Warnings: I'd say Deathfic, but since everyone's dead to start with it's more of a UnDead fic. Zombies. Fluff. Songfic. OOC. Duo as Shinigami.

Disclaimer: Gundam Wing is not mine.

*grin* I was feeling a wee bit depressed this evening, so I decided to cheer myself up.

So, here's fic. Goofy fic too, I fully admit it.

Zombie Jamboree

Heero shook his head and was surprised to see a small clump of dirt land on the ground beside him.

What the hell?

"There you are!" A cheerful voice said behind him. "Typical! Always late for parties."

Heero turned around to see Duo standing behind him, grinning cheerfully.

"Party?" He repeated. "What kind of party?"

"A Jamboree." Duo gestured grandly. "We don't get to do this often. Might as well enjoy it, right?"

Heero lifted an eyebrow as he scanned the area. "Duo- we're in a graveyard. This is a weird place for a party."

"Not in the slightest." Duo's grin widened. "No one has the time to party like the dead do, right?"

Heero stepped closer to his partner, concerned. He couldn't really remember how they'd ended up in the cemetery... hadn't there been a mission of some kind?

"Duo... how did we get here?"

"We drove here." Duo answered, as if the question was a silly one.

"When?"

"Oh, a while ago."

Heero looked around again. "I don't see any signs of a party either. Are you sure we're in the right place?"

"Of course. Shinigami doesn't make mistakes about things like this."

Heero looked around again. "Well then, where's the rest of the party?"

"On their way. I woke you first."

"Woke me first?" Heero repeated. Duo waved a hand at him.

"Relax, you'll see what I mean."

Duo walked over to a nearby gravestone and kicked it. "OI! FEI! You gonna sleep all night or what?"

Heero watched as the ground in front of the grave gaped open and Wufei sat up with a growl.

"I assume there is a reason that you are disturbing me Maxwell? I was finally looking forward to some rest!"

"No rest for the wicked," Duo laughed back and knocked on the next gravestone. "Quatre! Time to get up!"

"Already?" Quatre's grave opened and he stood up, brushing the dirt off his clothes. "I thought we'd get a little rest at least!"

"Hey, we died three days ago. We need to celebrate!"

Died? Heero felt the need to sit down. He was dead? How come no one had told him? It seemed an important kind of thing to know.

"We do?" Wufei snapped. "I thought that meant we finally got some rest!"

"I told you Fei, rest is for the wicked. You have to go join your ancestors and all that. You can't just lie around here all the time." Duo tapped the next stone. "Trowa? Tro?"

"I'm already here." Trowa's voice came from the darkness. "Cathy decided to have me cremated. More ecologically friendly or something like that..."

"Well, we still need to see you for this..." Duo tapped his fingers against the headstone. A glowing outline appeared in the darkness. Color seeped into the edges and in a moment, Trowa stood there, a bit see through, but that didn't seem to worry him.

Duo surveyed the graveyard. "Let's see if anyone else is hanging around, I'm sure some wouldn't mind leaving early." He put his fingers to his lips and whistled a sprightly tune.

Graves began to yawn open all over the cemetery. Duo shook his head. "Just as I thought, some people are so lazy!" He cupped his hands around his mouth and hollered towards a short brunette man: "Otto! You were supposed to be out of here years ago!"

"I had to wait for my king!" Otto yelled back and then turned and bowed to a tall blond figure. "It's great to see you again."

"Thanks Otto," Zechs shook the dirt out of his hair. "You always were loyal."

Beside him, Relena kicked off her shoes. "Finally. I hate heels," she muttered and then turned to the blonde on the other side of her. "I told you that you were driving too fast!"

"Really Miss Relena," Dorothy answered. "Let's not get petty."

"Time to start the party!" Duo called out and somewhere in the darkness, a drum started up and the dead began to dance.

All except for Heero, who sat on his tombstone and wondered what the hell was going on. As the dancers moved, bits of their conversations reached his ears over the music.

"Hey, now that your schedule's clear, think you can finally fit me in Quatre?"

"I thought you'd never ask Trowa!"

"How did you die, Zechs?"

"Well... it's not the sort of thing I feel comfortable telling my little sister..."

"Zechs..."

"If you must know... I choked to death."

"What's so bad about that?"

"Noin and I... We were uh..."

"Never mind, I don't want to know!"

"Hey wait! I lost my eyeball! Can anyone see it?"

Heero watched the dancers pause for a moment.

"Oh ew! Oh wait! I think I found it! It's kinda squished though..."

"What's wrong Heero?" Duo sat down beside him. "Not enjoying the party?"

"I don't get it. We're dead?"

Duo nodded. "Yep."

"How? I don't remember..."

"Well, it was kind of sudden. Remember the last mission when I was working on defusing that bomb and I said 'oops'? Right after that."

"So we got blown up?"

"Basically, yes."

Heero looked down at himself. "I don't look like I got blown up."

"Of course not. You look like you want to look. That's how it works."

"So, we're really dead."

"Yep," Duo replied patiently.

"And now we're supposed to be having a party?"

"Yep," Duo grinned. "Think of it as a Bon Voyage party." Heero thought about that for a moment.

"Bon Voyage? Not a Farewell party?"

Duo shook his head. "Of course not. Death isn't the end Heero. It's a beginning."

"How do you know?"

Duo smiled. "I told you. I'm Shinigami."

Heero looked at the laughing partygoers. "They all seem to be having fun. Do they know what comes next?"

"I imagine they do."

"How come I don't?"

"What did you think it was going to be?"

"I never really thought of it past the death part..."

Duo nodded. "I see. That's why."

"So what am I beginning?"

"Whatever you want."

Heero met Duo's eyes. "I don't know what I want. I just... I don't want to be alone."

"Then you don't have to be alone." Duo's smile grew softer. "Want to stay with me?"

Heero felt a rush of relief. "You'd let me?"

"Of course. I'd be lost without my partner." Duo stood up and offered Heero his hand. "Wanna dance? We have a few hours left til dawn...."

Heero smiled back. "I'd like that..." He took the offered hand and let himself be pulled into the dance.

Back to back, mon, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, oh, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
