Gundam Wing: The First Chapter Part 19

After reaching Peacemillion following her daring escape from Libra, Hilde was wheeled into her room as she slept on her stretcher. She nearly lost her life retrieving the disk carrying the link to destroy the Mercurius and Veate. With both mobile suits out of the way, the Gundams now had more of an advantage in the fight against the White Fang.

Duo and his friends remained in the hallway, dressed in their flight suits, as they watched the girl was led away. Beside the braided pilot, Quatre assured the braided pilot quietly, "At least she's going to be all right."

Closing his concerned eyes, the American lowered his head slightly as he replied, "Yea." Looking back, he found Heero leaning back against one of the large windows with his own eyes closed in silent thought.

Taking a deep breath, Duo bit his lip as he fought the sickening ache in his stomach. Reassured that Hilde would recover from her injuries and find herself on the next shuttle back to L2 on his own orders, he was faced only with an empty feeling of pain and dread. Wanting nothing more than to never pass on the message that he was given, Duo knew that it would not be right to keep it from the person that he had fallen in love with. No matter how painful the outcome would be.

Walking closer to the Wing pilot, Duo said softly, "Heero..." Looking up, the other pilot's cobalt gaze met sad violet as the braided teenager struggled to fins his voice. Finally, he stated, "Relena Peacecraft is on Libra."

"Relena?" came the shocked reply as Heero's eyes widened.

Nodding, the other boy lowered his braided head as he nodded, "Yea. Hilde said that she saw her there." Straightening himself, the Japanese pilot gave a firm nod as Duo watched the soldier rear his head once again. Turning his head away, Duo cleared his throat and frowned sadly, "I'm going to turn in. It's been a long day." Quickly, he made his way back to his room as Heero watched his retreat with sad and confused eyes.

In the deserted ninth hanger of Peacemillion, Heero Yuy stood at the foot of Wing Zero. Gazing up at his large Gundam, he recalled Duo's relaying Relena's whereabouts to him earlier that evening. Everything that they had been fighting was in jeopardy as long as her life was in danger. While he didn't want to see anything happen to the young woman, what Heero was concerned more over were the ideals that she stood for. Along with the end of Libra and the White Fang, Relena needed to be protected or everything would fall apart.

There was far too much at stake not to bring her to safety. Kumi and her ally, Sette, needed Heero and his comrades to live up to their end; just as they relied on the success of the two female pilots. While there was no communication between the two fronts of the war in Space, everyone silently counted on each other doing whatever they needed to do on their end. There were too many elements that needed to be met and very little time to see them through. If one thing was overlooked and missed, it could easily mark the end of everything.

Gazing up to Wing Zero, Heero's mind returned to focus on one of the most important elements in ending the war. "Relena," he thought aloud, finality in voice. She managed to put herself in danger. It was up to someone to get her out of it.

At the thought of leaving Peacemillion, Heero suddenly saw Duo before him again in another vision. Smiling warmly, the braided pilot said quietly, "If I didn't think that you were worth the effort of looking after, I wouldn't have risked my neck getting you out of that hospital. I don't do that for just anyone. Just promise me you'll remember that before you try to self-destruct again."

Heero's cobalt eyes filled with a brief glimpse of sadness, still peering up at his Gundam as he recalled those words from the discussion he and the American shared that same morning. "Duo," he whispered faintly. A small, almost regretful, frown fell on his lips as realization filled his cobalt eyes. Quietly, he told himself with realization in his tone, "That's why he looked so sad before he left for his room tonight... He was letting me go."

*   *   *   *   *   *

Late that evening, Heero found himself standing before the closed door to Duo's room. It had taken more courage to come as close as he had to speaking to the braided pilot than it had taken to accomplish any mission and face every fight he had seen thus far. Even still, the Wing pilot's head was lowered as he reconsidered the reasons for his actions. In the end, he could only admit that this was just something he needed to do. Finally, Heero raised his hand to the wall panel and pressed the key that brought the door to slide open.

