A Pirate's Life for Me Part 4
Ever since he'd overheard the conversation between the captain and Hilde, Heero had been unable to think of little else.
He'd tried. He truly honestly had. He tried to forget the tone of Duo's voice, the rough dismissal... but then he started to notice other things. The way the captain watched him when he thought Heero wasn't looking...
Oh sure, he was an unknown factor on the ship, but he'd been proving himself trustworthy- and the look in the captain's eyes hadn't had anything to do with his job performance.
It was longing...
And Heero burned to answer it...
But... was it the right thing to do? He knew who Duo really was- but Duo didn't know him...
He wasn't too surprised that Duo didn't seem to remember Heero telling him who he was- but the man had been out of his head with the fever. Heero had contemplated telling him again, but he wasn't quite sure how Duo would take it. Did he still honor his family? He was a pirate now after all... and didn't seem too concerned about the family name.
Heero couldn't blame him for that. He'd had much less time with his family than Heero had with his father... and until his father died, they had spent most of their time looking for Duo.
Would Duo want to release him from the pact? Would he even want the service of a Yuy now? Had he turned his back on his family for good?
Heero had made a promise, and he intended to keep it. But it was one thing to pledge himself to the service of the Maxwells- quite another to want to bed the last remaining one... What would his father say? Heero couldn't even imagine.
But... if he did become the Captain's bedmate, he'd have a good reason for sticking close to Duo...
Heero knew that was a flimsy excuse, but it worked for the moment. Besides, there was no guarantee that the Captain would really want him. Maybe he had been reading the other man wrong. It wasn't like he had tons of practice at this...
The ship was quiet, except for Sally and Lu talking to each other in the kitchen. They had smiled at him when he'd come in to fetch the Captain's tray, had told him that they'd tidy up the galley.
He'd wondered if they knew what he had planned. It was a perfect opportunity- the ship was docked, secured and nearly empty...
Carefully, he waited, moving around Duo's cabin, lingering over his tasks as Duo spoke to him, waiting for an opportunity.
Now the Captain was looking down at him, his eyes wide and startled as Heero let his fingers slide up the worn leather of Duo's pants.
"My duties are finished for the evening, Captain. Unless..." he took a deep breath, "unless you can think of some other service I can perform for you?"
He felt Duo tense under his hand, watched the Captain's mouth open and close for a moment.
"I... I don't ask my crew to perform such duties," Duo's voice was rough- but he didn't push Heero away.
"I know." Heero let his hand move higher still. Duo shivered under his touch and Heero bent down to touch his lips to the top of Duo's knee. "You aren't ordering me, Captain- I'm offering."
"Do you... do you know what you're offering?"
Heero smiled. "I have a very good idea, though not much practical experience. I was hoping you could help me out with that?"
Carefully he leaned further in, turning his face up towards Duo, letting his fingers pause for just a moment...
Duo shuddered and bent down, capturing Heero's mouth with his, digging his fingers into the back of Heero's neck, tangling them in his hair.
The kiss was hard and deep and Heero opened his lips, welcoming it, feeling Duo's desperation underneath the desire. He needed this, Heero realized before the sensations Duo was stirring choked off rational thought.
He felt softness underneath him, realized that somehow Duo had moved them to the bed- and his clothes had vanished along the way. It was better not to puzzle out the how- not when there were other better things to do.
He couldn't keep up- Duo's hands and mouth were everywhere- that desperation was fast turning into pure desire- all Heero could do was respond- try and show Duo that he wanted this just as badly...

Duo groaned and covered his eyes. It was too early to be awake. He'd been having the best dream... if only he could roll away from the sun; he could go back to it. But something was holding him down...
He lifted the arm up and squinted at the ceiling. Nothing there. He turned his head slightly and found himself face to face with his cabin boy.
Heero. Here. In his bed...
No. Oh no. He hadn't...
His memory informed him quite cheerfully that oh yes, he had indeed, and his body chimed in that wanted to do it again very soon, thank you so much.
Heero's eyes opened and Duo bit his lip. This was generally the bad part...
"Good morning sir. Shall I fetch you breakfast?"
Duo blinked.
"Um, I'm not terribly hungry yet..." Not for food anyway, his body reminded him as Heero pressed close against his side.
"Then is there some other duty I can perform for you?" Heero's mouth curved up in a smile. "Anything at all?"
Well... he was offering...
Duo pushed him back into the pillows. "I can think of a few things..."
It was much later that Duo stood on the deck, trying to ignore Sally and Lu's grins, waiting for the messenger he'd sent to the old man to return. Heero was in the galley, helping Cook attend to the stranger. Much to Duo's surprise, Cook had returned early, alone, and gone right to the galley to check on the stranger.
Duo huffed out a soft breath. Now that Heero was officially crew maybe he should tell Cook that...
"Captain Maxwell!" The messenger called out from the dock. "His Excellency is waiting for you!"
"His Excellency?" Duo repeated to Sally. "When did he get that title?"
"He must've gotten tired of His Majesty," Sally answered with a chuckle. "I know Lu promised to go with you, but can I steal her instead? I'll need her help bargaining with the merchants..."
"That's fine- but wait til Hilde comes back." Duo looked at the sun. "I hadn't expected the old man to see me this early. Figures I have to go alone."
"Don't," Sally tilted her head back towards the galley. "Take Heero."
Duo turned his head and saw Heero step out of the galley. He heard Sally giggle softly and turned a glare on her.
"Fine." He sighed. At least Heero wouldn't tease him all the way to the old man's place.

Heero followed Duo through the town, keeping his mouth shut and his eyes open. He'd been to a few rough places in his childhood- but never one quite like this. Duo stalked through the crowd, mouth in a grim line, as if he was going to face a firing squad.
Heero wondered why. By all accounts Duo was on good terms with the man who ruled the settlement- why did he look so grim? Was it the meeting or was it something else?
Like last night...? Duo hadn't seemed upset this morning... was he rethinking things?
Heero bit his lip. Last night had been... well, he hoped Duo wasn't rethinking things because Heero wanted to do it again... and again... really whenever Duo was willing to...
"We're here."
Duo stopped in front of a dilapidated house. It was in worse shape than most of the buildings in the town- the whole place seemed to droop...
"This is where the most important man in Sanctuary lives?" Heero asked in disbelief.
Duo nodded. "He says it has sentimental value. I suspect he's hoping if the town ever gets sacked by the Navy that they won't look for him here." He knocked on the door.
A moment later and the door swung open revealing a spry little old man, who squinted through his glasses at the young men on his doorstep.
"Well, well, there you are Duo. About time."
"Right on time," Duo countered grouchily.
The little old man ignored him and turned to look at Heero, his eyebrows lifting up into his hairline. "Duo, Duo- You didn't tell me you'd found Heero Yuy!"
Heero froze as Duo's mouth dropped open in shock.
How did the old man know who he was?
