Operation: Lost Boys Part 10
When the alarm clock went off the next morning, a hand shot out from under the comforter and swatted it off the nightstand. When the incessant ringing continued, one of the bed's occupants groaned and another pushed the warm blanket off.
Heero leaned down and picked the clock up. He looked at the time and walked to the window. He opened the window, unmindful of his unclothed state, and threw the noisy object out. He closed the window before crawling back into the warm haven of his bed and curling next to the bed's other occupant with a smile.
Duo turned over and smiled sleepily while he threw an arm over Heero. "Thanks, but I thought you LIKED getting up this early."
Heero grunted. "Never had a reason to stay in bed before." He placed a kiss on Duo's bare shoulder. "Go back to sleep. You must be tired since you didn't get all that much sleep last night, AND you've been sick."
Duo nodded and let himself drift off to sleep.
Heero was used to getting up that early, but he knew Duo wasn't. He had thrown the alarm out more in hopes that it wouldn't wake Duo up. Concerned at the slight rasp in Duo's breathing, Heero placed a hand against his face and forehead. 'He feels too warm. I'll have Sally check his temperature later.'
*****
Sally sighed when she checked Duo's temperature. "I thought I told you to take it easy until you were completely over this. What were you doing last night?"
Heero sighed. "It's partially my fault." He blushed slightly when Sally turned questioning eyes to him.
Sally didn't miss the blush on both faces and she chuckled gently. "Sorry, you two, but you're gonna have to keep your physical relationship on the back burner for a few days... until Duo's fever breaks." She pulled out some medication and placed it on the table. "This is to help the cough... and there's some vaporub in the bathroom to ease Duo's breathing." She shook her head. "Other than that, just keep applying cool cloths to Duo's forehead."
Heero glanced at Duo to see that he had fallen asleep, then blinked when Sally stuck the thermometer in HIS mouth. "Mmph?"
"Your face is too flushed without that blush. Your eyes don't look right." She sighed and smiled a little. "You've spent a great deal of time near Duo since he got his cold, and I wouldn't be surprised if you caught it." Her face softened. "At least you won't be alone. I can't risk the entire house getting a cold now... so close to New Years Eve. Now..." She took the thermometer. "Uh-huh!" She pointed to the bed. "In... and be glad I don't stick you by yourself! I'll send Harmony up later. Apparantly Duo is immune to all the exotic diseases, and she is immune to all the common ones." With that, she left the room.
Heero sighed and crawled in next to Duo. He hushed the confused little mew that the braided pilot emitted. "Just me. Looks like we're in the same boat."
Duo groaned. "Oh man! I'm sorry, Hee-chan!" He coughed a few times. "I didn't mean to make YOU sick."
Heero pulled Duo close. "Don't be sorry... I'M not! I like holding you, koi."
Duo smiled a little and gave into the cuddle. "Koi... I like the way you say that." He draped an arm across Heero's waist. "I wish I could do more right now, but my head hurts like crazy and I'm so tired."
Heero caressed his beloved's face. "You do enough, koi, by just being here with me. I didn't have this growing up, no matter how much I wanted or needed it." He kissed Duo's forehead tenderly. "Sleep now. I'll be here when you wake up." He sighed as Duo relaxed. 'See, Dr. J? I am perfectly capable of making my own decisions! I'm not just some weapon that you created, I'm a human being!'
Duo mumbled. "Hee-chan... stop thinking about J and relax. You only get this tense when you're contacted by that bastard. Forget him and rest."
"Right. I'll think about you, instead." Heero grinned as Duo fell asleep again. 'Baka... MY baka...'
*****
Harmony looked up when Triton walked into the dining room. "Where's Quatre? He missed breakfast!" She blinked when he gave her a look. "What? What'd I do?"
Triton sighed and sat down. "We have to tell that brother of yours that next time he shouldn't wait until you finish before he starts anything."
Harmony blushed and shook her head. "What does THAT have to do with the price of tea in England?"
Triton shook his head. "Quatre's an empath. He can sense strong emotions. With all six of us last night, he was overloaded. Although I doubt he's sorry. He had one heck of a ride." He grinned as Harmony blushed. "He was still smiling this morning. What time did you two finish anyway?"
Wufei walked in. "Not that it's any of your business. Morning, Nataku."
