This was supposed to be one of the drabbles- and then I realized it didn't really fit the prompt. So we will call it 'ficbit' and drop it here. It's Duo and Quatre having a little conversation. *grin* Oh, and I picture Tro's new bike as some awesome trike thing- don't know why.

"All right. Enough of this. What's wrong?"

"What makes you think something is wrong?" I scowled at Quatre when he chuckled.

"Please Duo, give me some credit. What have we been talking about for the last ten minutes?"

"Uh..." Crap. I couldn't really remember. "Trowa's new bike?"

Quatre shook his head. "Nice try, but no. So, what's wrong?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Okay. Then I get to guess. Hm..." He tapped his fork against the rim of his salad bowl thoughtfully. I refrained from tossing my water glass at him in retaliation.

"Quatre-"

"Let's see. You already said things were okay at work, so it can't be a work issue. So it must have something to do with your personal life."

"I'm not telling you anything. Pick a new topic."

Okay, it was a lame try, I admit it.

"How's Heero?"

I pointedly ignored his smirk. "Fine."

"When did you talk to him last?"

Hunching up over my plate, I muttered: "I don't know... about two weeks ago, I guess." Two weeks, three days, six hours... "How does Tro like his new bike?" I tried.

Quatre refused to follow my lead. "Is he still considering moving down here?"

"I don't know. Probably not."

"That's odd. He sounded pretty definite about it a few weeks ago- so did you."

"You must have misheard."

"I don't mishear things like that, Duo." He put his fork down and glared at me. "What's going on? Why isn't he moving?"

"We... had an argument," I looked away from Quatre, focused on my napkin. "I... I guess we broke up."

"You guess? What was the fight about?"

"I don't know. Something stupid."

"If you don't know, then how could it have been about something stupid?"

"Because it was," I said and bit my lip.

"Then call and apologize."

"Why should I have to-"

"Duo." Quatre doesn't often use that tone with me. "Do you think for one moment if you did apologize that Heero wouldn't turn around and do it too?"

"He already did," I muttered.

"Ah," Quatre's tone was full of enlightenment. "So, he called and apologized before you were finished sulking."

"I don't-" I started and then took a breath. "Okay, yeah... he did. And I told him not to call again." I blew out the breath and fiddled with my napkin some more. "I'm sorry I did, and I tried to call him yesterday and his phone was disconnected. His work said he left. So he's run off somewhere, or moved someplace else, and it's all my fault, what else is new? Can we talk about Trowa and his bike now?"

His lips curving into a smile, Quatre nodded. What was he so damn happy about? That I admitted my life sucked? "Sure we can. In fact, you can ask me what Trowa's doing with his bike right now."

I blinked at him. It couldn't be that easy. "Okay, so what's Tro doing to the bike now?"

"With the bike," Quatre corrected and picked up his salad fork again. "He's going to the shuttle port."

"Is he heading off to see Cathy?" Quatre wasn't usually quite so cheerful when Tro left on a trip- and why wasn't he there saying goodbye?

Maybe that's why he was happy that Heero and I had a fight? Misery loves company and all that shit?

"Nope. He's picking Heero up."

For a moment, I stared at him, not sure that I had heard the words. "What?"

"He's picking Heero up." Quatre checked his watch. "In fact his shuttle landed about five minutes ago if it was on time. Heero called us a week ago and asked if he could stay with us while he tried to make things up with you."

"You mean you knew and-"

"Do you want Trowa to drop him off at your place?" Quatre waved his cell phone at me. "Or we could keep him at ours for a few days if you want to continue playing hard to get-"

"You're a bastard, do you know that? I'm surprised Tro hasn't killed you yet."

He smirked at me. "Flattery will get you nowhere. Decided yet?"

I snatched the phone out of his hand. "Like I'd let Heero fall into your clutches."

Wisely, he didn't respond to that one, he simply winked at me as I hit the dial button. There were times Quatre's meddling could drive me insane. But other times... I was glad he was on my side.
