Disclaimer: We all know that I do not own these characters. As far as the plot and story, they are based off a long doujinshi titled Children of the Moon. The song 'The Dark Night of My Soul' used in this part is by the celtic artist Lorenna McKennitt. I HIGHLY recommend listening to the song!!! It's just beautiful!!
Gundam Wing: The First Chapter Part 3
Professor G was typing in several reports from his search team that they gathered in their attempts to locate Odin Lowe. The boy had been missing for two weeks now and the old man was more certain than ever that they would have a lock on his whereabouts before another week began. Pressing the enter key to his keypad, he looked up to the monitor before him as it narrowed down onto the overseen locations that could possibly a hideout to of the street rats who passed through the cities nearest to the explosion. The bright red sphere zeroing in on the blueprint map of L2 homed in on something completely unexpected as the Professor's eyes widened slightly.
"Clever one," G whispered to himself, his voice showing that he was clearly impressed with whoever managed to find Odin. "So you've been right under our noses the whole time," he smiled to himself as his eyes narrowed slightly in amusement.

Odin woke in Duos arms with a soft sigh of content as his cobalt eyes blinked open under the dim light overhead. Lifting his head from his friend's head slightly, he gazed up to watch his braided friend sleeping soundly. It was almost two weeks that Odin had been with Duo now.
Every night for the last week, they would go to their special secret place and watch the Earth as it spun silently hundreds of miles from L2. It was easier for Odin to laugh and smile like he never had in the near eleven years that he lived. He felt safe and wanted simply for who he was, not what he could be conditioned to become. It was everything that he silently wished and hoped for from as far back as he could remember. Not only did Duo make his wish come true, he also taught Odin so much of life that he never came to understand outside of what he was told by Doctor J and the scientists back on L1. He knew that he still had so much to learn. Though it was something that he feared in the beginning, Odin now found himself to learning and knowing more of the life that Duo showed simply in his smile and in his brilliant violet eyes.
Duo snored softly as he continued to sleep peacefully and Odin smiled warmly to himself as he chuckled quietly. At this, Duo's eyes slowly began to blink open. When they opened fully and focused on Odin's sweet smiling face, the braided boy smiled back, "Ohayo."
"Ohayo," Odin replied just as softly before pulling back to sit up, watching his friend all the while.
Yawning loudly, Duo stretched his arms and body out before sitting up. Scratching the back of his head, he asked, "Did you sleep alright?" Odin simply continued to smile as he nodded in response. Crawling over to their large paper bag of food, Duo retrieved two fresh, large apples and tossed one to his friend. Odin caught the bright red fruit easily and took a bite into it.
Taking a bite of his own breakfast, Duo thought aloud, "Man, it's been ages since I had any kind of jam. It would be nice to have that for the bread that we have."
Odin swallowed another mouthful of the apple as he asked, "What's jam?"
Duo's apple fell into the braided youth's lap as he gazed at his friend with wide, shocked violet eyes and a slacked jaw. Finally, Duo asked in complete awe, "You've never had jam before!?" Shaking his head with confusion all over him, the Japanese boy wondered what made his friend so taken back by this realization. He never heard of this thing called 'jam' before.
Slamming his half-eaten apple to the ground, Duo announced, "Than does it! I'm going out to get you some Angie's Strawberry jam!" He smiled brightly at Odin and winked, "Trust me, you're going to love it! There's only one store that sells that kind of jam and here on L2." Odin couldn't help but smile at his friend's behaviour and simply nodded.
Walking over to the corner where his black jacket was waiting, Duo looked over his shoulder and said, "I'll be back with a huge jar of the best jam you ever tasted before you know it."
"Be careful," Odin said quietly, concern threading his voice. Duo turned back with a worried frown to see that the same concern was written over the Japanese boy's face. Ever since the time the violet-eyed boy returned home bruised and beaten to bring the beautiful crystal globe to him, Odin had been afraid that the same would happen whenever he needed to go out. Duo threw the jacked over his white 'Banned American' T-shirt and walked over to the smaller youth.
