lilzazu asked for spring cleaning. Now honestly after watching Enchanted, I damn near put a cleaning army of helpful animal friends in here, but I just couldn't do it.... *is still giggling over that part*

Duo carefully put his key in the lock and turned it gently. It was well into the wee hours of the morning and he didn't want to wake his neighbors up if he could help it. Sometimes the old stealth skills came in handy.
He stepped quietly into the apartment and closed the door behind him. He put his briefcase down and paused. Something was different... something was wrong...
Quickly, he flipped on the light switch by the door. When his eyes refocused, he gasped in shock.
For just a moment he was tempted to open the door and check the number on it. Had he let himself into the wrong apartment? But the key had fit....
His eyes scanned the living room- so very different from the way he'd left it. The tv was still there- and his computer- but where was...?
He crept farther into the apartment, his eyes widening in shock when he looked at the kitchen.
Duo wasn't sloppy, he had never been sloppy. He had kept his place decently clean, hadn't ever felt embarrassed when someone came over unexpectedly. But... at the same time it was his place- if he wanted to keep a pile of clothes in the corner of the living room what did it matter? And so what if his books and disks were piled a little haphazardly on the shelves? It wasn't messy, it was lived-in.
But now... now it looked as if an army of maids had swept through the place. Appliances sparkled. The tile gleamed. His table of junk was now neatly organized. His books and discs now looked alphabetized...
Moving down the hallway he paused long enough to check the bathroom. The floor looked clean enough to eat off of- his towels were neatly folded.
The door to his bedroom was half closed. Duo wondered wildly what he'd find inside. A genie with an urge to clean? A lost princess and her army of woodland friends? Maybe a brownie or two?
He pushed the door open quietly. The bed had hospital corners, the piles of clothes were missing from the corners.
And the answer to the state of his apartment was curled up at the foot of his bed, on the floor, with the spare pillow and blanket.
Dropping down beside his house guest he reached out and poked a finger into the curve of a shoulder, dodging the hand that automatically rose to intercept the poke. "Heero."
"Duo," his friend opened an eye and regarded him steadily. "There you are."
"I was on a business trip. I didn't know you'd be in town." Not that he ever knew. Heero tended to visit at odd times and never said anything about what he'd been doing.
"I didn't tell you."
Too true. "Why didn't you take the bed?"
"Didn't know when you'd be back. Just needed a place to stay for a few days. Do you mind?"
"You know I don't." He'd said it often enough. "Thanks for the clean up."
Faint smile. "Thanks for the space to stay."
Duo rolled his eyes and lightly punched Heero's arm before getting to his feet. "You know you're welcome without the Cinderella routine."
"I know." Heero closed his eyes again.
"But if you're determined to help out- I wouldn't mind breakfast in bed."
That got him a genuine smile. "Only if you like burnt toast."
