The priest settled his robes around him and frowned at his companion. "You could've let me finish drinking my tea. We had time!"

"Negative. Estimated time for you to finish was 300 seconds. The train was leaving in 180 seconds."

The priest snorted, clearly unconvinced. "I can drink faster than that."

"You were spending more time talking to the waitress than drinking."

Another snort. "Check your programming, Heero. That sounded almost like jealousy."

"Search reveals no results for that term."

"Sure it doesn't."

"Check your blood sugar levels, Father. You are not being logical."

"My blood sugar would be fine if you'd allowed me to finish the tea."

The android sighed, surprising his companion. "There should be a dining car on the train. I will go find you some."

"Really?"

"Positive." Heero got to his feet. "Otherwise you will complain for the rest of the trip. It is the optimal solution."

"And you'll put lots of sugar in?"

"Positive."

Duo blew a stray piece of hair out of his eye and watched his companion thoughtfully as he left the compartment. Heero was an android- both organic and mechanical. Most of the time it was easy to forget there was anything organic in there- but at other times...

Pushing that thought away and rubbing his eyes, he wondered what he was going to tell Relena when they got back. The mission hadn't gone quite like it was supposed to- too many people dead...

A cup, more sugar than tea, appeared in front of his nose. "Thank you," he said and took the cup. Heero sat down stiffly across from him , his expression its usual blank.

"You're brooding again," he said.

Duo didn't see the point in denying it. Heero was rarely fooled. "We lost too many."

"More would've been lost without intervention."

"I know that. I know most were lost before we got there. It's just..."

"Any civilian loss is unacceptable."

"Yes."

Duo drank his tea, then put the cup down. Turning he found his companion watching him, his eyes slightly narrowed. "What ?" He asked, not truly expecting an answer.

"Analysis of the situation shows that your solution and actions were the optimal ones."

Blinking, Duo regarded his companion with surprise. "Are you actually trying to comfort me, Heero?"

"Negative. Simply- any doubts will impair your efficiency."

But there was the faintest of worry-lines between his eyes. Or perhaps Duo was simply imagining it.

Either way it was comforting.

"Right." Duo leaned back in the seat and closed his eyes. "Wake me when we get to Rome."