Kneeling before his friend, he smiled and ruffled his unruly hair as he smiled, "Don't worry, Odin. I'll be fine." Odin gave a small smile of his own, still unable to but all of his fear to rest until Duo wrapped his arms around him in a supportive embrace. Sighing softly at the warm feeling, Odin wrapped his own arms around the braided scavenger, burying the side of his face in his friend's chest. When they pulled back, Duo's smile remained as he said softly, "I promise I won't let anything keep us away for very long." At this, Odin's smile grew as he nodded.
Standing to his feet again, Duo waved and made his way to the mouth of the round pipe at the entrance of their home. Odin watched his friend until he couldn't see him any longer. Turning his head, he saw the beautiful globe that Duo had given him. In the brightening light, it sparkled and glowed. Crawling over to the crystal sphere, the cobalt-eyed boy lifted it with both hands and settled it in his lap as he took possession of the last book he was almost finished reading now. Opening to the page where he left off, Odin read silently with his back to the opening as he tried not to worry about Duo.
* * * * * *
About a half-hour later, Duo tossed a large, light green jar into the air as he practically bounced down the streets on his way back home. Catching the container with ease, his bright smile remained as he held it up so he could see the label reading 'Angie's Strawberry Jam.' In the centre, there was a large picture of ripe, beautiful strawberries. "Odin's going to love this," Duo smiled to himself.

Back at their home, the sound of footsteps could be heard drawing closer towards the home Duo and Odin shared. At familiar sound, Odin lowered the book he was reading as he turned his head back to the large opening and called, "Duo?"
It wasn't until too late that Odin managed to pick up the faint echo of another pair of feet reaching the hidden room. With a sharp gasp, Odin's cobalt eyes widened in fear and shock as they gazed on Stephen and Jenna. The scientists gazed on their boy with their own widened eyes as they remained frozen in the opening. At that moment, Odin felt the chains wrapping tightly around him again. He bit his lip and remained strong, his expression never betraying any kind of emotion as the silence continued.
"ODIN!" Jenna finally shouted as tears filled her eyes. She ran to the boy and wrapped him in her arms, kissing his head a few times. Softly, she whispered, "We were so worried about you, Odin." He remained still in her embrace and looked up as the tall Stephen approached them.
Lowering himself to kneel before the boy, Stephen smiled warmly and rubbed the top of Odin's head as he said gently, "Come on, son. Let's get you back home to L1."
At those words, Odin heard the loud click of the chains as they locked. Taking a silent, deep breath, the prisoner nodded.
* * * * * *
Duo bounced back into the home he shared with his dear friend. As he stepped from the entrance, jar in hand, he called, "Hey, Odin! I told you I-" his words halted as he scanned the room, only to find it empty. "Odin?" he called quietly, concern filling his violet eyes as he examined the room. There was not even the slightest trace of where the other boy was. Just then, Duo gasped loudly as his eyes widened at the sight of the crystal sphere. Odin never left without it if he ventured on his own. Walking over to the globe, he lowered the jar and lifted the crystal with both hands. Gazing down at it in great fear and worry. Turning back to the opening, his voice was filled with concern as he shouted, "ODIN!"
Holding onto the crystal with his right hand, Duo's violet eyes narrowed as he growled deeply before breaking out into a run. His feet carried him as fast as they could allow as he ran through the maze of twisting and turning pipes as he tried to pick up any sound that could tell him where Odin was. Then he heard it... the loud screeching of one of the metal doors locking a hidden stairway that led to the surface. Someone tall enough and strong enough was unlocking the hatch. It was only a few turns away and by the time Duo reached his destination, he found a tall man and a young woman with Odin standing between them. They all turned to face the braided youth as he panted deeply with a deadly glare towards the doctors. Instantly, Odin's eyes widened as he gasped sharply.
