Californication Drabble
Heero gave Duo an amused glance over the top of his sunglasses. "You look like you're going to throw up. Relax, will you?"
"What if you don't like it?"
"Duo, I already love it." Heero smiled. "You took pictures, you videotaped a tour, you've described it to me a dozen times."
"That's not the same as seeing it."
Heero reached out and slipped his fingers under the base of Duo's braid, letting his fingers cares his lover's nape. "I know- and I am sorry I couldn't be there- but if you hadn't have made the offer right away we would've lost it."
"I understand," Duo gave him a brief smile. "It's just- I really want you to like it."
"I already do. I'm really looking forward to this- you know I am. We have a week before we have to be in LA again..."
"Don't remind me," Duo groaned. "Can't we skip it?"
"It's the premiere. We went to mine."
"We went to the press junket for mine- isn't that enough?"
"Why are you worried? Everyone loved it- it's getting good reviews already!"
"I know, but Quatre put a lot of money into it..."
"That he's getting back, relax." Heero leaned forward in his seat as Duo turned down a street. "Isn't that it? At the end?"
"It is," Duo swallowed nervously. "What do you think?"
"The pictures didn't do it justice."
Duo stopped the car in front of the house and they climbed out. "Good view, right?" He asked, pointing over the low fence at the expanse of water just visible in the distance.
"I'm so glad we found one right on the Sound." Heero hurried up the walk, pulling Duo along with him. "Especially one like this."
Duo dug in his pocket for the key and then opened the door, letting Heero go first. Heero had agreed with his wish to buy a house in his hometown, and they had both wanted to find something special. Duo had fallen in love with the old Victorian at first sight- the dark wood floors, the way the rooms all opened into one another, even the claw-footed tub appealed to him.
He followed Heero around the house as his lover explored the rooms, watching carefully for any hint of dissatisfaction as Heero looked over the house.
They were back in the kitchen again when Heero turned and pulled Duo close. "It's a lovely house. We need to put a shower in, but other than that- it's perfect."
"You really like it?"
"I love it." Heero smiled. "I really do." His smile was infectious. Duo returned it, nuzzling his head against Heero's chest before lifting his mouth for a kiss.
"I'm so glad," he murmured against Heero's mouth as he pushed the other gently back against the counter.
"Mmm," Heero managed as Duo's hands started to wander. "What are you... oh... but there's no bed here..."
"Who needs a bed?" Duo smiled. "We can start christening the house right here..."