Stepping into the doorway, he found that the room was fully lit. Across the other side of the small quarters, Duo lay on his bed, resting the back of his head on his folded arms. Dressed in his black pants and a violet T-shirt that matched the shade of his eyes, the American was looking to the ceiling in deep thought. It was obvious that there was a lot on the boy's mind as he never bothered to remove his boots. Looking over to the door at the sound of it opening, the American's eyes widened as he quickly pushed himself up on his elbows, gasping, "Heero!"

Without moving from his place in the doorway, the Japanese pilot's face betrayed no emotion as he asked quietly, "May I come in?"

Biting his lip as he continued to prop himself up on his elbows, Duo paused briefly before nodding, "Yea." Grunting faintly as he pushed himself up to sit at the edge of his bed, his booted feet rested against the floor. The surprise was still clear in his face as he smiled nervously, "Come on in."

Taking a deep, silent breath, Heero stepped into the room, closing the door behind him. Slowly, he walked towards the bed, pausing just a few inches from his comrade as the tips of their toes nearly touched. Peering into the confused violet gaze looking up at him, the Wing pilot considered his words.

Growing considerably more uncomfortable by the awkward silence and the weight from those piercing cobalt eyes, Duo cleared his throat nervously as his small grin faded. Even his voice betrayed his concern by cracking slightly when he asked, "What did you need to see me about?"

Never breaking the hold their eyes gripped onto, Heero answered with a question of his own, "You were jealous of Trowa that night, weren't you?" His voice was its usual commanding, flat tone as he stood before the other boy. Gasping sharply, Duo's eyes widened as his lips parted. His fair skin paled a shade lighter as a small whimper left his throat. It was clear that he was struggling to come up with some response, but Heero continued, "You were mad at him for trying to use me, but you were also jealous." While it was meant to be a question, it had become more of a statement.

Duo continued to sit, frozen stiff as he stared at the Japanese pilot in shock and fear. He licked his dry lips before they moved slowly, but the words never passed over them. Faintly, he whispered brokenly, "J-jealous? " Held prisoner under that cold, deep blue stare, the American desperately tried to breathe.

The intensity in Heero gaze and face seemed to soften a bit as he frowned, "I should have seen it sooner. There are a lot of things about you that confuse me. And I'm sure the same goes for you when it comes to me." Lowering his head slightly, his eyes looked away briefly as he said softly, "I came here to try and clear up some of that confusion on your end."

Drawing a deep breath as he lost himself in the wide, violet eyes looking up at him, Heero explained, "Trowa was never a threat for you to be jealous over. Even that night, I wasn't thinking of him." Duo's breath hitched in his throat. For the first time he could remember, the Wing pilot heard his voice crack as he began, "The only..." Hiding his inward shock, Heero cleared his throat before finally admitting, "The only person that I've had any... want to be with is here in this room right now."

With a sharp gasp through his parted lips, Duo's eyes widened further still at his partner's confession. Heero released a shuddering sigh as he lowered his head slightly and his shoulders sagged, feeling the weight that had been crushing those shoulders for months finally lift. Finally, he said what he needed to say. In that instant, Heero knew that he did the right thing by visiting the braided pilot that night.

Reaching forward, Duo gently held the Japanese boy's left wrist and tenderly pulled it towards him as he whispered breathlessly, "Heero..." The other pilot's head never lifted and his eyes remained closed, but he did not move to pull his wrist free. Taking a deep breath, Duo's voice trailed as he asked, "Do you realize what you just..." Shaking his head, he questioned, "Are you sure you feel that way?"

Heero's own voice regained its certainty and without looking up or opening his eyes, he replied, "Do you have any idea how difficult it was for me to admit it to myself?" Again, Duo's heart skipped a beat as he watched the Wing pilot for a moment.

After a brief pause, Duo quickly rose to his feet, launching himself at Heero as he threw his arms tightly around his neck. The Japanese youth's cobalt eyes widened at the sudden embrace that nearly knocked them both over. Reacting quickly, he enfolded Duo's waist loosely with his own arms until he steadied them on their feet. Sighing deeply, the braided pilot closed his eyes as he nuzzled Heero's shoulder, whispering, "I can imagine how hard it was. Despite what your were trained to believe about yourself, you sill managed to admit to me what I never had the courage to admit to you."

