H/D Sand

"Come on Heero! You promised you'd go!"

I remembered promising no such thing and said so. "Besides," I added, looking at Duo's neon green swim trunks, "I don't even own a swimsuit. Or a beach towel..."

Duo grinned. "Oh, I know that." He pulled a bag out from behind his back and thrust it at me. "Swim trunks, towel, everything you need. So go put them on and let's go."

I really should've just tossed the bag back at him and closed the door, but then the damn bastard tilted his head down and looked up at me through his bangs. I knew that look.

"Please?" He said, and I knew I was trapped.

"I would think you had enough of beaches during the war," I snapped as I went back towards my bedroom with the bag.

"Ah, some of my fondest war memories. Forging our friendship on the sand..."

I tossed the bag on my bed and went to look for a t-shirt. Duo leaned against my doorframe and watched. "Do you mind?" I asked as I pulled off my polo shirt.

"Not at all." He grinned. "I just want to see your reaction to the swim trunks I got you."

That did not bode well. I opened the bag and took a cautious peek inside.

Duo was lucky he was out of strangling range.

"I am not wearing those."

"You already agreed to go."

"I can wear regular shorts."

He pouted. "That's no fun. What am I going to ogle for the rest of the day then?"

"Scat!" I tossed a pillow at him and he vanished into the hallway. Why did he persist in saying things like that? I never thought I had given myself away... and if I had it wasn't like Duo to be cruel like that...

With a sigh I pulled on the Speedos and covered them up with a worn pair of shorts. Hell if I was taking the shorts off though. I would sit on the sand and watch Duo swim.

I don't know who I thought I was fooling. The beach was practically deserted, only one lone family a long ways down from us. It was hot and the water looked inviting- besides, Duo kept chasing me around with buckets of water. At least in the water I stood half a chance.

The sand was gritty under my bare feet, the water cool against my skin. Duo smiled at me. "It's not bad?"

"No," I smiled back. "It's nice actually."

He moved closer, reached out a quick hand and tugged at my waistband. "Ah," his fingers brushed my skin. "I think it's be nicer without the shorts."

I rolled my eyes. "The Speedos are staying covered up."

"You have the Speedos on under there?"

"Of course- what were you..." I felt my face flush. "Duo! Stop teasing me!" I turned my back on him and headed up to the edge of the water.

He caught me- he was always faster- his arms sliding around my waist, holding me in place. "Is it so bad a thought?"

He sounded wistful.

"You don't mean it," I said without thinking, "you aren't serious!" A moment later I was stretched out on the wet sand, Duo's mouth on mine...

"Quite the contrary," he said after a moment, his sand-covered fingertips sliding over my collarbone. "I've never been so serious..."