"Let him go!" Duo yelled at his friend's captors. The initial shock in the man and woman glared right back at the American.
Stephen reached inside his grey pants as he growled quietly, "What's one street rat going to matter?"
Odin gasped again as he grabbed onto Stephen's hand before it could remove the gun as he shouted in terror, "No! DON'T HURT HIM!" Turning back to his friend, he shouted, "DUO, GET OUT OF HERE!!!" All Duo could do was watch with wide eyes as his friend did all he could to protect him.
"Forget it," Jenna snapped at her partner as she snatched Odin into her arms in the blink of an eye. Pushing the young man into the entrance just as quickly, she said, "We got what we came for." Odin could make no protest as he allowed them to lead him into the stairwell. The door slammed to a close behind them.
As the large bolt locked with a loud crash, Duo ran to the door, shouting, "ODIN!!!" There wasn't any use in his trying to open the door. The lock was much to heavy for him to undo. However, the braided child knew the alley where they were heading. And he knew the sewer grit hidden just down the block. Wasting no time, he ran for it.
Odin was put into the back seat of a silver car waiting in the alley for him and the scientists. Quickly, the doctors jumped into the front. Stephen pulled out the keys and turned on the car. Once the engine roared, the car pulled out of the alley in with its wheels screeching at the slamming of the gas pedal. Turning right sharply, the car peeled down the block. When they were half-way down the street, a dark figure ran into the street, stopping right in their path. Odin's eyes widened as they recognized the crystal globs held tightly in the figure's right hand. "Duo," he whispered softly, swallowing down his fear.
"What the hell does that kid think he's doing?" Stephen hissed with his brown eyes narrowed on the braided kid.
Duo stood with his hands slightly extended at either side of him. "You're going to have to kill me if you want to leave with Odin!" he shouted at the car speeding its way towards him. His determined eyes narrowed, he screamed, "I WON'T MOVE! YOU'LL HAVE TO RUN RIGHT OVER ME! I WON'T LOSE ODIN; YOU'LL HAVE TO KILL ME!!!" he screamed.
Jenna's green eyes narrowed as she growled, "One street rat won't matter." Stephen sneered evilly as he slammed the gas pedal again. Odin felt tears in his eyes at the sight of his friend's attempt to keep his promise. Duo swore that nothing would separate them, and he was willing to keep that promise at the extent of his own life. Silently, he hoped and prayed Duo would jump out of the way before it was too late. But somewhere inside of him, he knew that would never happen. The tears fell freely as he cried his friend's name in a desperate plea to get him to move from the car's path.
Even with the car closing the gap between them, Duo remained still, tears filling his eyes as he thought of him friend and how he was being taken from him. "Death, you've taken enough from me," he growled quietly to himself. "You'll have to take me before I lose another person I care about." He could see Odin clearly in the back seat as the car was now inches from him. Taking a deep breath, he shouted, "I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!"
The car slammed into his chest just as Odin screamed tearfully, "DUO!!!" The force of the blow knocked the braided child into the air at great force. Odin's heart stopped as he gasped sharply and watched with wide eyes as his friend's lifeless body crashed to the ground, landing on its right. The glob that he had given the Japanese boy shattered into thousands of pieces where it fell nearby. Gasping again, Odin placed his hands on the back window's glass, trying desperately to reach the still body as he screamed, "DUO!!!" He could no longer see his friend's lifeless form as the car screeched around a corner and sped its way through the city. Falling onto the back seat, Odin curled into a ball as he hugged his legs to his trembling body.
Never before now had he ever felt so alone... or lost.