Pulling back slightly as Heero's arms fell to his sides, Duo's arms remained loosely wrapped around the Wing pilot's neck. Resting their foreheads together, he gazed into his partner's eyes and smiled, "Thank you for opening up to me... It was a huge step for you to make. I'm so proud of you."

Together, the two young men leaned in as their eyes closed. Sighing deeply, Heero savored the familiar feeling of Duo's lips against his when they met at last. A deep moan escaped the American's throat as they held each other tightly. Slowly, the kiss deepened as their tongues spun and swirled together in a melodic dance. When their lips pulled back for air, they both panted and stared into each other's eyes for a moment.

Lowering his head slightly, Heero asked quietly, "So you still want to be with me... even after the way I treated you?"

Releasing a shuddery breath, Duo answered faintly, "I've never wanted anything more." The Japanese pilot's eyes and face remained expressionless as he gave a firm nod to the response. Without another word, he walked past the braided pilot and sat on his bed.

Drawing his knees close, Heero closed his eyes and began untying the laces to his sneakers. Removing both shoes, he set them down beside the bed before removing his socks and depositing them the same. Placing a hand over his pounding heard, Duo's eyes closed as he could hear the deep pulses in his ears as he tried to calm his breath.

Once he was barefoot, the Wing pilot laid back until he was stretched out over the mattress, watching the braided pilot as his violet eyes opened. Taking a deep breath, Duo walked over to the bed, kicking off his books and socks before crawling onto the mattress. Placing his hands on either side of Heero's head and his legs on either side of his hips, Duo hovered over the Japanese boy for a moment. Their eyes locked, the two young simply gazed each other for a moment.

Slowly, Duo lowered himself fully on top of Heero, kissing his neck as the other boy turned his head to the side and closed his eyes. With tender licks, nips and kisses, the braided pilot worked his lips across Heero's collarbone as the breath of his partner beneath him began to slowly increase. Pushing himself up, Duo smiled down on the Wing pilot for a brief moment. Opening his cobalt eyes again, Heero managed to catch that warm smile. Unable to help himself, he returned a small, almost nervous grin of his own.

Taking hold of the Japanese boy's green tank top, Duo quickly removed it with a gentle tug before dropping it beside the bed. His breath catching quietly in his throat, Heero closed his eyes again as he raised his hips a bit to aid Duo as he removed the spandex shorts along with the boxers beneath. With a slight shudder at the exposure of his naked body, Heero focused solely on Duo as the American straddled his bare hips, his violet eyes filled with desire and need.

Perched on Heero's hips, the braided teenager reached down to take hold of his own violet T-shirt. Slowly, he slid the shirt off completely, discarding it with a toss behind him. It was a surprise to both pilots when a soft gasp escaped Heero's throat when he gazed on Duo's bare chest. It was the first time that the Wing pilot could remember being in awe. Placing his hand on his partner's abdomen, Heero slowly ran them up the lean muscled chest as his gaze followed them. Panting under the Japanese boy's touch, Duo moaned lowly with his head slightly falling back.

Taking one of Heero's hands as they reached his nipples, Duo brought its palm to his lips. Closing his eyes, he rested the same hand against his cheek as he nuzzled it tenderly. When his hand was freed, Heero licked his lips as he reached forward and began undoing the braided pilot's button and zipper of his black jeans. Smirking down at the other boy, Duo raised his hips and aided him in removing his pants and the briefs under them.

His own eyes filling with the same need and desire at the sight of the naked pilot over him, Heero panted quietly as Duo lowered himself fully on top of him again. Kissing each other deeply, they moaned and whimpered against each other's lips. When the need for breath separated them again, Duo lifted his head and whispered breathlessly as he gazed into his comrade's eyes, "Heero... You're sure about this?"

In those few words and at the concern in the long-haired boy's voice, Heero found it endearing how as badly as Duo wanted this, he was more concerned with his own well-being. With a small, but sincere smile, the Japanese pilot nodded, "Yes. I'm sure, Duo." Relief filled the violet pools above him as Duo returned a warm smile of his own, giving a small nod.

