Sushi Chef
I sat on the counter, watching Heero wash the cucumbers. Everything was laid out on the counter in front of me. There was the rice, cooling, and already mixed with vinegar. Another bowl of vinegar, and a knife. A bamboo thing that Heero had given me the name of before, but I forgot.
The other ingredients; egg, no, tamago was the right name. Artificial crab, avocado, sheets of seaweed.
I watched as Heero carefully cut the cucumber into strips for use.
Then, I stole one to nibble on when he was checking that he had everything.
Blue eyes glared and I grinned.
"Good thing I got extra just for that purpose," he said with a sigh.
"What's one less stick of cucumber?" I asked.
He is meticulous with his work, laying out the rice on the bamboo thing, spreading it evenly across the surface before he laid down the seaweed. Selecting his ingredients, he placed them down onto the seaweed, making sure that the food reached the ends in yet another even distribution.
Then, he rolled the entire contents together, gently squeezing it into a round shape. This he did for a few moments before he removed the bamboo sheet.
The knife was covered with vinegar before Heero meticulously cut each piece evenly, producing six pieces of the California roll.
I watched as he set them onto to the platter, and stole one.
A slap on the hand prevented me from grabbing it at first, but my left hand was sneaky and managed to get one when he was distracted it.
"I'm your taste tester," I told him.
"Now I'm short one piece."
"I could eat all of it, if you want."
"Then I'd be short six pieces."
"So, just make another one."
Heero glared and I held up my hands. "Okay, sorry! It was yummy. You know I love your sushi. You don't make it all that often either," I pouted. "You don't make it when I ask you to."
"It's a lot of work to make a few of them," Heero pointed out. "I wouldn't be making them if Relena were not pregnant and craving them, and Wufei was begging me desperately to avoid sleeping on the couch yet again. I'm lucky I didn't have to buy the orange fish eggs because she doesn't like them."
"You make sushi for a begging friend and his pregnant wife. And yet you don't make it for your lover. Even when he begs."
Heero looked at me, hands in the middle of setting the artificial crab down. "You are usually distracted by the sushi request by the mention of teriyaki chicken."
"It doesn't mean I don't think about it after you've thwarted me!"
He looked at me for a long moment. "You're sulking."
"I am," I agreed.
With a sigh, although his eyes were twinkling, he offered me another piece of sushi. I opened my mouth and made sure to suck in his fingers too, giving a kiss to them before pulling back to chew.
With a chuckle, he washed his hands and went back to his preparation.
"Can I try?" I asked.
He looked surprised. "Sure," he said. Finishing the one he had started, he gestured for me to take his place. I slipped off of my stool and went around the counter. After a moment, I looked at him.
"Aren't you going to tell me where to start?"
He grinned and shook his head. "I'm fairly sure you know how already, at least for laying down the ingredients."
True. I had watched him a few times. I tried to spread the rice evenly, and then laid the seaweed down before adding the other ingredients.
Heero's arms slipped around my waist and his chin rest on my shoulder as he watched me.
Then, a hand slipped up my shirt.
"That's a distraction," I informed him.
"It's all a part of the job," he said. "It's not like you aren't distracting, sitting there."
Fair enough. I bit my lip, trying to remember if I was rolling the sushi up properly. Then, his hands came over mine, guiding me. I mimicked his next action of shaping the sushi and his hands were still there, guiding me.
His hands returned to my waist when I dipped the knife into the vinegar and cut the roll neatly into six pieces.
Setting two back in place next to the four on the tray, I then held up a piece by my shoulder.
"Taste tester?" I asked.
He accepted the sushi and licked my fingers as I had licked his. "Tastes good," he said after he swallowed. "But I think it could be a little more firm."
"Huh. Can I try another one?"
"Go ahead."
I washed my hands to try again, adding a touch more rice this time, and then the ingredients. I offered him a cucumber stick, which he accepted, then returned to the task of rolling the sushi up.
This time, he didn't guide me, but before I removed the bamboo sheet he checked my work and seemed to pack it a little bit tighter.
"So it's harder than it looks," I commented, picking up the knife to cut the roll. I'd just placed the set of six onto the sushi tray when I felt Heero's hand cup my groin through my shorts.
"Did you mean the technique, or the actual sushi?" he asked in my ear.
"Heero..." I leaned against him as he touched me and he slipped his hand down my shorts to touch me. I could feel his hardness pressed against my backside. "I don't think this is what we should be doing when we're making sushi for a pregnant woman and her desperate couch-hating spouse."
"I'll tell Wufei I failed and tell him to go buy some."
"He's going to hate you for that."
"I don't care." Heero's lips were along my shoulder and then my neck, then by my ear, sucking on the lobe. "You distracted me."
"I think you distracted me, Heero," I chuckled, then moaned when his fingers spread wetness around the head of my hardness.
"You look good, being the domesticated one," Heero murmured. "You made the whole situation...sexy. Your hands working so carefully..."
"You threw the innuendo in there."
"I learn from the best. Screw the sushi. I'm hungry for...American food."
"I sincerely hope that the next half hour will not involve the screwing of any sushi."
Heero chuckled, drawing me away from the kitchen towards the living room. "Okay," he agreed. "The next half hour will only involve the screwing of..."
I fell down onto the couch and pulled him down with me, so close that our breaths mingled and our lips were close.
"Less talk, more action," I said.
And pulled him down for the most hot, distracting kiss I could.
