Okay, so Plaid asked for more in that Family Reunion storyline I had going in the Cousins universe- which was good cause that story wasn't finished and was in my rotation for this summer. So, here it is completed! I can cross another one off the list. This is the whole thing- including earlier parts- slightly adjusted to make it this holiday- and wrapped up! This is the Sanzo and Duo are cousins uni, and if anyone knows who the blonde older lady in the kitchen is I'll- I don't know- do something for you. She's from another fave uni of mine.

Family Reunion

"Hey."

The voice was familiar, but unexpected. Sanzo looked up from his newspaper with a slightly hunted look.

"You alone?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm down here on a job and saw you." Heero smiled as Sanzo relaxed. "I should ask you the same thing. Where's yours?"

"Meeting me in about five minutes. Lunch?"

"No thanks. I have to get back to the office. I just saw you and had to ask how Goku got you to agree to Saturday."

Sanzo frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Saturday- the family reunion? Duo said you two were going to show up for once. I couldn't believe you agreed-"

"I didn't agree. I tossed the fucking invitation into the circular file the minute it arrived."

"Well somehow it got out of the circular file and the family is expecting you."

"How the hell-?" The answer to Sanzo's query appeared behind Heero's shoulder.

"Hey!" Goku grinned at the two grim faced men and plopped down in a chair. "I didn't know you and Duo were meeting us for lunch today!"

"We're not- I just was down here for a job-" Heero, no fool, noted the signs and decided that it was prudent to make a break for it. "And they are expecting me back in the office. See you two Saturday!"

The moment he vanished, Sanzo turned on Goku. "Did you tell my relatives that we were going to that fucking thing on Saturday?"

"Course! I found the invite in the trash- must've fallen off the table or something- lucky thing I did too! I can't wait to meet the rest of your family!"

"You can wait a lot longer. I'm not going."

Goku picked up the menu and smiled sunnily. "Well, if you don't want to, that's okay! I'll just go by myself! I'm sure I can catch a ride with Duo and Heero. I'll take the picture album- It will be fun!"

Sanzo groaned and picked up the paper again, tempted to swat Goku with it. But what harm could paper do? He should've brought a book. A heavy book. "You aren't going!"

"I was invited! Of course I'm going!" Goku's smile changed a little. "Think of all the stories I could tell- catch your family up on-"

Sanzo wondered if it was possible to somehow tie Goku up until Saturday was over...

"He's really going?" Duo grinned at his lover over the morning paper.

"Goku looked determined."

"I wouldn't bet against him," Duo grinned a little wider and folded the paper. "Then again, I've been waiting for you to try and give me some excuse why you couldn't go with me."

"And miss all the fun?" Heero spread peanut butter on his toast and lifted an eyebrow at Duo.

"You usually try to get out of it."

"Duo, in all respect- your family is insane. Last reunion I went to, you left me with that other crazy cousin of yours who spent an hour talking to me about the best sexual positions."

Duo blinked innocently at him. "But didn't you learn something?"

"No. I was traumatized by the pictures he used to highlight his talk. Don't you remember? It took weeks before I wanted to-"

"A few days," Duo corrected.

"It felt like weeks."

"Good save- and vaguely complimentary. Thanks." Duo reached out and swiped at the smudge of peanut butter at the corner of Heero's mouth.

"You're welcome. But this time- well, if Sanzo is really going- and Goku's coming with him- then I can hide safely in a corner and just watch the chaos."

"What makes you so sure there's going to be chaos?"

"Duo- this is your family. There is always chaos. Why do you think I keep saying we should elope?"

"I thought it was because you wanted me to be yours legally."

"That too- which I guess proves I'm crazy enough to fit into your family- since you keep saying no and I keep asking."

"I'm just making sure that you're really sure. Once it's done there's no escape from me, you know."

Heero rolled his eyes and picked up the paper. "I was trapped forever the day I met you and you know it."

"You're delaying."

"I'm shaving."

"You've been shaving for the last twenty minutes. Usually it takes you five. Give it up and get dressed already." Goku leaned against the doorframe and smiled. "Or do I get to hit you over the head and put you in the car just like you are?"

"Are you already trying to give my elderly relatives a heart attack?"

"Please, if I wanted to do that, I'd get out those Halloween costumes from last year and-"

"Don't even go there." Sanzo wiped his face off and headed for the closet. "Why the fuck did I even agree to this?"

"Because going with me is better than letting me go alone."

"I knew I should've just walked away that night in the coffeehouse," Sanzo muttered as he flipped through his shirts. "What the hell was I thinking?"

"That I was incredibly good looking- and young- and when would you ever get that sort of offer again?" Goku snagged a shirt off a hanger and handed it to him.

"A moment of weakness."

"Longer than that- I'm still here."

"Because you don't leave when I try to throw you out and I haven't managed to piss you off enough to leave on your own yet."

"And you won't. Ever." Goku pushed Sanzo back against the wall, capturing his mouth.

"If you don't let me go we're going to be late." Sanzo pointed out a few minutes later.

"Nothing wrong with being fashionably late."

~*~

"Damn, they aren't here yet."

Duo rolled his eyes. "I have a feeling Sanzo managed to back out at the last minute."

"Are you trying to ruin my fun already?"

"Would I do that?" Duo looked past Heero, his eyes widening. "Uh oh."

"Uh oh what?" Heero frowned at him. "What's behind me?"

