Royal Affairs Part 8
Trowa sat on his throne and bored to death. The ball had started and they were still announcing people as they entered. He still hadn't seen Quatre enter. He wondered what the blond would look like. What colors the tailor had picked out. Would it bring out the beautiful color of his eyes or not? Nor had he seen Duo enter.
"Hi." Trowa turned to the soft voice and stared almost gaping. "I don't look that bad do I?" Quatre grinned.
Trowa shook his head. "No, not at all. You look wonderful."
Quatre blushed. He was wearing a light blue shirt and tight white pants with knee high black boots. Around his waist was a blue scarf. "Thank you."
"How did you get in with out being announced?"
Quatre giggled. "I came in with Duo. We came in the back way so no one would notice him."
Trowa frowned a bit. "I guess he'll need time to adjust to the new order of things."
"He still can't believe it. I had to drag him here as it was." Quatre carefully looked over Trowa. Trowa had a long cape wrapped around his shoulders and black pants and boots. His shirt was a deep green with gold embroidered into it. The look showed of Trowa's body. Quatre could tell he was strong and lean and oh how he wished the King would take him into his arms... Quatre shook his head. In the pants he was wearing he didn't need to think about that.
"Something wrong?" Trowa voice broke into Quatre's thoughts.
"Um... no."
"So what do you think of the ball so far?"
"Fancy. More up-class than my parent's parties." Quatre smiled at Trowa. "But more fun too."

Heero looked around the room. There had been no sign of the longhaired beauty. He spotted the blond taking to the King. If the blond and Duo had come in together then where was Duo?
"Heero!" Relena's voice carried over. She was next to him in no time.
"Does she have to have that whine like that?" Sally mumbled from Heero's left.
"Seems like it doesn't it?" Meiran said.
Relena paid no attention to them. Her arms wrapped around Heero's right arm. "So glad to see you. You look very handsome."
"Hn." Heero glared down at her arms. "What are you doing?"
"Excuse me?" Relena blinked.
"Let go of me." Heero raised his glare to her.
"Oh Heero, you almost scared me there." Relena's grip tightened.
"Let go of me. Now."
"What do you mean Heero?"
"And stop calling me Heero. You will address me as 'Your Highness' or as 'Prince Yuy'. I have not given you the right to call me anything else."
"But... if we are...."
"If we are to what?"
"To court and wed..."
"Those are your wishes, not mine. Besides you're a woman."
"What does that mean?" Relena frowned.
Meiran stood behind Relena, a smile firmly in place. "It means he doesn't like women that way. He wants to wed and lay with another MAN. Women bring him no joy or pleasure."
Relena stared at Heero unbelieving. Heero had turned away from her and was looking for Duo. He finally spotted him on the other side. He was standing in a doorway to a balcony. Heero crossed the room leaving his friends and Relena behind.
Duo looked around the room nervously. He couldn't believe Trowa wanted him here. Or that he let Quatre drag him into the ballroom. At least he had managed to get Quatre to go through the back way. No announcement meant no one would stare at him. He stepped out onto the balcony and took a deep breath. He never went to the balls and if he did he sat at Trowa's feet.
Duo turned away from the ball and stare out across the gardens below. He sighed deeply. There were others like him out there. He couldn't believe it; he may have a family. He wanted to know what they were like. What they would think of him. Would they hate him for living with humans as a pet for the king?