Lowering himself to lie fully on Heero, Duo wrapped his arms around him and he was embraced just as tightly as they closed their eyes. For a moment, they simply held each other as they took in the feel of their naked bodies pressed against each other. Running a hand down Duo's braid, Heero thought back to the night when he and the American slept together in the dorm they shared. The warmth and security he felt that night was no different from now. 'He feels like... home... if this is what home is supposed to feel like,' he thought to himself. It seemed funny how while at that same dorm, Duo presented him with the best replacement for a home with the small ceramic cabin that he gave him. With a small smirk and his eyes still closed as he held the braided pilot, Heero's mind whispered, 'He was my home all this time...'

Reaffirmed by Heero's certainty of what was happening, Duo gently pulled back and began kissing his partner's neck. With his head falling back further into the pillow with his own eyes closed, Heero moaned and panted quietly as he felt the braided pilot's lips trail over every inch of exposed skin they could reach as he slowly trailed his way down.

Every kiss was placed with such gentleness and reverence that it left Heero breathless. The world around the two young men had been forgotten... the war... the tasks they had to accomplish yet... everything else had been left behind. Since the time they left for the Earth to begin their missions at the start of the war, it was the first time either pilot had shed their responsibilities to find safety and warmth from their realities.

When he kissed his way down to the lean waist beneath him, Duo carefully spread Heero's legs as he settled himself between them. Reaching beneath the bed, he retrieved a bottle of lube that he had hidden there. Coating the fingers of his right hand, he licked his lips as he gazed on Heero's erection.

Taking hold of the hard member, the braided pilot smirked as he heard the other boy take a deep breath at his touch. Closing his eyes, he leaned forward to take the tip of the pulsing length into his mouth, moaning deeply as his tongue swirled over the warm skin. Gasping sharply, at the sensation, Heero's eyes opened widely as his back arched with the need for more. Obliging the silent plea, Duo worked his mouth down the long cock as he gently sucked and licked all the while.

As the braided pilot took him into his mouth, Heero moaned deeply as his eyes slid closed again with his head falling back. Steadying himself, Duo began to rise and fall at a slowly increasing pace as he continued to send shockwave of pleasure through the Wing pilot's body. When he reached a fast enough pace that he could work while keeping Heero relaxed, Duo moved his lubed hand towards his partner's opening without slowing. Opening his violet eyes, he gazed up to watch for the other boy's reactions.

Heero gasped sharply once again as he felt something press against his tight entrance. While at first there was a slight pain, Duo's touch brought more than enough blissful sensations that it was soon forgotten. He felt himself being stretched further as another finger penetrated him, soon working with the other in a scissor motion to relax his canal further. Gripping the sheets of the bed, Heero released a small cry of pleasure when a third finger was added with the others. The feeling of being filled along with Duo's mouth taking in his shaft was almost too much for the Japanese pilot as he writhed, panted and moaned in pleasure.

Sliding his fingers out of Heero's entrance, Duo pulled his mouth back just as he felt the other boy near release. Panting, himself, the braided pilot whispered, "My God, you're beautiful to watch." Kneeling up between the other boy's legs, Duo began rubbing lube onto his own cock as he moaned, "You were stretched out pretty far. I'll still go slow just in case."

Pushing himself up slightly on his elbows, the Japanese boy looked briefly to the bottle that had been set back down on the floor before meeting Duo's eyes to ask flatly, "Are you always this prepared?"

Duo laughed quietly and shrugged, "Gotta be ready for anything. Besides, if I didn't... take care of business, I'd wake up frustrated as hell from the dreams that I have of you." With a seductive smirk, he winked, "Even those dreams don't hold a candle to this." Taking a deep breath as he finished coating himself, Duo whispered in a throaty voice, "I don't want to hurt you, I'd rather stop before that happens. Let me know if there is any pain, okay?"

With his cobalt eyes widening slightly in uncertainty, Heero asked, "Why doesn't that sound so reassuring?" There was no response as his comrade was readying himself.

Biting his lip, Heero nodded as he prepared himself when Duo leaned forward into position. Closing his cobalt eyes, the Japanese youth felt the slow entrance of his partner's erection. Gasping sharply, his eyes squeezed closed as he whispered, "D-Duo." True to his word, Duo moved slowly as to avoid as much discomfort as possible. While there was a slight bit of pain, Heero relaxed himself enough for it to pass. Only once or twice did he bite back a whimper from a sharp pain as he was stretched further. Above him, he could hear Duo's heavy breathing along with his deep moans and small whimpers as he took in the sensation of being filled by him.