* * * * * *
Back on the street, a lifeless body lied sprawled on the ground as the proof of what happened could be found by the dark tire tracks a few feet from the corpse. Not far from the body lied thousands of colourful splinters of crystal. From the way the body way lying on its side, the death must have been quick. His footsteps were the only sound to be heard for miles. A gentle breeze played with the loose braid of chestnut hair that fell to the ground as he approached. Pausing before the body and gazing down at it, he could see the young, smudge-covered face. The boy couldn't have been more than eleven years in age. With a hint of sadness in his eyes, Professor G shook his head and sighed deeply, "Such a waste of life." Just then, his eyes widened slightly when he saw one of the still hands twitch ever so slightly, its fingers almost making a fist.
Quickly, the old man carefully turned the body to lie on its back as he places his hands at the pale neck in search of a pulse. It wasn't long before a mischievous smirk grew on the Professor's face. "You certainly are a find, my boy," he said softly, his voice filled with sincere astonishment.

Back at the lab on L1, Odin walked down the hall, his eyes as empty as they had been when he returned to his prison. He was showered and dressed in his long nightshirt as he walked towards his room for the night. Doctor J was standing along with Stephen and Jenna as they watched the small boy leaving them. "It's been a whole week and he has yet to change that hallow look about him" Doctor J sighed deeply as he shook his head. "His training has been unaffected since he returned, but this is not the same Odin that we had before you left for L2."
"Give him time, Doctor," Jenna said gently. Both she and Stephen had informed the old man of everything that happened when they were visiting Professor G. Much to their relief, he was not mad at the fact that they could not find the child for two weeks. He was, however, saddened when he was told about the boy that had been killed. "With everything that happened, it'll take some time for the trauma to wear off."
Frowning, Doctor J nodded and whispered sadly, "Yes. Of course."
Stephen nodded, "If there isn't any progress in his change, we could always erase his memories of that boy on L2." They could both see Doctor J stiffen at the thought of that. Placing a comforting hand on the old man's shoulder, the tall man assured him, "It'll just be best to protect him from any memories that could hurt his training. If Dekim Barton ever found out that Odin was starting to falter-" Doctor J quickly lifted his metal arm before Stephen to silence him.
"I won't do that unless it is a last resource," J demanded in a soft hiss before walking off on his own. Jenna and Stephen turned to each other with sad and concerned faces.
[Upon a darkened night
the flame of love was burning in my breast
And by a lantern bright
I fled my house while all in quiet rest
Shrouded by the night
and by the secret stair I quickly fled
The veil concealed my eyes
while all within lay quiet as the dead]
Odin walked onto his room as the door slid closed behind him. Walking to his window, he gazed outside to watch the stars in the heavens above. His empty gaze filled with sadness as he could make out the soft glow of L2 in the far distance of space. As the memories of Duo, his only friend, came back to him, his eyes filled with small tears as he bit his lip.
A bright overhead light shined down on a medical bed lying in the centre of a barren examination room. All around the ring of light was nothing but pitch darkness as the occupant of the bed lie on his back. Duo lay in a deep sleep; the sheet's light blue sheet pulled past his waist the only cover for his naked form. Freed from its braid, Duo's chestnut hair fell about his shoulders in a wavy cascade. His chest and arms were bandaged and stitched and several places. A large white patch was taped against his right cheek. The bed moved by remote as at went into a seated position, never stirring the Duo awake. In a room beyond the glass paned wall, Professor G typed in some observations into his computer as he studied the boy's progress.
[Oh night thou was my guide
oh night more loving than the rising sun
Oh night that joined the lover
to the beloved one
transforming each of them into the other]
Floating in his observation tank, Odin's eyes slowly opened as they peered through the glass and watched the scientists at the large monitors. Jenna and Stephen occasionally turned to each other to compare notes as they continued to type and jot things in their records. It had almost been a month since his return to L1 and there were still no changes in his behaviour. In the back of the room, Doctor J was watching with a sad expression. Odin could see his own grief was affecting his tests and those studying him. Frowning sadly, his cobalt eyes slid halfway closed, knowing that he would never be able to be anything more than an experiment. Closing his eyes fully, he lost himself in memories of Duo and his only chance at being normal. The metal band on his right arm began to tingle a bit as he soon found himself asleep.
