Halloween Drabble 37
"You aren't serious." Wufei eyed the pile of corsets and stockings on the chair with a disgusted shiver.
"Of course I am." Zechs sprawled on the bed and smiled cheerfully. "You know it's a theme party-"
"I remember," Wufei rolled his eyes. "I knew I should've gone with you to get the costumes."
"You were busy with that case. How did it go today? I went into the office to find out, but you'd already gone-"
"Bad." Wufei sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed. "He found out we were coming for him somehow- or maybe he just got nervous when he couldn't get a hold of the supplier."
Zechs edged closer. "He didn't- I didn't hear-"
Wufei shook his head. "Nothing like that. He wasn't gunning for us. Not that he could have, poor bastard. He tried to kill himself- tried being the operative word."
"Was it bad?"
"Messy," Wufei rubbed his eyes. "Just... messy."
Reaching out, Zechs pulled Wufei down beside him. Wufei went unresistingly, putting his head down on Zechs' shoulder with a faint sigh.
Carefully placing his fingers against Wufei's temple, Zechs rubbed gently. "Too messy to talk about?"
"Rather not. I'm trying to forget I saw it. The medics think he'll pull through, but he's on suicide watch."
Sometimes the best thing to say was nothing at all. Zechs waited, his fingers moving over Wufei's forehead, until he felt the other relax.
"Want to stay here or help me drop Relena's and Dorothy's costumes off?"
Wufei turned his head slightly and squinted at Zechs. "Relena and Dorothy?"
"Of course. They were really busy with that new legislation this week, so I told them that I'd get their costumes too."
"You deceitful..."
"All I said was yours was on the chair. It is- under theirs."
"And it's not a corset?"
"Not unless you want to trade with one of the girls."
"Thank gods. I was afraid I was going to have to kill you."
"Don't say that until you see your costume...."