A light kiss touched the Wing pilot's forehead, bringing his eyes to open as he gazed up to see Duo smiling down on him lovingly. Blinking once, Heero suddenly realized that Duo was fully inside of him. The realization of that was strange and satisfying at the same time. Their bodies were linked as one complete structure.

It was in that moment, as he and Duo lost themselves in each other's eyes, that realization filled Heero's senses. Suddenly, he realized that from this point on, Duo was more than just a partner that he worked with or a comrade that he could rely on. He was even more than a friend now... Somehow, Duo had gone from being someone that Heero couldn't stand to be around to his lover.

With a small grin, Heero sighed softly before closing his eyes once more as a sign that he was ready. Leaning forward to place his hands at either side of his lover's head, Duo began to slowly pull himself from the tight canal surrounding his length. When only his tip remained inside, then he eased himself back inside. As each retracting and sheathing became easier for the two of them, Duo began to increase his speed. With a shuddery breath, he closed his eyes to lose himself in everything that he was feeling. At each thrust, Heero raised his hips to meet Duo's as the braided pilot pushed himself back inside.

Their heavy breathing and sounds of pleasure filling the air, the two pilots clung to each other as their bodies moved as one. They cried out as every stride grew harder and faster, driving them closer to the edge. Hiking his legs up until his thighs pressed against his own chest to aid Duo in sinking deeper inside, Heero panted and moaned in rapture as his arms wrapped around the American tightly.

Minutes passed without any knowledge as time stood still. The joining of their bodied lasted a long time as both boys forced themselves to hold out as long as they could. Finally, that would prove to be too difficult as the heat of the moment and the immense sensations flooding them began breaking the damns of their control. Not giving in at last became impossible.

Feeling himself close to his climax, Duo grunted as he reached down to take a firm hold of Heero's hard length and began stroking it in time with his swift strides. With a sharp gasp, the Wing pilot's head fell back as he whispered his lover's name faintly through his pleasure.

Propping himself back up, the braided pilot ignored the sweat running down his brow as he urged quietly, "That's it, Heero... Just let go."

At the gentle request, the Wing pilot's head tossed to his side with a deep growl as his teeth gritted, his eyes still closed tightly. Sitting up fully on his knees, Duo slammed himself into Heero again as his own head fell back while he moaned and panted. Unable to hold back any longer, Heero's head pulled back as he cried out his release. At the sight and sound of his partner's climax as their bodies were coated with the boy's essence, Duo lost himself as he screamed in the wake of his own orgasm. Falling forward, the braided pilot was careful not to hurt his lover beneath him. As they held each other tightly in the shudders of their after shocks, their heavy breathing was the only sound that filled the room.

The silence lingered for a long moment before Heero released the other pilot, bringing his hand to fall beside him as he whispered breathlessly, "Duo." Looking up into those soft cobalt eyes, the American gave a warm, appreciative smile. Returning the endearing grin, the Wing pilot leaned forward to bring their lips together in a gentle kiss.

In the same bed later that night, Heero and Duo slept snuggled closely together with only the sheets over them as their clothing. They laid on their sides, facing each other in the darkness of Duo's room. In his sleep, Heero's arms were folded together as his head was slightly bent forward, as if in prayer, as he snuggled closely to Duo. The braided pilot's right arm was wrapped loosely around the Japanese boy's waist as a support for both of them.

Slowly opening his violet eyes, Duo's gaze adjusted to the dim light creeping from under his closed door to watch his partner's peaceful face. Hesitantly, he whispered faintly, "Heero... You awake?"

It was almost a relief to the Wing pilot to hear his lover's voice. Sleep was not coming too easily even after their lovemaking. There were so many things running through his mind. At least, now he knew that he wasn't the only one having a hard time getting to sleep. Opening his own eyes, Heero looked up at Duo and nodded, relying quietly, "Yea."

A wide smile spread on the American's lips as he propped himself up on one elbow, watching the other boy all the while. "You know," he began, "I was up this whole time thinking how weird it is that we ended up like this... I mean, after everything that's happened, I never would have thought that anything remotely like this would ever happen." Heero remained silent as he looked up at the braided pilot, silently admitting that he felt the same way.

