A Pirate's Life for Me Part 7

Duo looked up in surprise when Heero came back in. "And you said I moved fast?"

"I didn't get as far as the galley." He sat down on the bed beside Duo and held out the note, wondering what the Captain would say. "Hilde was waiting for me with this."

Duo took the note and scanned it, frowning slightly. "A rescue?"

Heero rolled his eyes. "Apparently."

Duo closed the note and handed it back to Heero. "And are you going to let yourself be rescued?"

Heero frowned at his captain. "You know damn well I'm not. It's just- what the hell do I say to her? Sorry Miss Relena, I appreciate the thought, but I'm quite happy on the ship and don't want to be rescued?"

Duo smiled. "You know her better than I do- will that work?"

"It didn't work last time. You told Chang to take her home- and they swore not to come after us..." Heero covered his eyes with his hands and groaned.

"Ah, but it's hard to resist- the brave man who sold himself into captivity for the lady of his heart. Rescuing you from my motley crew appeals to her romantic nature." Duo's smile widened.

Heero shook his head. "Marrying her fiancé should appeal to her romantic nature. What the hell is Chang thinking?"

"She might have come without him."

Heero looked slightly panicked. "Let's hope not. He gets... very agitated when she does something potentially dangerous..."

Duo laughed. "Let me think about this for a bit. If you truly want to stay on the ship, I'll find a way to keep you."

Heero gave him a sidelong look and shook his head. That was the second time the Captain had said something like that. Something had to be done.

With a faint smile, he pounced on Duo, pinning him to the bed, the sheets caught between them. "I can assure you Captain," he said against Duo's lips, "I have no intention of leaving." Then he bent his head a little more, claiming Duo's mouth with his. "Do I need to prove my sincerity to you, sir?" He asked, tilting his hips down slightly.

"Mm." Duo reached up and pulled Heero back down to his mouth briefly. "Breakfast first- and ask Hilde to come see me?"

"Yes sir," Heero slid off the bed. "I'll be right back."

Heero walked into the galley to find Trowa washing dishes as Quatre made breakfast. He smiled at Heero. "Nearly done with the Captain's- not a lot of the crew looking for breakfast this morning."

Heero groaned. "Oh, not again..."

Quatre laughed. "I think you'll be excused from helping. I heard you have a small problem?"

"Small problem- yeah that's one way to look at it." Heero shook his head and looked at Barton. "Captain said the crew agreed to you joining us."

Barton bent his head. "That's good news."

Quatre smiled and Heero moved slightly closer. "He also said to tell you... well,... that he knows. And since Barton and I are on board, it's okay if you want to stop... you know. Unless you want to- and he's fine with that too."

Quatre's mouth dropped open. "Did you tell him?"

"No," Heero shook his head. "He said he knew the whole time."

"He knew the whole... and he didn't...." Quatre stepped backwards and leaned against a barrel, wiping the sweat off his face. "How did... never mind. Tell him I said thank you."

Trowa was watching the conversation with interest. "May I ask what's going on?"

"Ah, the Captain knew I wasn't a girl."

Trowa sat down hard on the floor. "You... you aren't a girl? But the whole ship is..."

"I know-" Quatre gave him a faint smile. "Half of them are my sisters. We didn't want to be separated."

Trowa blinked rapidly. "Ah, okay. Are there... any other things I need to know about this ship?"

Quatre shook his head as he turned back to the stove, but Heero bent down to help Trowa off the floor. "Have you met the first mate? Hilde?"

Trowa nodded. "Several times. Why?"

"She's... very fond of rope."

"Fond... of rope?" Trowa looked puzzled. "Fond of it how? Does she like to keelhaul people? Or hang them from the mast?"

Quatre laughed. "Oh no. She's just very fond of rope." He lifted an eyebrow at Trowa. "You'll see."

Trowa looked slightly apprehensive. Quatre finished with the tray and handed it to Heero. "Good luck."

"Thanks." Heero took the tray and headed back to Duo's cabin, hoping the Captain had found a solution.

~*~

Duo was sitting at his desk when Heero entered the cabin. Hilde grinned at him from her perch on the sofa.

"You're right Captain," she said as Heero put the tray down. "He still looks way too respectable."

Heero lifted an eyebrow at her.

"Ah," Duo grinned. "But can we change that in one day?"

"Oh, I think it's very possible." Hilde grinned. "I can take care of the basics, and Sally can get her needles ready."

