Californication Drabble 4
"Oh! Thank you Mr. Yuy!" The girl in front of him picked up her newly signed book and turned to Duo. "Can you sign this one for me too?"
Duo smiled and took the book from her. "Did you like it?"
"I loved it! What a great idea to have the two of you write a book together!"
Heero nearly laughed. The publishers hadn't thought so- they had felt his and Duo's style were too dissimilar- felt that their fan bases weren't the same.
So they'd done the book anyway- the publishers had read it and agreed to publish- and it was doing better than anyone had thought it would.
"We'll have to do another one," Duo agreed with the girl as he signed her book. Heero smiled at the next person in line. They had to be almost done. They'd only agreed to a couple of hours of signing after the reading- but the line was huge. He'd hate to disappoint anyone, but his hand was already cramping.
Books came and went, and he watched his signature begin to get more and more unreadable.
"Five more minutes," Duo said to him in an undertone. "And they just ran out of our books."
"Thank god." Heero whispered back. "But I don't think my hand is going to let go of the pen."
Duo chuckled as the next fan slid the book in front of Heero.
"Hello," Heero said as he looked up- and the next words died on his tongue.
No. It couldn't be. He was dead! Heero had seen the house!
"Jay," the old man smiled, his scarred face twisting. "I'm a big fan."
