I just want to point out that this ficcy is not my fault. Nope. It started with Sami and her brochure. Then Merith poked!
I got extra help from this website, in case anyone wants to have their own Brokeback Adventure. *grin* I didn't have a brochure.
Brokeback Holiday
"So, where do you think we should go?" Duo tossed another handful of travel brochures at his roommate. He had stopped at the travel agency on his way home, excited that Heero had agreed to go on a trip with him. Not that he was going to read too much into that, not at all. He was just going to be happy that Heero had agreed to go with him and enjoy spending time with his best friend.
Hoping for anything else was out of the question...
"Well, not here," Heero pulled out the Las Vegas one and tossed it towards the trashcan. "I don't want to lose a lot of money- and I'd like to do something other than stay in a hotel."
"Okay," Duo flipped through the brochures, tossing some towards the trash himself. "No...maybe... no way.... hm." He pulled one out and studied the pages. "How about this one?" He handed it to Heero who noted that it was for Alberta, Canada. "We can go on a Brokeback trip of our very own making!"
Heero blinked. "Excuse me? A what kind of trip?" Had Duo just suggested what Heero thought he was suggesting?
Maybe Heero hadn't been listening? "That's what it says!" Duo pointed at the slogan on the brochure. "We can camp in the areas where the movie was filmed. You do remember that movie right?"
Of course he did. "Sure, it's the one that made you and Hilde cry all the way home."
"I wasn't crying!" Duo snapped indignantly. "And besides- you were too!"
"I didn't cry all the way home, I stopped before that," his literal minded roommate pointed out.
Duo waved his hand in the air. "That's beside the point. What's wrong with going on a Brokeback trip of our own making? We've got all the camping gear!"
Well, it sounded like Duo was serious. Heero looked at the brochure and then back up at his roommate. "Are we going to take the foam rolls or the air mattress?"
Duo blinked. What kind of question was that? "Doesn't matter to me, why?"
"Cause if you are planning on seducing me in the tent I'd prefer the air mattress."
Duo's mouth dropped open. "Say what?" Had Heero just suggested... and not only suggested, but sounded okay with it...?
Heero was studying the brochure again. "If you really want to get into it, they have a little map we can follow."
"For seducing you?" Duo croaked. His brain was stuck on that one point.
Heero looked up. "No, of movie sites that we can visit." He gave Duo an odd look. "Do you need an instruction manual? It can't be that difficult..." He'd never imagined Duo would need help with that kind of thing.
"No I don't need an instruction manual!" Duo was indignant. They weren't even doing anything yet and Heero was already critical of his performance?
"That's good," Heero replied absently as he picked up the other brochures. "Are you sure that's where you'd like to go though? I mean- we haven't even looked at these other ones."
Duo looked at his roommate for a long moment. "Um, Heero?"
"Yes?"
"Would you really be okay with me...uh...seducing you in a tent?"
"I wouldn't agree to go on a 'Brokeback' trip if I wasn't," Heero lifted an eyebrow at him. "Wasn't that your reason for asking?" It occurred to him that maybe he had missed something somewhere. It had sure seemed like that to him...
Duo blinked. Well, it hadn't been, he'd just been quoting the brochure, but.... He wasn't one to let an opportunity like this slip by either.
"Well, you know... it's just our vacation isn't for a while yet. Maybe we could...um... get a head start on things?"
Did he mean? No, better to be careful this time, Heero decided. "You mean like book the campsite?"
Duo reminded himself that it was Heero he was dealing with. He slid closer to Heero on the sofa.
"No, I meant that a tent wouldn't be the ideal place for a first time.... Maybe we could start right here instead?"
Heero smiled, pushing the brochures out of the way. "Sounds good to me..."
