For Rochan01's prompt of Horrible fun. I admit that this was going to be Heero giving Duo a suit, but when I went to read up on Iron Man armor, I discovered the Bleeding Edge armor- and I had to pass it on to Solid Steel. And the fun level dropped a bit- but I'm hoping this is fun enough to count?
If you are in Sandy's path- stay safe. *hugs*
Horrible Halloween Drabble
The small grinning jack-o-lantern sitting on top of JAYS main terminal made him pause, his hand still holding on to the knot of his tie, his suit jacket slung over his other arm.
"JAYS?"
"Welcome home sir. I hope your trip went well."
"Why is there a jack-o-lantern on you?"
"Because it's Halloween, sir. It's festive. There is no risk of fire. The glow is artificial."
Heero sighed. "I can see that. I was actually wondering how it got there."
"Do you really have to ask, sir?"
No, he really didn't. He had a pretty damn good idea how the pumpkin got there. "Is he still here?"
"My sensors do not detect him."
"Wraith?" Heero said to the empty air. "Are you here? Duo?" There wasn't an answer. "Did he leave me a message, JAYS?"
"No sir. He just left the pumpkin for you."
Ah. Heero moved then, slinging his jacket over the back of the sofa, and reaching out to lift up the pumpkin. Sure enough, there was an envelope underneath. Heero opened it up and smiled at the contents.
Missed you. Meet me here for some fun? The ticket was for a large Halloween party in the heart of the city. Heero wondered for a moment if the invitation was for Heero Yuy or Solid Steel. He shifted his shoulders a little and winced at the resulting soreness. Well... it wasn't like there was a lot of difference now...
"Incoming call, Mindseye."
"Take a message. I sent my report in on the way home. Tell him I'm fine and I'll call him tomorrow."
There was a long pause as Heero changed out of his business suit and into jeans and a sweater.
"Mindseye thanks you for the report, will await your call tomorrow and requests that you make time to visit Dr. Barton."
"Note it for me." Heero slipped into a comfortable pair of shoes and headed for the garage.
"Affirmative."

The Halloween party was being held in the natural history museum in the center of the city. The tickets were expensive and the crowd was rowdy. Just the sort of crowd that Wraith would enjoy doing his job in, Heero thought as he headed up the stairs. He handed over his ticket at the door, ignoring the ticket-taker's gasp of recognition. Maybe he should've worn a costume or even just a mask- he should've thought of something... but after his week, he was rather tired of costumes.
He just wanted to see Duo.
The central part of the museum held the majority of the partygoers. A stage had been set up and dancers swirled in the main hall. The lights were dimmed and glowing pumpkins and spiders hung from the walls. Heero moved through the crush. There was a haunted house tour located on the upper levels, and small groups were being sent through. Their screams and laughter drifted down over the party below.
Heero didn't see any sign of Duo as he wandered around the main halls, so he moved to join the line for the haunted house. He refused to join any of the groups around him, so when he stepped past the doorway into the upper levels, he was alone.
Or so he thought.
He hadn't taken two steps when a familiar voice breathed in his ear: "Here you are- at last."
"Wraith."
"Solid Steel," his lover's voice held a tinge of laughter. "What are you supposed to be? Casual Friday?"
"Well, it's not like I have a lot of costume choices at home," he temporized, turning slightly. He couldn't see Duo- had he even materialized? "And I was out of town-"
"I know. I missed you." Lips brushed the back of his neck. Ah, there he was. Heero turned; catching Duo and holding him close for a moment before his lover gave him a gentle tug. "This way..."
"I'm supposed to follow the glow in the dark spiders..."
"You'll have more fun following me."
"The cameras..."
"Are currently malfunctioning. Come on, Heero- be a bad guy for tonight, all right?"
Suddenly, a panicked scream creased the air, making them both jump. "Crap, that's pretty damn realistic..."
Duo interrupted him. "That wasn't part of the show..." Another scream echoed through the building.
"It's the main hall!"
Heero exited the haunted house only to find the party in confusion, people running around screaming- and on the stage- two rather familiar figures.
"Damn it. Frozen Fury and the Scarlet Schemer. Where the hell are Rose Garden and Dragon?" He was about to start down the stairs when Duo caught his arm.
"What the hell are you doing? You don't have the suit!"
"Sorry about this Duo- but I sort of do." Heero ducked behind a large display case, dragging Duo with him. "Give me a minute. This is new." He closed his eyes and concentrated.
Damn, it hurt...
When he opened his eyes, Duo was staring at him, his eyes wide, horror-stricken. "Heero, what the fuck did you do-!"
"It wasn't my idea. I had a hell of a week, okay? JAYS, do you read me?"
"Loud and clear, sir. Golden Dragon and Rose Garden are on their way. They request that you slow the ladies down."
"Roger that. Duo..."
But his lover had vanished.

Heero reentered his penthouse wearily. He didn't envy Dragon and Garden having to deal with those two blonde maniacs on a regular basis.
"Any messages, JAYS?"
"No sir."
Damn it. He made his way to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror for a moment. The new suit was much more streamlined, more form fitting- well that was only to be expected. He concentrated for a moment, biting his lip as the suit slid once more into hiding. Maybe it would hurt less as he used it more?
"Damn it, Heero. What the hell happened on that trip?"
He whirled to find Duo leaning against the shower door, his expression unreadable.
"Let's just say I went to talk to a genius inventor for Quatre, only to find that he'd slipped over into mad science. He integrated me with my suit- he was hoping for a puppet superhero."
Duo's expression darkened. "You said it was just a business trip."
"It was- something came up while I was there. Honest- I didn't know I was heading into anything like that."
Heero reached out cautiously, uncertain of Duo's reaction, but his lover accepted his embrace easily, sliding his hands across Heero's shoulders. "Are you really okay?"
"Yes." Mostly.
"JAYS said Mindseye wants Trowa to see this new armor. Make sure you're okay. You'll go?"
Duo had talked to JAYS? "I will. Don't worry; I'll have him check it out." Heero tightened the embrace. "Sorry about tonight. We never did get to have any fun at the party."
Duo laughed softly in his ear. "Well, there was some. I mean- you got to fight crime and I got to commit some, what with all the confusion-"
"Duo! You-" Duo cut him off with a kiss.
"What? The night's not over yet. I'm sure we can still have some fun together." Duo put his forehead against Heero's. "But tomorrow you are going right to Trowa's. I want him to make sure you're really okay."
"I will. I promise."
"You'd better. I plan on having a lot of fun with you in the future. You'd better be around for it."