[Upon that misty night
in secrecy, beyond such mortal sight
Without a guide or light
than that which burned so deeply in my heart
That fire t'was led me on
and shone more bright than of the midday sun
To where he waited still
it was a place where no one else could come]
Doctor J walked towards Stephen and Jenna. The young man and woman turned to meet his gaze as they awaited his word. Watching Odin for a silent moment, he paused before giving a nod that would have been easily missed. Taking a deep breath, Jenna began typing I some commands. Stephen could see Odin's brain waves as he and his partner began working to remove every last memory of Odin's time on L2 as Odin continued to sleep.
As Duo continue to lie unconscious, Professor G hooked a metal band to the boy's left arm before walking over to a machine a few feet from the bed. Locking into the boy's brain waves, he began altering his most recent memories. Sitting at the monitor attached to the device, he began erasing any and every thought and memory from the last month. Occasionally, he would look up from his work to watch the sleeping youth. Frowning sadly, he focused on his efforts, knowing that he had no choice in this, no matter how much he hated doing it.
[Oh night thou was my guide
oh night more loving than the rising sun
Oh night that joined the lover
to the beloved one
transforming each of them into the other]
Duo's eyes slowly blinked open as a small moan of pain escaped his throat. The bright lights overhead burned his eyes as he quickly shielded them with his right arm, squinting to gaze at his surroundings. He gazed down as his vision adjusted and focused. With a soft gasp, his eyes widened at the sight of his bandaged form. Some of his body ached from his slight movements, but nothing to immobilize him. However, his head was aching badly as he winced and rubbed it with his hand.
Something moved in the darkness around the ring of light that surrounded the bed he lied in. Following it with his violet eyes, he watched as an old man with short, grey hair and a long, pointed nose stepped forward. Duo watched him with a curious gaze as he lowered his hand, not bothering to push his loose hair back. "What happened to me?" he whispered softly.
"There was an accident," the old man answered. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he smiled, "My name is Doctor G."
The boy nodded, "Duo Maxwell." He turned his head to try and look past the darkness, trying to study his surrounding and remember the accident that this doctor had mentioned. The last memory he has was staying in his home beneath the city, alone, as he always had been the last four years.
Rising from the bed, Doctor G said, "You're lucky to be alive after what happened to you. Not many would have survived it." Duo looked up at him with sincere confusion in his eyes, unable to remember anything of what happened to him. Placing a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder, the old man smiled warmly, "I could use someone like you... someone determined and strong." Duo continued to watch the man as he paced around the bed and said, "I am in need of a pilot. Someone to control a magnificent mobile suit that I have created."
Alarm instantly flared through Duo's entire being. The memories of the Maxwell Church flooded over him and drowned his soul. It was piloting a mobile suit that destroyed so many innocent lives. Squeezing his eyes closed tightly, Duo shook his head almost violently as he shouted, "Forget it! I'm never getting in another mobile suit!"
With these words, Doctor G paused in his steps, his eyes widening. Turning back to the youth next to him, he smirked, "I thought that it was just a coincidence with your last name." At this, he reached into the right pocket of his white coat and removed a gold chain and cross. Duo's eyes widened at the sight of his pendant as a small, pained whimper left him. His violet pools narrowed at the doctor before he snapped his head forward, glaring into the darkness. G couldn't help but smile to himself... he knew he had the boy right where he wanted him now.
"Duo," he said gently. "I know that nothing can bring back the people that you have lost." His face showed the concern that a parent would have for one of his or her own. "You have been robbed of so much in life, watching all those you cared for being taken right from your grasp." He could see small tears building in the violet gems as Duo continued to glare ahead, refusing to meet the old man's eyes. Duo," he soothed as he sat on the side of the bed. "What I am offering you is a chance to save countless lives, just like the ones you couldn't save that you wish you could have." Duo choked back a sharp sob as he bit his lip and squeezed his eyes closed. His head lowered as his hands clutched at the bed in tight fists.
