Counting Down Part 2

Heero sat down in his chair with a faint sigh. Today had been even crazier than yesterday. If things went on like this by the end of the week they'd be taking him away in a straight jacket.

At the moment, that didn't sound half-bad. It'd be a rest at any rate...

He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath.

A soft thump indicated the arrival of his partner. He opened his eyes to find Duo sitting across from him, a cup of coffee cradled in his hands.

"No candy today?" Heero asked.

"It vanished," Duo leaned back in his chair and shook his head. "I suspect the night shift swiped it."

"Warned you."

"I know." Duo nodded towards his PC. A colorful line of post it notes, each adorned with a large black number hung from the bottom of the monitor.

"Four days? Are you sure it's not Friday you're counting down towards?"

Duo laughed and sipped at his coffee. "No, no. Like I told you, I'm marking time. I spent sometime thinking last week- and I sort of gave myself an ultimatum."

"Sounds serious."

"Yeah. There's something I really want- well, several somethings. If I don't do anything to get them in the next four days, then... well," Duo paused for a moment and stared at his cup.

"Then," Heero prompted.

"Then I guess I didn't want them as badly as I thought."

Heero was a little worried by the expression on Duo's face. But the other man was still being vague- so he obviously didn't want to be questioned. "Maybe you should focus on one to start- rather than a whole bunch of things."

Duo sighed. "Well, they all sort of focus around one thing. I just-" Before he could finish, Heero's phone buzzed.

"Une." He said, looking at the number.

"Damn it," his partner put down his cup. "Here we go again..."
