"That smile- it just makes my toes curl!"

"And that body of his- the way he moves-"

"Imagine that hair down... in bed..."

Heero repressed a smile as he stood on the elevator, beside his best friend, making their way up to their offices on the fourth floor. The whispers behind him, amused him. Duo seemed to have that effect on... well, lots of people.

Even himself.

Course, it wasn't all the time. Most of the time, Heero managed to keep his thoughts about his best friend and business partner where they belonged. Duo could smile at him, or sweep across the room, or laugh and flirt with people-and Heero wouldn't think much of it at all. It was just... Duo.

But they might be working late on a project- and he'd catch a glimpse of Duo, his expression intent, attention focused on their work- and he'd want nothing more than to kiss him, push the project to the side and demand that Duo turn that look on him...

Or sometimes, Duo would call him late at night, or early in the morning, an idea having popped into his head, and Heero wouldn't be able to concentrate on more than the tone of Duo's voice, that purr sliding over his sleepy brain with an electric touch.

Oh... and when those ideas turned into projects... when they'd sit up late to draw them out, to plan the steps, find the components, argue over the possibilities... too many times, he'd have to think of an excuse- coffee or a sandwich or an early meeting... a reason to leave, to clear his head, if only for a moment before he gave himself away. If he didn't...

Well. He would lose his best friend. Lose his business partner. Those things were more important than the fact that sometimes Heero simply wanted to grab Duo and... well... do some of those things that the ladies behind them were talking about... things that were making his partner turn a faint pink.

Heero wanted to lean over, feel that flushed skin against his...

He closed his eyes and forced himself to take a deep breath. He couldn't think that way. It was almost the weekend. He could lock himself up in his apartment and get his head straightened out again. It wouldn't be the first time...

"Hey," Duo said, nearly in his ear, making Heero start. "Are you okay?" the elevator chimed and they stepped off, into the quiet of their hallway.

"Yeah," Heero took another deep breath and opened his eyes. Duo was leaning close, his attention focused on his partner in a way that made heat curl in Heero's stomach. "Just... tired I guess. Didn't sleep well and all that. I'll make some coffee, or something. I'll be fine."

"Hey, it's Friday- if you just want to go home- call it a three day weekend- get some rest. I'll even drive you home so you don't have to catch the train-"

"No, no- we have things to do- that project! Besides, you know how the boss is about leaving early."

Duo laughed. "Yeah, that Mr. Maxwell. What a slave-driver." The idea for the business had been Duo's after all. He'd developed the plan and presented it to Heero, asking him if he'd be willing to leave the Preventers and work on it with Duo.

Heero didn't tell him that he'd be willing to do anything Duo asked. He'd just been grateful that Duo had asked him instead of one of the others.

Duo opened the door and Heero followed him into their offices. They weren't very big yet- it was really just them and a part time secretary who came in on Monday and Wednesday to help with the paperwork, but they were doing well. Duo was hoping to get some full time help in a few months.

"Seriously, Heero. We don't have any meetings today." Duo put his bag down on his desk and frowned a little. "Listen to your boss, okay? Maybe half a day?"

Heero smiled for him. "Half a day," he agreed, just to get Duo to stop worrying. That got him a look he couldn't identify."What?"

Duo shook his head. "Guess you aren't the only one that's tired- just thinking- you never smiled much before- during the war."

"If it bothers you, I can stop again," Heero tried to tease.

"I don't want you to, even though-" Duo trailed off, his gaze suddenly focused on his shoes.

"Even though?" Heero prompted, but Duo didn't look up from his shoes. "Duo? Is something wrong?"

"Ah hell-" He turned rapidly, catching Heero by the shoulder and pushing him into the wall. "It makes me want to do this-"

The kiss was rushed- a brush of lips- a hint of warmth- and the moment Duo tried to pull away, Heero reversed their positions, pinning Duo against the wall and coaxing him into continuing.

He couldn't help it- couldn't make excuses- couldn't walk away- here was the one thing he couldn't control his reaction to- the touch of Duo's mouth on his-

It took ages before he managed to pull himself away. Duo was looking at him in such a way- his breath caught in his throat.

"Heero?" Duo questioned. His voice had deepened, become that early-morning purr. His eyes were intent on Heero, his expression focused- and a little predatory. "That was-"

"I know-" Heero kissed him again, helpless against the urge now- but it was okay, more than okay- because Duo was opening his lips under Heero's, welcoming the assault.

"Thank god, Suzie's not here today-" Duo muttered as he slid his hands under Heero's shirt.

"Work-" Heero started and was promptly cut off again.

"I'm trying. Focus here, please?"

"Whatever you say, boss..."
