One Night Valentine Drabble 2
"Are you sure you can handle tonight's duty by yourself?" Duo gave Trowa a curious look.
"Of course. Winner's not leaving the house."
"I thought he had a meeting planned."
"He thinks he does." Trowa smiled. "I sort of had some help from the Magunacs."
"What is he doing instead?"
Trowa blinked at him. "It's Valentine's Day. We're going to have dinner." He shrugged. "I know it's sort of silly, but we haven't had a lot of time together recently, so I thought I'd take advantage of the holiday."
"What exactly gets celebrated?" Duo frowned. "I thought this was a candy and flowers thing- like Easter."
Trowa reminded himself that the orphans would not have learned about major holidays- unless there was some sort of killing involved.
"It's a day to tell the ones you love that you love them." Trowa tried.
Duo looked puzzled. "Don't people do that everyday anyway?"
"No," Trowa shook his head. "I think for the most part people take their loved ones and friends for granted. Valentine's Day is a reminder."
"Hm." Duo said and then smiled. "Well then- if everything is under control here, then I'll be off."
"See you," Trowa returned and went to find Quatre.

Heero looked up from his book when Duo came into the room. "What's up? I thought you had duty?"
"Trowa's covering it. He's keeping Quatre here for dinner."
"That will be good for them." Heero patted the space beside him on the bed. "Is something wrong Duo?"
Duo sat down beside him. "Today is Valentine's Day."
"Is it?" Heero smiled slightly. "That would explain all the red stuff in the stores recently."
"Have you ever celebrated it?"
"No. Why? Do you want to?"
Duo shook his head. "It seems strange- just one day to tell people that you love them?"
"I think it's supposed to be a reminder." Heero put his book to the side. "Do you want to celebrate it?" He couldn't imagine giving Duo flowers or candy, but if he wanted that sort of thing...
"No," Duo smiled up at him. "I don't ever forget that I love you. I will never forget what you've done for me. I don't need a reminder. Do you?"
"No," Heero leaned over and kissed him. "Every day with you is a gift. I don't need more than that."