Gently taking two fingers under the boy's chin, G lifted his head until Duo's watery eyes met his own. "Duo, not only would you be saving lives, but you would become more than any other human alive," the professor assured him. "You will put an end to those who threaten others, those who are plaguing innocent, good people." He chose his words carefully and smiled, "Should you choose to pilot 02, you would now choose who lives and who dies... You would be a god of Death."
Any trace of sorrow or uncertainty left Duo's face as his eyes widened. His tears now gone, he blinked in shock once at Doctor G as the old man lowered his hand and watched him. Duo felt the smirk curving his lips as he nodded and replied darkly, "I'm listening."
[Within my pounding heart
which kept itself entirely for him
He fell into his sleep
beneath the cedars all my love I gave
And by the fortress walls
the wind would brush his hair against his brow
And with its smoothest hand
caressed my every sense it would allow]
Now thirteen, Odin was running through a range of obstacles, dressed in a green tank top and black spandex shorts. Gun in hand as he shot at his targets, he make every mark with ease. His cobalt eyes void of any emotion, he went through his training without anything in mind other than accomplishing his task. Determination coursed through his body as he dodged, shot and ran through the stimulated terrain.
Dressed in a black priest outfit, Duo worked quickly as he lied on his back, taping a small explosive device into the wiring of the central nerve centre of a weapon plant. Rising to his feet, he ran through the halls as quickly as his could as his long braid swung behind him. Once he was out in the open beneath the night sky on a hill beyond the massive plant, he turned back to the plant and removed the detonator from his right pocket. Pressing the button, he watched as the entire facility was engulfed in flames and explosions. A smirk on his face, he turned as walked off.
[Oh night thou was my guide
oh night more loving than the rising sun
Oh night that joined the lover
to the beloved one
transforming each of them into the other]
In his room, Odin pulled on his yellow space suit, zipping it closed before turning to leave his room. Taking hold of the helmet that waited for him in the hanger, he walked to the large, white suit awaiting him. From a glass window high above, Stephen and Jenna watched with sad eyes as the fifteen-year-old boy secured himself into Wing Zero's cockpit.
Doctor J went down a list of commands as he spoke over the Gundam's transmitter when Odin was ready for take off. Finally, the doctor stated, "From now on, you should go by the name of the man we are avenging... Heero Yuy."
With his voice dead to any emotion, Odin replied, "Understood." Before their eyes, everyone watched as Wing Zero took to the skies, vanishing from sight.
Jumping into Deathscythe's cockpit and locking himself in, Duo smiled to himself as he finished zipping his own space suit. Placing his helmet on, he closed the hatch to his Gundam as he pressed in several commands to bring the suit to life and opening the ceiling of the hanger. From the back of the shadows of the large room, Professor G watched with a small smile as the dark suit shot into the air, disappearing into the heavens above.
[I lost myself to him
and laid my face upon my lovers breast
And care and grief grew dim
as in the mornings mist became the light
There they dimmed amongst the lilies fair
There they dimmed amongst the lilies fair
There they dimmed amongst the lilies fair]
Five streaks soared through space as they all approached the Earth. Wing Zero and Deathscythe darted through the stars and crossed paths once. When that happened, their pilots slowly woke from their slumber as they could have sworn that they felt something even before their monitors went off with beeps and blinking lights.
Looking to his monitors, Heero locked onto the blur of whatever it was that passed him. After trying to run some kind of analysis on what it was, he was unable to find any results. "Must be a comet," he said to himself in his matter-of-fact tone before turning his focus on the Earth again.
Duo watched the strange streak that shot in the opposite direction to him as he smirked, "Just a shooting star." He lied back in his seat and crossed his arms as his eyes closed again as Deathscythe flew to its locked destination.

