Water and Earth Halloween Drabble
The fire raced through the base, consuming everything in sight, sending hungry flames out in all directions. The personnel tried to toss water on it, but the water would, against all laws of physics, twist and turn away from the fire. Hoses refused to work, wells didn't pump; the sprinklers released nothing but air.
The personnel fled the base, giving it up for lost, wanting only to escape with their lives.
"They're all out," said Duo over the mike. "Can I let the water extinguish the fire now?"
"Certainly not," Wufei snapped. "My elementals are precious- do you think I want them drowned?"
Duo rolled his eyes. Damn touchy fire masters. "We can't let the fire burn the whole place down- there's some dangerous stuff in there..."
"I'm aware of that. I've kept my elementals away from it." Wufei snorted. Duo watched as the aura around the other gundam glowed brighter. On the base, the fires began to die down as the elementals, recalled by their master, went back to their own place.
"Nicely done," said Duo when Wufei had finished.
"Thank you. Now yours can cool the hot places and then we can rejoin the others."
Set free, the water elementals burst from hoses and wells and sprinklers, cooling the metal and rock of the base.
"Finished," said Duo after a few minutes. "Let's hope the others are as well."
"There aren't any reports of earthquakes..." Wufei was frowning, Duo just knew it.
"They are more subtle than that. Look for windstorms by the target. Buildings collapsing, that sort of thing." Duo fed the coordinates into Scythe.
"Ah, it looks like they are finished as well."
"Good." Duo was glad to get back and meet up with the others. It made him twitchy to be around the fire master- even if traditionally water had the upper hand. "Let's get out of here."