Harmony smiled up at Wufei. "Good Morning, airen!" She tilted her head up when he bent to kiss her. She gazed lovingly at him. "Where did you disappear to?"
Wufei smiled at her. "Just talking with your mother." He almost laughed as her eyes widened to stare at him. "She's not a stupid woman. She would have figured it out herself after a while."
Harmony shook her head. "That's not the point, Fei. I wanted to tell her with you."
Wufei smiled. "I understand, but I didn't ask her for your hand... only if I could court you. I see no reason to go behind her back."
Triton frowned. "Since when have you started calling my cousin Nataku, Wufei?"
Harmony smiled. "Since last night. He said I was his goddess that he found during war. Very poetic, I thought!"
Quatre chose that moment to stumble into the room. He was grateful for the solid support Triton provided. "Morning." He giggled as he sat in Triton's lap and curled up against the taller boy.
Harmony blushed deeper as Quatre snuggled against Triton. "We did THAT to him?"
Quatre grinned over to Harmony. "It's all right, really. It's not something I'd want to experience every DAY, mind you... but it was an unexpected delight. It helps that you're happy about this." He grinned up into Triton's green eyes. "Get this! Heero's caught Duo's cold, so they're stuck in the same bed... poor them!"
Harmony giggled at Quatre. "*If you weren't Muslim, I'd think you were drunk!" She sipped her tea. "You ought to take it easy today, Quatre. You missed breakfast, and it's quite a while until sunset." She shook her head and tried not to laugh at the pair of them.
Quatre grinned at Harmony. "It's okay... I have my favorite meal right here!"
Triton swallowed as Quatre started to gently nibble on his ear. "Quatre! Harmony's right! You should take it eammmmph...!" He didn't get to finish his sentence because Quatre had firmly planted his mouth over Triton's. He groaned into the kiss, and pulled away when he felt Quatre's hands under his shirt. "Quatre... get a hold of yourself!"
Quatre's grin was almost evil. "I'd rather get a hold of YOU!"
Wufei dropped the slice of toast and stared at the normally timid blonde that was all but stripping Triton. "Let me think... Harmony and I are right here, Duo and Heero are both sick, so they are most likely asleep. And you two are here as well."
Triton groaned as Quatre squeezed a particularly sensitive area. "Your POINT...?"
Harmony frowned. "What's setting Quatre off now?"
Quatre whimpered and sucked gently on Triton's shoulder. "You... me... bed... NOW!"
Triton tried to push his petite lover away. He didn't want to take advantage of the sweet Arabian when he wasn't thinking straight. "Quatre... you can't!"
Quatre growled. "Get me to a bed now or Allah help me I'll strip you right here and we'll ruin Harmony's tablecloth!"
Wufei cleared his throat. "Better do as he says. It sounds as if his libido just went Zero on you."
Triton shook his head. "Quatre... you really should take it easy!" He gazed into Quatre's eyes and sighed in defeat when he saw the amount of lust in them. "You'll get worked up in any case..." He stood, sweeping Quatre into his arms in one smooth motion. He was about to excuse himself when Quatre practically tore his top off. "Later!" He spun and ran as fast as his legs could take him.
Harmony waited until she heard their door close before she exploded into a giggling fit. "Poor Triton! I don't think he's EVER blushed that much! Oh, man! I hope Quatre will be okay!"
Wufei grinned and resumed eating. "He'll probably sleep for the rest of the day, and wonder what he did when he wakes up." Then he frowned. "Seriously... I wonder who set Quatre off like that."
Harmony shrugged. "Dunno. I have a feeling we'll find out sooner or later, though."
*****
Heero stirred at the sound of the door opening. "Who's there?"
Harmony slipped in with a tray. "Just me. How's Sleeping Beauty?" She set the tray down and handed a bowl to Heero.
"The medication Sally gave him really knocked him out. He's either asleep, or he's awake and groggy until he falls back to sleep." He smiled at her. "You knew, didn't you?"
Harmony returned his smile. "Almost the instant you guys walked into this place. I'm glad he found someone to love... and I'm glad that you are that someone. You can protect him." Her smile softened as she looked at her brother. "I have a feeling he needs protecting in more ways than one."
