Royal Affairs Part 4
Trowa sat at the table in his study. He looked over some papers. Zechs sat to his right and was giving him a report. Trowa repressed a yawn. He had stayed up most of the night taking care of Duo. When Duo finally came to all he did was apologize. It took a bit for Trowa to realize that Duo thought he had embarrassed Trowa in front of other royalty. Trowa spent the rest of the night telling Duo he didn't do anything wrong.
To help Duo feel better Trowa made the gardens off limits for the day so that Duo could run around freely. He wasn't worried about the Prince and his group, Relena was still showing them around the castle and then they were going into town for a tour. Quatre however was allowed into the gardens. After all Quatre had stayed up and helped most of the night. The only reason Quatre didn't stay up the whole night was he was still weak.
"Are you listening, Your Majesty?" Zechs asked.
"Hmm?" Trowa blinked and looked at Zechs. "Sorry, I was thinking."
"You look tired."
"I am. I stay awake to take care of Duo."
"Why not have Lady Une take care of him?"
"Because everyone here treats him like an animal. Besides he needed a friend." Trowa yawned.
"Perhaps you should take a break. Visit your other guest."
"Perhaps you're right." Trowa stood and stretched. "I wonder if he's still in his room?" Trowa walked out.
Zechs sighed. "He is so hopeless sometimes."

Quatre yawned and stretched. He had just gotten dressed. He looked at himself in the mirror. The clothes were beautiful and they felt wonderful. But somehow he wishes he had a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. He sat down in the chair and sighed. He was still weak and staying up most of the night didn't help.
The door opened and Trowa walked in. "How are you today?" Trowa asked.
"Tired." Quatre smiled at him. "Guess I'm still weak."
"Staying up half the night didn't help, I'm sure. Are you hungry?"
Quatre's stomach growled. "I think that's a yes." Quatre laughed.
Trowa smiled. "I think so too. Come on lets go down to my private dinning room. Nothing too fancy." Trowa held out a hand and helped Quatre out of the chair.

Heero walked around the garden. He had snuck away form his group. He had heard Relena tell them that the King had ordered the gardens off limits for the day. He figured it had something to do with the King's 'pet' as Relena had called him. Personally, Heero couldn't see how anyone could keep such a creature to themselves. That night Heero kept seeing violet eyes and a long braid in his dreams. Today he snuck into the gardens to see if his hunch was right. He rounded a corner and stopped.
Heero saw a large fountain with fairy statues. Laying one the edge was the beautiful creature he had been looking for. The water cascading off of the fairies only made the creature that more beautiful. The sparkles off the water made the creature look mystical.
Heero took a step back. However the creature in front of him had heard him. Turning around the creature's where wide with fear and surprise. He crotched down and looked ready to run. Heero put his hands into the air. "I didn't mean to startle you. I apologize for surprising you."
The creature's eyes look hard at him. "I thought His Majesty closed off the gardens." He said.
"Did he?" Heero lied, he lowered his hands. "I'm afraid that I didn't go forward. "But if the gardens are closed what are you doing here?"
Violet eyes narrowed a bit. "His Majesty said I could be here, hence the reason the gardens are closed."
"I see. I'm sorry for disturbing you." Heero bowed.
"Don't do that!" The creature gasped.
Heero raised an eyebrow. "Why not?"
"Be... because you're a prince. Princes should never bow to someone like me."
"Someone like you? And what are you?"
"Um... ah...."
"Do you have a name?" Heero took another few steps closer.
"Um...Duo." He whispered. "You should leave. I wouldn't want this to start a war or anything." Duo got up and scurried away.
Heero watched him leave. "Duo, huh? Nice to meet you."

Quatre looked over at Trowa. "I thought you said this was nothing fancy?" He eyed the large amount of food on the table.
"It's not." Trowa said.
"Why so much food for two people? You're going to waste it."
"What we don't eat the staff will. If they don't want it I have it taken to town for the poorer people." Trowa looked at Quatre. "I know it's a lot of food. But my cooks never understand that."
"And I thought my family cooked a lot." Quatre mumbled.
"Anything like this?" Trowa was intrigued. Quatre hasn't talked about his family much.
"Well, we do have a cook. Well okay the maid's the cook. But she likes it. She once tried to teach me and two of my sisters the basics of cooking." He laughed. "I can now make a sandwich and soup."
Trowa smirked. "Better than I could do." They both laughed. "What else do you do? With you day I mean."
Quatre smiled failed a little. "I go to school, do my homework." Quatre sighed. "I like to read, play the violin, and listen to music. I like the movies and my computer." Quatre stopped. He had just realized that Trowa had no idea what some of those things were. "I guess you don't know what computer is."
"Or a 'movie'." Trowa leaned back in his chair. "You're not from here. You're from a place much different, aren't you?"
Quatre looked away. "Yes. It seems I'm from the future or something like that. This place is like the Medieval times. Well maybe later than that. I'm not sure."
"Medieval times? Interesting term. Are you sure you're on the same world?"
Quatre's eyes got big. "This isn't Earth?" Trowa raised an eyebrow.
"Oh I'm sorry." Both men looked to the door to see Catherine. "I did not mean to disturb you."
"You have not. Did you need something, Catherine?" Trowa asked.
"I just wanted to talk to you about something. It can wait."
"Have a seat."
"Um well Relena thought it would be a good idea to have a formal ball in honor of your guests. I was wondering what you thought of it?"
"Cathy, I hate balls and you know it." Trowa shook his head.
"Yes I know but we could invite the royal family from the North. I hear the prince is on a visit near here. He could come and represent his kingdom and you could introduce him to the Prince Heero and of course your other guest here. It would be nice. And I could entertain the Prince Camrin while you tended to Quatre here."
"Are you sure its Relena who wants the ball?" Trowa asked. "What with Prince Camrin anyways?"
"I just... well I'd like to see him again." Catherine blushed.
"I hear his parents don't know who to have him marry. Is there something you want to tell me?"

"How did it go?" Heero looked up from his book and looked at Wufei.
"I found him in the gardens. His name is Duo." Heero answered.
"And?" Meiran poked her head out from over Wufei's shoulder.
"I found him to be intelligent."
"And?" Sally asked from beside Meiran.
"And quite handsome. Are there any more questions?"
"Yes did he talk to you?" Meiran asked.
Heero put his book down. "Yes. He seems very loyal to His Majesty. I don't know how far this loyalty goes though. Is Duo just a pet like a cat or is he a bed pet for His Majesty?"
"Good question." Wufei sat down with Meiran by his side. "By the way Relena talk to him I find it hard to believe that he's well liked."
"Yes, but what about that other guy?" Sally asked taking a seat by Heero. "I think Relena said he was a guest too. So what was he doing with His Majesty's pet?"
"Perhaps they are friends or something?" Meiran offered.
"Perhaps. I wonder if His Majesty would have a problem with me wanting to talk to him?" Heero said.
"You never know." Sally said. "Of course His Majesty might think you only wish to borrow him for the night."
Heero got up and walked to the window. He looked out and saw Duo. His window over looked part of the gardens. Duo was chasing a butterfly. Heero smirked. Duo was like an innocent. Then Trowa and his other guest came out to meet Duo.
Duo spotted them and ran up to them. Duo grabbed the blond and pulled him over to where the butterfly had last been.
Heero touched the window and sighed. 'We shall talk again Duo.' He thought to himself.