Quatre watched the guest dance across the floor. It looked hard and very complicated to do. He stood next to Trowa, the young king watched along with Quatre. However Trowa kept glancing over at Quatre. He admired the way the clothes fit him just right. He looked back out at his subjects. Trowa saw the flowing green dress of his sister. She was heading towards him. With her was a young man about her age. He had sandy brown hair neatly combed with a crown on over his head. His was wearing his family colors and royal attire. The two walked calmly and stopped to talk to others. But Trowa could tell Catherine was bringing the prince to him.
"Brother." Catherine curtsied. "I believe you remember Prince Camrin from the Lighten Kingdom."
Prince Camrin bowed. "Your Majesty."
"Yes We remember. How is your family doing?"
"My father sends his regards. The kingdom is prospering nicely."
"That is good."
"Prince Camrin may I introduce our guest. This is Quatre. Quatre this is Prince Camrin." Catherine said.
"A pleasure sir." The prince nodded. "Where do you hail from?"
It was really just a simple question. One that Quatre had no idea how to answer. It wasn't like he could say 'Oh from another world and time.' Or the he simply fell out of the sky after crashing his car over the edge of a mountain road. Luckily for Quatre, Trowa had an answer.
"He comes from a land far away." The king said.
"Oh? How interesting, are you noble?"
Again Trowa came to the rescue. "Of sorts. He was hurt when we found him. He is staying here while he heals."
"You are too kind your Majesty." The prince turned back to Quatre. "You are not dancing, sir. I'm sure lots of ladies wouldn't mind."
"Uh... I don't think so."
"He's been around my brother too much." Catherine grinned. "Doesn't like to dance either."
Prince Camrin turned to Catherine. "Well I enjoy dancing." He bowed to her. "Will you honor me with a dance, my lady?"
Catherine blushed lightly and then curtsied. "Of course you highness."
The two stepped off into the dancing. Quatre stood quietly next to Trowa. Trowa watched with joy as his sister danced. Out of all of the princes that had come to his kingdom, Prince Camrin is the first she hadn't tried to scare off. Most of the princes didn't like her humor or the fact that she could take care of herself.
"Why do you not wish to dance?" Trowa finally broke the silence.
Quatre blinked and looked over at Trowa. He had been trying very hard not to stare at the king or drool over him for that matter. "I... uh... I don't know how."
Trowa raised an eyebrow. "Really? It's really not the difficult."
"I'm afraid I'll make a fool of myself." Quatre chuckled.
The corners of Trowa's mouth raised. "Not if you have a good partner." Before Quatre could say anything Trowa stood up in front of him, his hand held out to Quatre. "Will you dance with me?"
Quatre looked up into Trowa's eyes. "I... I thought you didn't dance?"
"I wish to dance with you."
"Um.. You know I'll step on you feet." Quatre took his hand.
Trowa lead them out onto the dance floor. A new dance started and the room stopped to watch the king dance with his guest. All were in awe as the king hadn't danced in several years. Trowa could care less, he finally had Quatre in his arms and after weeks of longing he was happy. Quatre fit perfectly in his arms and followed his lead just as well. Quatre couldn't believe it. After their talk in the halls earlier in the day Quatre thought Trowa would never dance with him. But that was okay he had plan to stand by Trowa all night and maybe just talk. For a second he wondered if Duo had gotten to dance with Heero. It would make the night almost perfect.
"You're doing wonderful." Trowa's deep voice brought Quatre out of his thought. "And here you were worried you'd make a fool of yourself."
Quatre looked up. "I guess I have the right partner. Um... but why is everyone staring at us?"
Trowa chuckled. "It's been a while since I last danced. I'm sure they are all wondering if I've finally found someone." Trowa pulled them a little closer and tighten his hold just a bit. Hoping that Quatre wouldn't be upset.
Quatre nearly melted into Trowa. He felt Trowa's hands tighten a bit more. Could it really be possible for him to have found some one too? If they were back in his home he would have laid his head on Trowa's shoulder. "I see." He finally said. "And would they.... uh.. would they... be um right?" Quatre couldn't believe he had just said that.
"Perhaps." Trowa's voice was low and his breath caressed Quatre's ear. "That is if someone isn't offended by it."
Quatre looked up. "huh?"
Trowa smiled. "I have no idea how things work in your world. Do two men even fall in love? Is it even allowed?"
"They do, but not everyone accepts it. Many think it's unnatural and wrong." Quatre lowered his head. He almost shivered at what his own family would think of him.
"And how do you feel, Quatre?" Trowa saw the look in Quatre's eyes. It was of sadness and what seemed to be fear mixed up with happiness.
"I think if I was home my family would disown me for having feelings for another man."
Trowa felt his heart leap. His angel had feelings for him. Though he didn't know what he'd do if Quatre left. "They wouldn't approve?"
"No. I'm the only male heir; I have to give the family the next heir. Not as if there's not enough girls in my family to have an heir."
Trowa chuckled again. "In my kingdom it would be allowed. It's not unheard of in many kingdoms."
"I guess if I stay here then it doesn't matter." Quatre smiled up at Trowa.
The dance ended and Trowa and Quatre returned to where the throne was. Trowa had insisted the Quatre sit in the seat next to him. It was a bit smaller than Trowa. He sat and found the chair very comfortable with its cushioned seat and back.
"Are you comfortable?"
"Yes but why do you have a chair next to your throne?"
Trowa smiled. "It is not a chair. It is a throne." Quatre's eyes widened.
"Usually the queen sits there."
"Bu... but I'm not..."
"It's alright Quatre. You can sit there."

Heero stood at the doorway watching Duo. Well Duo's back. He was entranced at how Duo's tail swung. He slowly walked up to Duo. The longhair beauty didn't seem to notice him. He stood quietly next to Duo. Duo was staring off in the gardens.
"It's a lovely night." Heero's voice broke the silence.
Duo jumped. He hadn't heard Heero come up. He had been thinking so hard. "Where? Why?"
"I saw you from across the room. Why? Hn, why not?" Heero took a step closer to Duo.
"Why do you keep showing up?" Duo's eyes narrowed.
"I want to be near you."
"Why the hell for?" Duo growled. "I'm an animal! No one wants to be near me!" He hissed.
Heero almost flinched. "You are not an animal. You look more like me than an animal."
Duo snorted. "Tell that to Lady Une."
Heero took another step forward. They were but mere inches apart. His hand came up and brushed away some of Duo's bangs. "You look lovely tonight." He whispered.
Duo blushed, he had no clue what the prince was doing to him, but he liked it. "I'm not." He whispered back.
"Hn, I think so." Heero's hand came down to caress Duo's cheek. "Would you care to dance?"
Duo stared wide-eyed at Heero. Quatre had been right, there had been a chance Heero would ask. He did so did that mean that Quatre was right about him not being an animal?
"No."
"Nani?" The small almost non-existing whisper surprised Heero. He hadn't expected Duo to say no.
"I said no." Duo bowed his head. He couldn't believe he what he was saying.
"Why?" Heero's eyebrows drew together.
"I... I don't want to be stared at. They..."
"I don't care." Heero almost growled.
"And..."
"And what?"
"I don't dance." Duo whispered. He knew he had upset the prince and he wished he hadn't.
Heero smirked. He lifted Duo's head and looked into his head. "We don't have to dance in front of any one. We can dance out here and I can lead you in the dance."
Duo blinked, here he thought that Heero would be angry and walk away. Not stay and offer an alternative. "O... Okay."
Heero put his hand Duo's hip and took his hand in the other. He slowly moved them around.