Heero nodded and gazed at Duo. "He doesn't like people to know just how vulnerable and insecure he is. He blames himself for every single time someone he cared for died. It was the main thing stopping him from telling me sooner."
"He's a sweet guy... with so much love inside him. He deserves to have that love returned. His smile doesn't seem as false anymore. I'm glad I had a hand in that." She turned her eyes back to Heero. "Before I forget... I need your fingerprints and a lock of your hair. I'm gonna run it through the computer and see if we can find your family."
Heero nodded and let her snip a bit of his hair before pressing his fingers on the ink pad she had. Once he'd given her the prints, he reached out to hug her. "Thank you. I don't think you'll find anyone, but I appreciate the effort."
Harmony frowned. "Why don't you think that you have a family?"
Heero ducked his head. "Because what parent would allow their child to be brought up like I was?"
Harmony sighed. "It's rare, Heero, but there is still such a thing as kidnapping. It's possible that your parents didn't know where you were and have been searching for you just as I have been searching for this lunkhead!" She grinned at the name and filed it away for later use. "As long as you hold onto the belief that there's someone out there who cares about you... it makes life that much more bearable."
Heero smiled a little. "You know... you and your family are dangerous to me and my training. Dr. J isn't thrilled at the fact that his perfect soldier is going against everything drilled into him."
Harmony shook her head. "Heero... Mama once told me that since the dawn of time, there has only been one perfect person... and he sacrificed himself to save the souls of the world." With that, she stood up. "See that Duo eats." She was about to leave when Relena entered, with Hilde close behind. "Do you want something?"
Relena smiled. "We came in here to talk to Duo and Heero. We won't be long."
Heero sighed. "Can it wait? I really don't want to wake Duo up."
Duo groaned and stirred a little. "Stoo late fer that, Hee-chan." He squinted at the person Heero had been addressing and felt his heart freeze when he saw Relena there. "Aw CRAP!"
Relena shook her head. "Calm down, Duo. I'm not going to order your debraiding!" She sat down in the chair while Hilde bit her lip and blushed. "We came in here to talk... nothing more."
Heero frowned. Relena was taking this extremely well considering how she always latched onto him. "What about?"
Relena took a deep breath. "Children. We... all of us... need to talk about children. I don't know about you, Heero... but I DO want to have a child one day. There's just one thing standing in my way of having a child."
Heero frowned. "What is that?"
Hilde let out a breath and pressed on. "Girl plus girl does not equal child. Boy plus boy does not equal child. Get it?"
If Duo wasn't awake before, He was now. "WAITASEC..." He stared at Hilde. "You and Relena? Since WHEN?"
Relena shrugged. "We sort of hung out as Heero looked after you. We only just realized last night that we... suited one another."
Hilde rolled her eyes. "We found out we were in love, Leena... and we found out that we could make sparks fly this morning."
Harmony nodded. "So THAT'S what set Quatre off." She blushed at the confused looks she was getting. "As Wufei put it... his libido went Zero on Triton... whatever THAT means. Good thing the two of them got to a bedroom when they did... or there would have been one great show in the dining room." She gave the four of them a cheeky grin. "Gotta go. Duo... eat! Later!"
Relena blushed after Harmony left the room. "I forgot..." Then she shook her head and turned her attention to Heero. "At any rate... I want children one day. When that day comes..." She blushed again.
Hilde snorted. "Spit it out, Leena! Heero... what Relena is trying to say is that when she's ready to have a child, she wants you to be the child's sire. The two of you don't even have to get into the physical act." Then she turned to Duo. "If the two of you ever want to raise a kid... I hope you come to me. I'll be more than happy to bear the child that you won't be able to."
Duo groaned and fell back against the pillows. "All this is too much! I'm going to sleep! Oyasumi!"
Heero reached over and caressed Duo's cheek. "Don't dismiss it yet, koibito. Their idea has merit. I'd rather know that the woman carrying any child of ours is someone we can trust." He smiled a little at Relena. "We'll keep it in mind, but you could have waited for Duo to get better before springing this on him."
Relena shrugged. "I figured the sooner, the better. You two take care." With that, she stood and left the room.
Duo groaned again. "I'll tell you this, Hee-chan! I don't think I can take any more surprises!"
TBC...
Again... I don't know much about the Muslim religion other than what I've heard.