Opening his hand to place his head in its palm, Duo laughed quietly, "I'm sure that you would never have seen things turning out this way, right? Come on, I shot you for Christ's sake when I first met you. There were days I swore that you were going to kill me at some point when we were rooming together at that boarding school." His smile became wistful as he gazed down on the Wing pilot as he said quietly, "And you know what? I wouldn't change any of it if I had the chance."

Heero's lips parted as his eyes filled with what seemed to be shock mixed with disbelief as they widened slightly. Recovering from the glimpse of his concern, he turned his head away to stare blankly at the ceiling as he asked quietly, "You mean it...?" his voice trailed before he could actually voice his question. Worry crossed Duo's face as he gave a questioning hum, urging his lover to continue. Taking a silent deep breath, Heero asked softly, "You really mean that you wouldn't change anything at all? ...You don't regret anything?"

At that, a loving, gentle smile fell on Duo's lips. Wrapping his arms around Heero's neck, he whispered sincerely, "Not a damn thing, the good, the bad and everything in between." Leaning in, he placed a soft kiss on his forehead, he held his lips there a moment before speaking softly, "I could never regret anything that's happened between us since it helped get is here in the first place. I'd gladly go through all of it again if I had to." Moved by those words, Heero couldn't help but give a small, grateful smile up at the braided pilot and wrapped his arms around his lover.

Lowering himself onto his side again as he held his partner, Duo snuggled close as he closed his eyes and smiled, "When all is said and done, as far as I'm concerned, you're worth all of that and much more." His eyes violet eyes closed as his mouth opened in a wide, loud yawn. Heero chuckled softly as he watched, before yawning softly himself. With a tired grin, Duo sighed as he settled himself back down into his bed. His eyes closed after a moment of watching his lover as he whispered, "Good night, Heero."

Gazing on the braided pilot, a small smile fell on the Japanese boy's lips as he replied quietly, "Good night, Duo." His cobalt eyes slid closed with a sigh of content as he and Duo held each other closely. This time, sleep came easily for the two of them.

*   *   *   *   *   *

In the early hours of the next morning, Heero finished tying the laces to his sneakers as he leaned over the side of Duo's bed. Behind him, his partner continued to sleep soundly with a small smile on his face as he snuggled closely to where the Wing pilot had been lying. The soft snore that left the peacefully sleeping pilot was the only sound that filled the room as Heero's mind returned to what it was he needed to do.

While a part of him longed to believe Duo in thinking that he was more than just a weapon, another part of him scorned him for such hopes. When he was changing back into his clothes, Heero felt himself fall back into his training and his mission... back into the role of the soldier that he could never leave, no matter how much he silently wished he could.

Rising to his feet, Heero peered over his shoulder with a saddened frown. Seeing Duo lying with such a sweet smile on his lips almost made him wish that he could just stay with him a little while longer. Unfortunately, circumstances would not allow it. Biting his lip, the Japanese pilot turned fully towards the bed. Placing his hands on either side of the lithe boy beneath him, Heero held his breath as Duo stirred slightly, turning onto his back but not fully waking. Breathing a small sigh of relief that he didn't wake the other boy, Heero took a brief moment to gaze on him once more.

Finally, closing his eyes, the Wing pilot leaned his head down to press his lips tenderly against his lover's. A small sigh left Duo as he continued to sleep during the gentle kiss. When Heero pulled back, his eyes slowly opened to watch the braided pilot as he turned onto his side again. Unable to explain the pain in his chest, Heero straightened again and turned to walk towards the door. Pausing at the doorway, he looked back at his partner's smiling face once more, and whispered sadly, "Arigato... for everything." At those words, he turned and walked through the door as it opened before him.

The sound of the door closing behind the Japanese boy didn't break Duo from his dreams as his hand fell to the warm spot where his lover had been sleeping. With a soft sigh, he whispered faintly, "Heero."

