Hands-On Learning
Duo glared at his driveway.
The white snow glittered back innocently.
With a sigh, he began to shovel, piling the snow to the sides of the driveway along with the snow he'd put there two days ago.
Well, he and Heero. It sucked to have to shovel alone, he realized. Not only was the amount of work cut in half, but the task passed by quicker with someone to talk to, with someone to tease and toss a snowball at...
He paused in his work to make a snowball, throwing it at the trunk of the tree that stood at the foot of the driveway. Snow from the branches tumbled down and Duo muffled a curse.
Shovelling snow was decidedly more boring when Heero wasn't around for Duo to stare at. That intensity of Heero's focus on whatever his task was made him very good eye candy, not to mention the fact that they would always warm up with a hot drink, or some warmed cookies, or even making out on the couch...or the bed. Maybe more than making out.
Unfortunately, the snow had come a few hours earlier than predicted, and his blue-eyed lover was stranded somewhere along his route home from a conference.
Duo tried to console himself by thinking of the hot chocolate and marshmallows he'd purchased a couple of days ago. He had intended to share the treat with Heero, but at this point, he didn't feel like waiting. There must be a reward for his hard work, right?
At the end of the driveway, his actions were a little more forced as he shovelled away the snow that had fallen from the tree. He was just about done when he looked up to see Heero's car coming down the street. Standing aside, he grinned and waved as Heero drove in to park in the garage, wondering how Heero had managed to get home so quickly.
As soon as Heero alighted from his car a snowball hit him on the chest.
"You could have called ahead!" Duo huffed. "I'd have waited for you to shovel this drive!"
"Sorry," Heero said sheepishly. "I called twenty minutes ago but I guess you were already out here and didn't bring the cordless to the garage."
"I didn't," Duo admitted, turning back to his task and finishing off the driveway.
Heero waited for Duo and they headed in together. "Your ears are red and your cheeks are flushed," he said as he pulled off Duo's hat. Then, he leaned in for a kiss.
Duo melted into Heero's warmth, unzipping his jacket and letting it fall to the floor. Heero pulled back with a smile. "Hot chocolate?" he asked.
"I got marshmallows," Duo said. "I'll put the milk to boil and you go get changed."
Heero did as he was told and returned to the kitchen, sliding his arms around Duo's waist and kissing his cold ear. "You'll warm up fast, right?" he asked.
"Fairly fast," Duo said with a grin. "I have my own personal heater right here, don't I?"
"So...what do you want your personal heater to warm first?"
"Ears would be good," Duo sighed. Heero let his lips ghost over Duo's ear again before he covered both ears with his hands.
Duo chuckled as Heero warmed his ears and he concentrated on making their chocolate milk. Before long, he and Heero settled on the couch, curled together with their mugs.
"How was the conference?" Duo asked.
"Somewhat interesting, but slow, as usual," Heero replied. "And I don't want to talk about the conference."
"Okay, so what do you want to talk about?" Duo asked, setting his mug on the table beside the couch. Heero passed his mug to Duo, who set it next to his own.
"Nothing," Heero said, hugging Duo and leaning back, pulling his lover down with him. "Less talking. I've tactical exploring to do."
"Tactical exploring?" Duo asked, shivering when he felt Heero's hands slide up his shirt. He wiggled into a more comfortable position, eliciting a chuckle from Heero. "Tactical how?"
Heero eased Duo's shirt up and ran his finger up each of the vertebrae that formed Duo's spine. With a grin, he guided Duo's lips closer to his, speaking just before they kissed.
"I'll show you. Consider it a reward for shovelling the drive."
"Mm, I knew that taking action would benefit me."
"I'd argue that your actions offer us a mutual benefit...but we are aiming for less talking."
"Lead on, lover. You know I'm a hands-on kind of guy."
"I know that...and lucky for me, your hands on me feel damn good."
