Duo was already waiting in the briefing room when Heero arrived.
"Good morning, Duo," he said. "You're early."
Duo stood nervously. "First day, you know... I didn't want to make a bad impression."
"That would not be possible," Heero said smoothly. He took a moment to look Duo up and down curiously.
"That's a new look for you, isn't it?" he asked, indicating the clothing Duo wore.
Duo's face colored slightly. "I haven't had anything new for a while," he muttered.
Heero nodded, taking in the high-collared shirt, the body-hugging leggings, the loose, belted overshirt and the low boots. The colors, light and dark green, looked good on Duo. Heero sort of missed the snug black jeans that Duo usually wore, but the leggings were about equally interesting, from his point of view. Too bad the overshirt covered his butt.
He decided to offer the compliment that hung in his mind.
"Looks good. Traditional?"
"Yes," Duo said quickly. "I wore Human clothes when I lived with them, but now I thought it would be better to go back to my own clothing."
Heero nodded again. "Well, you look great. I still like how you look in jeans," he said softly. "But this is... very sexy."
Duo's face flushed even brighter as he tried to hide a smirk. "Thank you, sir!"
"I guess we'd better get to business," Heero said slowly, not really wanting to take his attention from Duo's long legs and pounding heart. But the job came first. He blinked once, twice.
"The first few things we have are relatively simple; I'll get into them as we go. We'll meet Jake at the Port."
"We can't fly?" asked Duo in disappointment.
"I don't usually fly unless it's within a couple hundred miles. Porting is quicker. I usually use Jake, he's reliable."
Duo already knew that Heero did not teleport. Magical Creatures with the natural ability to fly were not able to teleport. He was just looking for an excuse to fly with Heero again.
"I'm learning to teleport," he offered. "Q says he thinks I'll be able to do it. And Professor Light Hawk says I have all the right vibrations."
"Good. When you're certified, you can do our porting."
"If I'm good enough."
"You will be." He shot Duo a sidelong glance. "Would you like to go flying this weekend? Maybe an overnight trip to the beach?"
"Oh, yes! I'd love it!"
"Great. We can decide the details later."