*   *   *   *   *   *

Out in the hallway just outside of his room, Heero knelt to tightly lace his right black boot. Dressed in a brown coat with its sleeves rolled up past his elbows and its collar left without being tucked down, a bit of the white scarf tied around his neck peeked out. The coat was hugged tightly at his waist by a thick, black belt and his dark pants completed the look of a uniform finished with the black gloves that stopped just past the boy's wrists.

When he finished tying his laces, Heero straightened himself and began to walk through the hall when a voice before him asked, "What's the occasion?"

Freezing in his footsteps, the Wing pilot stiffened before turning back to see Trowa standing with questioning green eyes as he appraised the brown uniform in explanation of his inquiry. Remaining expressionless in his face and eyes, Heero gave a firm nod and greeted flatly, "Trowa."

In the back of his mind, the tall pilot somehow knew the answer to his question before he even asked it. Still, Trowa took a step closer before voicing aloud, "Where are you off to?"

Heero gazed out the corner of his eyes as he sighed quietly. Turning his back to the Latin pilot, he shrugged and replied, "There is more counting on our success in destroying Libra than any of you are aware of. The war we're fighting is being fought on another front in addition to the one where we've been battling."

Behind him, Trowa's emerald eyes widened as he absorbed what he was just informed. Meanwhile, Heero continued, "For both sides to be successful, the fighters on each side have to live up to their responsibilities. Our responsibility is to see that the Zechs and the While Fang and stopped and Libra destroyed. Since we can't waist time and risk having another shot fired from its main cannon, I'm going to find a way into Libra, alone."

Trowa's eyes widened further and he yelled, "Are you crazy!? It's suicide to go there alone! You might as well take Wing and self-destruct in Libra's power center!"

Peering over his shoulder to meet the other boy's eyes, Heero gave a small smirk and stated simply, "If I must." Trowa was struck speechless as he watched the Japanese pilot turn his back to him again with wide, green eyes. Without looking back, Heero walked down the hall as he stated, "I was a hypocrite when I told you to follow your emotions. You and the others know more about emotions than I might ever understand. Since I'm still trying to find out what my own emotions are, I can only do what I think is right."

With his shoulders slacking as he watched his friend walk towards the ninth hanger, Trowa frowned, "Heero." Not moving to stop him, the tall pilot continued to gaze silently as Heero faded from his sight further down the hall.

Duo moaned quietly as his amethyst eyes slowly opened. When his vision cleared on the barren spot where his lover had been sleeping, he gasped softly while quickly sitting up, his blanket falling to his bare hips. Duo gazed around the empty room as he called, "Heero?" Realization filled his widened violet eyes with a sharp gasp. With dread in his voice, he whispered, "...Oh no."

That same moment, a small ship carrying the Wing pilot made its way from the ninth hanger.

*   *   *   *   *   *

Storming into one of the lounges, Duo's narrowed eyes burned as he stood in his priest outfit with his clenched fists at his sides as he yelled in rage, "Heero!? Where the hell are you!?"

Trowa never looked up from the book he was reading as he leaned his back against the opposite wall. Wufei looked up with narrowed dark eyes as he continued to flex the small exercise bar in his hands. Quatre nearly dropped the deck of cared he had been playing solitaire with at the table as he turned to the braided pilot with wide eyes, asking in concern, "Duo?"

Panting with his violet eyes filling with fear, the American cried, "Heero isn't anywhere to be found. I've looked all over for him!"

Keeping his eyes on the book in his hand, Trowa shrugged nonchalantly, "You won't find him here. He left a little while ago for Libra. He should be arriving there before too long."

Shocked at both the news, and how calmly it was delivered, Duo's eyes widened. Hissing, his teeth clenched. "I should have known. Goddamn it, I was afraid of this!" he hollered. His tight fists at his side shook as he growled, "He could have had us help him instead of doing this alone. If one of the White Fang doesn't kill him, Zechs will see to it. Either that, or he'll get caught in a crossfire."

Raising his fist, Duo's eyes squeezed closed as he shouted, "Well, he'd better hope to hell he's killed one of those ways, because he's dead the moment I get my hands on him!" Across the room, the other three pilots watched their friend with shock and nervousness. Glaring up to the ceiling, Duo screamed, "I hope you can hear that, up there, pal!"

Meanwhile, Heero's small ship soared towards Libra as it prepared to dock.
