the bath and food sounds good."
"And afterwards I'll help you fill in my performance review." Duo laughed in his ear. "I'll do my best to make a good impression."
Heero cracked a smile. "I'm sure you will."

Chang blinked at the pages in front of him, feeling his face burn. Carefully picking them up, he shoved them into Duo's folder without reading past the first page. He really didn't want to know.
Though it looked like Heero didn't have anything to complain about. Lucky bastard.