Duo choked back a snort of laughter at the look on Heero's face. "I can do that- and I'll talk to Lu about the other half."

Hilde got to her feet and grabbed Heero by the elbow. "Come with me," she said with a grin. "High time we made you look like a pirate."

Duo heard Heero protesting faintly as he was led off. He grinned. They'd show that chit that Heero was his...

~*~

Duo watched as Sally got her needles ready. "You'll be careful?" He asked and she shook her head at him.

"Relax Captain, these aren't going near anything you're interested in."

"Right. How do you know?"

Sally lifted an eyebrow. "Then you are even more perverted than I thought."

The door to her surgery opened and Hilde came in, one hand on Heero's arm. "Here he is. Doesn't he look better now?"

Duo had to agree. The shirt was way more revealing, the vest was tighter, and the boots much more practical than Heero's own had been. He had to hide a grin at the blue scarf around Heero's waist. Hilde had obviously tied it...

"Sit here." Sally patted the chair in front of her.

Heero did as he was told, his eyes widening at the sight of the needle in her hand. "What's that for?"

"We're going to pierce your ear." Sally reached out and took a firm hold of the body part in question. "Just hold still- this will only sting for a minute."

Heero yelped.

Duo crouched down beside him and handed him the bottle he had ready. "Drink some of this- it will numb you a bit."

"Shouldn't I have drunk this before she did that?" Heero winced as Sally fastened the loop in his ear.

"Ah no," Duo smiled. "That was just a little pain. The tattooing will be worse."

Heero looked down at him in shock. "Tattooing?"

"Sure, all good sailors have a few."

"How many are you giving me?"

"Depends how fast you pass out." Duo pushed the bottle into his hands. "Have a bit more."

Heero looked over his shoulder at Sally, who was just lifting up another one of her needles, and took a large swig from the bottle.

~*~

Duo had left once Heero was past the point of feeling pain to arrange for the rest of his plan. Hopefully the girl would get it without them having to resort to extreme measures, but one never knew.

A few hours later he went down to see how things were going. Sally was cleaning her needles, looking satisfied.

"Done?"

She nodded. "Oh yes. I do hope he's not too mad when he wakes up."

"I'll take the responsibility." Duo smiled for her and went to Heero's side.

Heero opened one eye at him. "Bastard. That hurt."

"Then you didn't drink enough." Duo leaned down and slipped an arm around his shoulders, helping Heero up and off the bunk.

"It's not going to do me any good to be drunk tonight."

"Ah, you have a few hours before it wears off."

"Great..." Heero leaned heavily into Duo's side as they headed towards the upper deck. "How is all this going to work anyway?"

"Well, you see, there's two parts to this plan," Duo grinned. "We try the first, and if it doesn't work- I have a backup."

"And the first half is?" Heero asked as Duo maneuvered them into the cabin.

"Ah," Duo closed the door and turned the lock. "Well the first half depends a lot on you looking like you are resigned to your fate." He leaned close and nibbled at Heero's ear.

"And I'm going to do that how...?"

Duo chuckled as he clasped Heero's wrists behind his back, using the scarf to secure them there. He stepped back as Heero tugged at his bonds.

"Damn woman, I should've known!" He glowered at Duo. "Tying me up is going to make me look resigned to my fate?"

"Oh no," Duo grinned, letting his hand wander down Heero's front. "But you looking like this- will definitely help." He slipped around and hooked his foot around Heero's ankle, tumbling him face-first over the arm of the sofa.

"What are you...Oh..." Heero's voice cracked a little as he realized the position he was in... and how had Duo managed to undo his breeches that fast?

"Well," Duo sounded smug, "like I said, we have a few hours." Slick fingers ran over Heero's skin, made him gasp against the cushions.

"And if I'm walking with a limp I'll just look...ah... more resigned?"

Duo didn't answer for a bit, being too preoccupied with other things, and Heero closed his eyes as his Captain's touch sent warm shivers over his skin.

"Maybe," the Captain said, sounding faintly amused. He settled himself firmly behind Heero. "I was thinking more along the lines of making sure you remembered what you said to me this morning- just in case you are the type to be swayed by a pretty woman's pleas."

Before Heero could answer, Duo did something that drove all rational thought out of his head.

"Besides," Duo's fingers gripped Heero's hips as he set a pace. "I've been wanting to do this since that first night..."
