Fangs & Fur Drabble 6
Duo's sitting across from me, practically radiating excitement. I know he's happy to be back on the job again- even if that fire elemental his friend sent seemed a bit extreme for a message.
It was funny how he just assumed I'd go with him- as if he truly thought we were partners- for a moment it made me happy. But I know that's not why he wants me close.
He hasn't said anything about the binding I could do- the one that would protect him from the others- but bind him more closely to me. I haven't wanted to push- not even a little. So I have kept my distance these last few days. When Duo needs me to feed, then he'll ask.
Maybe. He is somewhat stubborn on that topic.
All the same, I'm not touching him without his permission again. I saw how afraid he was the night of the full moon- how relieved he was when he returned home safe. I watched him all night, but he doesn't know that.
The train stops and we head into town- our first stop is the guardian's store. The dragon is still in the front and I watch Duo scoot by it carefully. He banters with the guardian and I find myself wondering if there is a solution to our problem here. If the guardian can find a way to keep Duo safe from vampires- some plant, some potion-
Then all I have to do is walk into the sunlight and Duo will be free...