"You mean who," Duo grinned and picked up a beer from an ice chest, passing it to Heero. "Here, you'll need this."

Heero risked a glance over his shoulder, then looked back at Duo, eyes wide with panic. "Hide me!"

"Too late!" Duo muttered and then raised his voice. "Hey you two! It's nice to see you!"

"Likewise," a tall blond man hugged Duo as his dark-haired companion exchanged nods with Heero. I'm glad to see you two! I brought some more pictures..."

"I have to find the bathroom," Heero announced and beat a hasty retreat.

Goku looked around the park at the crowd of people and then smiled at his lover. "So, aren't you going to introduce me around?"

"Why? If we stand here long enough people will come to us."

Goku shook his head. "No stamina at all."

"You prefer someone with stamina?" Sanzo's lips twitched as he looked around. "Ah, then come with me. I have someone for you to meet."

Before Goku could speak, Sanzo took his elbow in a firm grip and led him over to where Duo was standing with two men. Heero was nowhere in sight, Sanzo noted.

Smart man.

"Duo," he said with a smile for his cousin. "You know Goku. This is my cousin Zechs- and this is Wufei."

"No relation." Wufei said as he shook Goku's hand.

"Not blood anyway," Zechs added and lifted an eyebrow at Sanzo. "I'm surprised to see you here. I thought you said you'd rather be disemboweled with a spoon than come to one of these."

"He would," Goku grinned.

Sanzo just smiled. "I was hoping you brought some of your pictures with you- I wanted Goku to... experience them."

Zechs' eyes lit up. "It so happens that I did!"

Smirking a little, Duo leaned against the wall as Wufei muttered something under his breath and vanished into the crowd.

"Hiding out in the kitchen, I see," Sanzo raised his eyebrow at Heero, who was chopping industriously away at a large pile of vegetables.

"He offered to help," the woman sitting at the table grinned at him and tapped the glass in front of her. "Are you willing to help your old granny too?"

"You aren't my granny," Sanzo retorted, but he still picked up the bottle of vodka from the counter and brought it over to her, claiming the other chair. "Some sort of great aunt, I thought?"

She flicked her blonde hair out of her eyes and laughed. "Hell if I know, kid. I don't keep track of things like that."

"Where did you leave Goku?" Heero cut in and Sanzo smiled.

"With Zechs- apparently he brought his picture collection again. I'm sure Goku is very impressed."

"Not worried about him getting too impressed?"

Shrugging, Sanzo drained his drink. "It has to happen sometime." A loud explosion from outside didn't even make them flinch.

"Sounds like the grill is ready." The older woman got to her feet and headed for the fridge. Taking out a large plastic wrapped covered platter, she winked at them and left the kitchen.

"If that's the grill- I worry about the fireworks tonight," Heero remarked as he stacked carrots neatly on a platter.

"The last time I was forced to come to one of these, they managed to blow up a garage. I'm thinking I'll leave before it gets dark."

"That sounds like a good plan to me."

~*~

"Have you seen Sanzo?"

Duo squinted at the bouncing man in front of him. "Not lately- the last time I saw him is when Zechs and you started talking-"

"Hm. Wonder if he took off for home."

"Would he leave you here?"

"If his family annoyed him enough, yes."

"You guys have an odd relationship, you know that?"

"Oh yes." Goku scanned the crowd. "I don't see him- maybe he's inside somewhere. Hey- who is that Heero is talking to?"

Duo looked- and frowned. "Another one of my cousins. I'd better go rescue him- Quatre can be quite- aggressive."

"They don't look like they're arguing- Heero's just nodding-"

"That's what worries me. Quatre has a way of putting things that make you agree with whatever he says- and the next thing you know you're trying to explain to the police officers that you were just trying to free the hedgehogs from their terrible imprisonment-"

"Huh?"

"I'll tell you later. I'd better get over there before Heero agrees to something-"

~*~

"Here you are."

Sanzo didn't look up from the paper. "Here I am. Is dinner burned yet?"

"Almost, I think." Goku leaned over to drop a kiss on the top of Sanzo's head. "Ready to go home?"

Sanzo gave him a suspicious look. "We've only been here a few hours- we haven't had dinner, they haven't blown anything up yet-"

"Yeah, but I think I'm ready to go."

"Really? Why?"

"Maybe I see your point- a nice quiet evening at home sounds much better than staying here."

Sanzo folded the paper and regarded his lover carefully for a moment. "Ah. Zechs' pictures were inspiring, hm?"

Grinning, Goku pulled him out of the chair. "Not so much inspiring as challenging- I think you and I could do so much better...."

Heero sat on the curb watching as the firemen swarmed over the house, shaking his head. He smiled a little when Duo dropped down beside him, a hot dog in one hand and a soda in the other.

"You have to admit- the light show was pretty spectacular."

Biting down on a laugh, Heero snagged the soda can and took a sip. "It was pretty impressive."

"I was thinking- we should do this at our place- next year- what do you say?"

"I think I should say: please no, Duo. I'll do anything else- but not that!"

"Spoilsport."

"I like our place- I don't want to see it destroyed."

"So- anything else I want?"

"Why do I have a feeling I'm going to regret this? Yes, Duo. Anything else you want, I'll do."

"Vegas is only a few hours away- feel like eloping?"

"Are you serious?"

"Very."

"Let's go."
