Two Programmers and Procrastination
Heero sighed, tired of looking between the computer monitor and his books. He sat back and picked up the piece of paper he probably could recite from memory by now, reading it over once again. With another sigh, he set it down. Maybe he'd have more thoughts on it if he took a break.
Swivelling in the chair, he turned away from the computer, nudging the books aside so that he could set his elbow on the desk. Leaning his hand against his fist, he tried to clear his mind.
A picture at the side of the desk caught his eye. It was a picture of him and his lover, and Heero was wearing a graduation gown. Studying the picture, Heero couldn't help but reflect on how he'd met Duo.
They were both programmers and he'd met Duo at the company where they had interned during the summer after Heero's third year and Duo's second year. They'd been compatible in more ways than one and certainly in more places than at work. The company had been very satisfied with their work and both of them had been hired once again after graduation.
The first time he'd seen Duo, his then new co-worker had offered a welcoming smile and was ready to share his many creative ideas. It was perhaps the most exhilarating and accomplishing project that Heero had ever started and completed at that time of his life.
They'd been together for four and a half years. Looking at the picture again, Heero could remember his graduation day as if it were yesterday when in fact four years had passed. Instead of going to the graduation party, Heero had gone with Duo to a nice dinner, and then Duo had gone home with him.
It was the first night Duo had ever spent with him, and it was the first time they had made love together since they had begun dating. Heero could recall almost every detail from Duo's hair to his words, his expression and the burning touches. He also remembered falling asleep with his lover in his arms, and waking up to find them still close together. The memory of Duo's face brought a small smile to his face.
A sound at the door of the study alerted Heero to Duo's presence. Duo was wearing business slacks and a blue shirt, looking very handsome as he smiled into the room at Heero.
"I hope that smile is for, or about me," Duo teased as he entered.
"I was thinking about our first time," Heero answered.
"Our first time what?" Duo asked.
Heero gestured towards his graduation photo and Duo glanced at it, smiling in recollection before leaning against the desk. He twined his fingers with Heero's. "Busy?"
"A little," Heero admitted. "The business aspects of this course are a bit ambiguous. I'd rather do more programming."
"You should have just stayed with me at work," Duo said, not for the first time.
"Well, they offered to pay to further my education," Heero said. "And I thought it'd be great if I could learn some more, get a higher degree, a little higher pay..."
Duo cut him off from their old discussion. "Have I told you how hot you look with your glasses?" he asked, touching the frame, fingers grazing Heero's forehead and then down his nose. He nudged the glasses up for Heero with a grin. "They make you look even nerdier than you are."
"So I've heard," Heero chuckled, then glanced at his books again, eyebrows furrowing a little at the thought of the assignment.
Duo fingered the tie that Heero had removed and left on the desk. "It just sucks to see you feel so stressed, doing hours at work and at school, and then at home too." He lifted the tie. "Since when did you have to wear a suit and a tie to school anyway?"
"Since we started presentations for this course." Heero gestured to his books. "This is going to take a while to do. I'm still trying to figure it out. Luckily, I've got a couple of weeks for it."
Duo slipped the discarded tie around Heero's neck and leaned down until their noses were almost touching. "Then let me show you the wonderful art of procrastination," he murmured before he straightened from the desk. He tugged lightly, guiding Heero up from his seat; Heero willingly followed. "This will all still be here in a couple of hours."
"I've just been procrastinating!" Heero pointed out.
"You'll benefit from the wonderful procrastination program I've got in mind for you. I'm sure I can kick start your brain after a little fun and relaxation."
"I'm sure you'll kick start more than that," Heero said as he followed Duo out of the study and towards the bedroom.
Duo stopped moving and tugged Heero closer so their lips could meet. Tongues twined together briefly before Duo pulled away, a sparkle in his eyes.
"We'll see how much ram you have then, Mr. Masters in Computer Science," Duo said, stepping into the bedroom. "Because I'm sure that I can easily run you into overdrive."
Heero smiled, reaching to tug Duo's shirt from his pants.
"We'll see about that."