"Say goodbye, Relena," Heero glared at the shocked young woman he held at gunpoint. He was just about to pull the trigger when he heard a gunshot. Turning quickly, he watched just in time as a bullet lodged itself into his right upper arm. Relena shouted as she downed with her eyes squeezed shut, covering her ears.
After the shock, she looked over to the fallen pilot as he knelt on the steel ground ahead of her. Concern threading her voice, she said gently, "Heero..."
Holding his wound as he bit back a cry of pain, Heero looked up to a black clad figure as it jumped over the railing of the submarine, a long braid falling past their waist. Heero groaned out, "Who are you?"
Duo continued to aim his gun at the wounded boy as he smiled, "It's pretty obvious to anyone that you're the bad guy here." Without turning his gaze from his target, he asked, "Are you alright, lady?" With confusion in his eyes, he watched as the young woman walked over to her attacker with concern as he whispered, "Huh?"
"Heero," Relena said gently as she looked tried to aid him. Heero would have no part of it as he lunged for his fallen gun. Before he could reach it, the braided pilot shot another bullet, this time it landed in his right leg as Heero gave a sharp cry of pain and crashed to the ground.
"Don't overdo it, remember, you're injured," Duo advised the other boy as he approached them.
Running forward to put herself between Heero and the braided marksman, Relena held her arms out as she shouted, "Stop it! What do you think you're doing!?"
Violet eyes wide with shock and confusion, Duo shouted back, "Hey!" To his amazement, he watched as the girl knelt before her attacked and tore at her blue dress. Even her assailant seemed taken back by her gesture as she bandaged his wounds. "Great. How'd I end up being the bad guy here?" Duo asked as he scratched the back of his head with his armed hand. Just then, his watch began beeping as he looked at it in alarm. "It's already reached the surface," he said to himself. Eyes narrowing, he scowled, "I must have miscalculated the tide."
From the depths of the sea ahead of them, two metal suits began breaking through the waves with a loud ruse of sound. Squinting her eyes to have a better look, Relena asked, "What in the world is that?" She gasped sharply as a bright light suddenly blinded her.
"Don't look, lady," Duo warned with a smile as he held up his white flare. "I'm sure that you have your reasons for being here, but you better just walk away. Save yourself a lot of grief." Just then, the fallen gunman jumped for the missiles suspended over the sub. Discarding his flare, Duo took his gun with both hands as he took aim with a deadly glare and shouted, "You haven's had enough!?" He fired several times, just missed each shot as they bounced off the strong metal of the explosives.
Heero glared at the violet-eyed stranger and shouted back, "It's my mobile suit!" With a loud grunt in his effort, he slammed his hand into the launching mechanism.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, YOU FOOL!?!" Duo shouted as he watched helplessly while the missiles shot into the water for Deathscythe and the white Gundam he found.
As Heero fell back towards the water, he smiled slightly to himself and said quietly, "Finally, it over. Mission complete." He groaned in pain before losing consciousness just as the missiles hit their mark, tearing at Wing Zero and Deathscythe.
"NOOOO!" Duo cried as he watched his Gundam sink beneath the surface along with the other suit following the explosion. Turning his gaze down to the water, he watched as the attacker's body floated on its stomach. "Damn it," he hissed. "He knows Gundanium's impact level." Realization filled his eyes as he blinked in shock, "Which means... he's the Gundam's pilot." Duo paused just a moment before quickly jumping over the submarine's railing and dove into the sea below.
Swimming up to the other pilot, Duo took hold of him and turned him upright. The other boy remained unconscious in Duo's arms as he held the two of them above the waves. "I don't know why I'm doing this, " the braided pilot admitted to the wounded pilot as he brushed back some of his wet, unruly bangs back, "...guess I'm curious to know what you're doing here." As he watched the unconscious teenager, Duo blinked once to himself as he whispered, "Why do I get the feeling I know you from somewhere?"
Duo continued to float over the waves as he held the Japanese pilot in his arms. In the distance, he heard the cries and wails of an ambulance as he pulled up on the beach.
