Blue Forest Banshee Part 27
"Yo! Duo!"
Duo looked around the courtyard, found no one and finally looked up. Wufei circled a turret and dived for the ground. He pulled a stall and landed lightly on his hind legs, his tail wrapping around him automatically.
"Damn! You're a hard Banshee to find!"
"I just came from Professor Light Hawk's room. What's up, Wufei?" He dropped his bag on the ground, shifting his weight to one leg.
"Oh, yeah! How's the teleporting coming along?" Duo's new look was really pretty good. Wufei wondered if Heero appreciated Duo's really nice, long legs.
"I shifted almost a meter today, and everything stayed with me. Even the lock picks."
"Hey, good boy! An owl is looking for you; you've got mail." He stroked the golden fringe that fluttered like a beard from his reptilian jaw.
"Cool. I hope it's from Shar and Teal. I haven't heard from them in a couple of months." Duo looked up again, scanning the sky for the owl.
"That's your aunt?" Duo nodded. "Why don't you just go for a visit?"
Duo shifted his gaze to the scarlet Were-Dragon. "Personal reasons, Wufei. And I've already asked them to come here. Teal would, but Shar won't leave the Clanhold."
Wufei took hold of Duo's braid, brushing the end over his scaly snout. "Mmm... That's too bad. Hey, Duo; can I brush your hair?"
Duo gave him a wide-eyed look, gently retrieving his braid. "I don't think so, Wufei," he replied, trying to hide a smile.
The Were-Dragon shrugged. "Eh. Worth a try. Oh, here he comes." He pointed, and Duo saw the large brown owl skimming over the wall.
Duo caught the envelope and called out his thanks as the owl wheeled and sped toward the Castle owlery.
Wufei watched Duo's face as he read the letter. "Good news? I hope."
"Oh... Oh, goddess..."
"Duo?"
"It... They... She... Shar -- Shar had a baby!" he cried. "They had a baby!" He grabbed Wufei around the neck, bouncing excitedly. "They have a little girl! Oh, Wufei... Finally something good for her!"
"Hey, congratulations! That's great, Duo! This calls for a celebration! Can I buy you a drink? Get you drunk? Have my wicked way with you?"
Duo laughed and hugged him. "Of course not! I have to go! I've got to write back! I can't believe they didn't tell me!"
He bounded away, still laughing.
Wufei shrugged, and lifted off the ground. It was always worth a try. He flew off to find Trowa and give him Duo's wonderful news.
