Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing. I wish I could because they are all too cute for words. I do not own the original version of Battlestar Galactica.

Notes: I wish to thank Skylark for giving me the courage to post this fic. *Lots of Hugs*. This fic has its basis from the old version of Battlestar Galactica only in that the ship is similar. I have not taken any storylines or characters from that series.

Battlestar Andromeda Part 1

AC 195
Sank Kingdom
Capital of the World Council

The night was perfect. Just as it had been that night. For the man sitting in a chair on a lonely balcony the night was one of past dreams. Five years, it had been five years today that his hopes for the future had seemed bright, only to have it all taken away not two years later. Prussian blue eyes slowly drifted upwards to look at the stars above him. They were beautiful, twinkling in the sky just like......

With a shake of his head, Heero Yuy pushed the thought from his mind. Taking a sip from the glass of whiskey in his hand, he gave the stars overhead one last look. "Do you still look at the stars at night? Or have they lost their brightness since you have been gone?" he said aloud, knowing there would be no answer back. Three years of loneliness welled up inside of him and unbeknownst to him, a single tear slid down one cheek.

Suddenly the vid-phone on his desk rang, not wanting to be bothered he left it ring. When it did not stop ringing he raised himself up from the chair and walked to his desk. He knew that if the phone did not stop ringing it could be one person. His father, Treize Kushrenada. Wiping his hands across his face in frustration, he pushed the button to and watched as his father's face came into view. "Hello father." Heero said.

"Heero, I am so glad that I caught you at home." said his father.

"Where else would I be tonight. You do remember what the date is father?" Heero said flatly.

"Of course I remember what today is. That was one of the reasons I was calling. I just wanted to make sure that you were alright."

"I am fine father." Heero said.

"Really Heero, don't you think it is time for you to move on. It has been two years; you need to start living your life again. Why don't you call Relena and go out to dinner? She is such a wonderful girl, and she comes from a great family."

"Father...." Heero growled.

"I know, I know. It's your life and I should let you live it the way you want. You can't blame me for worrying about you, you're my son."

Taking a deep breath Heero said, "I understand father that you worry but how many times must I tell you that Relena is my assistant and nothing more. I do not like her in that way. And if you persist on discussing this subject I will hang up now."

"Fine, I won't say anymore."

"Thank you father. I appreciate it." Heero said softly.

Treize nodded his head slightly in response and then said, "There was another reason for my call. I have a new assignment for you."

"I'm listening."

"As you know the situation with the Dakarian's has worsened. The talks have now stalled completely. None of the other planets that we were talking too want to go against the Dakarian's. Word has come that they have now taken control of all the mining satellites in Alpha 1. On top of that our spies have just reported that they are setting their sights on Earth."

Over the past twenty years many of the planets from neighboring systems had fallen to the Dakarian Empire and Treize as head of the World Council had been working on talks between the Dakarian's and the mining satellites in the quadrant of Alpha 1. Many believed that the Dakarian's would never invade the mining satellites as many were owned by the largest corporation on earth, WEI, which was owned by the Winner family. However, if they had truly taken over the satellites, then the situation was worse than initially feared.

"So what do you need me to do, Father?" asked Heero.

"I want you to travel to those planets that we have been talking too and meet with them personally. I am hoping that if they see you in person and can give them the assurances that they need, they will be open to forming the alliance necessary to push the Empire back."

"When do I need to leave?"

"I need you to leave tomorrow morning. You will be traveling on the battleship Andromeda. I have sent all of the information that you need for each of the representatives that you will be meeting. I have tried to set up as many meetings as I can but there are many that you will have to work on yourself." said Treize.

"Why am I traveling on a battleship? Wouldn't it be better for me to just go on a shuttle?" Heero asked.

"Many of the governments that you are meeting with are concerned with our ability to keep them safe. I want to show them that we have one of the best space military out there." There was a slight pause before Treize added, "I am sending you on the Andromeda because I know that it is the best battleship in the fleet and that you will be safe while on this journey. I don't know what I would do if anything were to happen to you."

"I promise you father, I will take great care with my safety."

"I know you will. I have already contacted Relena and she will be meeting you at the space port in the morning."

"That is fine father, is there anything else I should know before tomorrow."

"Well..."

At his father's hesitant tone Heero felt a slight knot form in his stomach. Anytime his father was hesitant to say something it would always be something that he did not want to hear.

"What father? What else is there for me to know?"

"The council has decided that you are to have a bodyguard while you are traveling."

"I don't need a bodyguard." Heero growled.

"I am sorry son, but in this the council voted overwhelmingly. They do not want you to go without protection."

"Don't they know that I am the one person who does not need protection?" At his father's expression he knew that it would be futile to argue. Closing his eyes for a moment to gather his thoughts he then asked, "Who are they sending?"

"Lucrezia Noin. She is the best as you know."

"Yes, I have heard of her, she is very good but I must say that I feel as though she could be used much better in another capacity."

"Well, as I have said there is nothing I can do about it. She will be meeting you both at the space port. And Heero please try to be nice and let her do her job. I know how you tend to get when you get stubborn but it is for your own good."

"Fine father. I will accept the council's decision. Now if you will excuse me I must get ready for tomorrow."

"That is fine. Please be safe. I love you son."

"Love you too father. I promise I will be back in one piece." With that Heero disconnected the vid phone. Walking over to his laptop he pulled up the file that his father sent and after reading the information he shut it down and went to prepare for his mission.

Battleship Andromeda
Commanders Quarters

Sitting at his desk Commander Duo Maxwell knew that he should be reading the many reports that sat on his desk but his mind was not into it. Turning his chair around, he looked out the window of his quarters and stared at the stars and let his mind wander.

Since he was a child at the Maxwell Church Orphanage, gazing at the stars had been his favorite pastime. He had dreamed every day of traveling amongst the stars and when the opportunity to test for the space academy had come up he jumped at the chance. When his test scores had placed him within the top two percent of those tested he was admitted into the academy for officer training.

Four years later he would graduate at the top of his class with an assignment as first officer of the smaller C-class battleship Pegasus. It would also be the day that would change his life forever. It was the day that he found true love, only to have his heart broken a few short years later. Since then his entire focus was on his career. He was now the youngest commander of an A-class battleship; he was single, had no ties planet side and was well on his way to his goal of Admiral of the space fleet. It was a lonely existence, but one that suited him.

Suddenly behind him his computer chimed, letting him know that he had a new message from the space military base in Sank. Knowing that he had new mission specs coming in he opened up the message to read. After a few minutes he swore softly to himself as he pressed the button on his intercom.

"Yes Commander." said his second in command, Dorothy Catalonia.

"Lt. Commander, report to my quarters immediately."

"Yes, Commander Maxwell."

While waiting for his Lt. Commander to arrive he briefly wondered who the Ambassador was, but then pushed the thought. He would find out tomorrow when they arrived, right now however, he had a ship to prepare for the newest mission.
