Waiting for Santa
It was late Christmas Eve night. Heero was sleepover at Duo's home for the night and the next.
The children were very excited. After their supper and hot bath, the pair perched on the sofa and looked out of the window, adamant about waiting for Santa to show up.
The toddlers asked Duo's momma to extinguish the fire in the fireplace - they didn't want Santa to burn himself when he climbed down the chimney. A plate of cookies and a glass of milk were waiting for Santa on the kitchen table.
"Do you see him, Heero?" Duo asked.
Heero clear the frosted window a bit more. "No."
"Oh." Duo blew a breath on the window glass to clear up a bigger hole, hoping to see Old St. Nick.
It was getting very late, but Santa still hadn't shown up. The kids were starting to get sleepy, and they were having trouble keeping their eyes opened. But Duo really wanted to meet Santa. He went to grab the dog to the couch with him, and ordered it to bark if it saw Santa.
The two children slept curling in each other's arms on the couch, with the dog beside them.
When they woke up the next day morning, they found a couple of new boxes, wrapped with cheerful coloured paper, under the Christmas tree.
