Halloween Drabble 52
"All right, what are you maniacs up to now?"
"What makes you think we're up to anything? We're just doing what the Preventers asked us to do-"
Heero snorted. "Please. I think the Preventers asked you for helpful solutions? Not for refined methods of torture. Where is he?"
"We aren't torturing him," G snapped and turned his attention back to the monitor in front of him. "See? His brainwaves indicate relaxation. He's fine."
"Like I can believe any of your readings. Look, Duo left me a note- he told me exactly what you were planning on doing."
"Did he tell you he volunteered?"
"Yes, but that's beside the point. You know he gets bored when he's on desk duty. Where is he?"
"He's in there," J indicated a large black box in the corner of the room. "He's perfectly comfortable."
Heero frowned. "Is that an anti-gravity device on that thing?"
"It is supposed to be a sensory deprivation chamber," J pointed out. "If he's floating, then there isn't anything touching him."
"So, he's been floating, in the dark, with no contact for how long now?"
"About four hours."
"That's three times too long. Get him out."
"He's doing fine- relaxed, just like we said."
"Get him out now."
"He hasn't been without contact- we hooked him up to a virtual display. We've been running scenarios."
"What sort of scenarios?"
"Just some of the old training ones- you remember- from the war?"
"And you have the nerve to tell me that he's relaxing?"
"Well," G frowned at the monitors. "Now that you mention it- that is kind of odd."
Heero took a deep breath, pulled out his gun and pointed it at J. "I said, let him out now."

"I told you, I'm feeling fine," Duo protested as both Heero and Sally glared at him.
"Duo, feeling fine and actually being fine are two different things." Sally made a note on his chart and looked at Heero. "He doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects, but keep an eye on him anyway, okay?"
"Accepted," Heero nodded as Duo slid off the exam table.
"If he starts to seem deranged- well, more so than usual- bring him back in." Sally said and left them alone. Duo made a face as he pulled on his shirt.
"I'm fine. All my brain activity is in the normal ranges- I don't see why you two are so freaked out."
"Duo, you let the docs experiment on you. That's not considered a sane and healthy thing to do as it is."
"Hmph," Duo rolled his eyes. "I was tired of filing."
Heero opened the door and ushered Duo out into the hallway. "I see we'll have to get you back on active duty soon. At least you didn't injure your shoulder more."
"Nope," Duo patted it. "Feels fine." He bounced a little on the balls of his feet, setting his braid to swinging. "It was good to feel like I was doing something again, even if it was just some virtual scenarios. Nice and relaxing."
Heero pushed the button for the elevator. "I remember doing those during the war- I don't remember them being good or relaxing," he said dryly.
"Well," Duo shrugged. "Some of them started out really horribly, I admit, but the docs let me alter the world too- I could bring in whatever I wanted to deal with each one."
"Weapons and things? Your gundam?" Heero asked as the elevator arrived. That would have been nice...
"Exactly," Duo bounced onto the elevator and grinned. "Once I got the hang of it, I called up the one thing I knew could deal with each situation, dealt with it and then had some fun until the next one started."
"Let me guess," Heero had to smile back. "You called up Deathscythe and squished everything."
The doors slid closed and Duo's grin widened. "Nope. You."
"Me?" Heero found himself suddenly trapped in the corner by a smirking Duo.
"Of course you. Though I will say I prefer the original to the virtual..."
Heero managed to catch Duo's wandering hands. "Wait until we get home at least."
"Do I have to?"
"I'll call Une and let her put you back on active duty."
"It's a deal."
