Two Flirting Doves Part 2
Duo dug around in Heero's kitchen cabinet for a cup and came back with something way in the back. "You still have this?"
Heero glanced over briefly, then returned his attention to his sandwich-making. "Of course."
"It's glued together." Indeed, it looked like it had broken into two large pieces and two small pieces at some point.
"It had an accident."
"Why are you keeping it around?" Perhaps it was still capable of holding its liquid, and in fact, Duo was fairly certain Heero must have tested it before declaring the job done, but the epoxy probably wasn't food-grade.
"I keep it around because it was a gift from you, not because I can drink out of it."
"Oh." Duo studied the mug for a minute. "Why do you keep it in the cabinet?"
"It's a cup. Where else would I keep it?"
"It's not a cup if you can't drink out of it."
"Then it's a...?"
Duo held the mug up and eyed it dramatically from different angles. "It's a... token of my affection. Or possibly a modernist sculpture in the shape of a mug."
Heero started putting his sandwich substrates away. "I see. And the appropriate location for this item is...?"
"Well, obviously, a place of great honor."
"Uh-huh." Heero looked pointedly around his apartment. He preferred not to have much in the way of clutter, and therefore did not have any furniture whose sole purpose was to display clutter. "And that would be where, exactly?"
Duo flashed him a grin. "I'll think of something."
Heero thought nothing more of the matter until he went into his bedroom at the end of the day and found the mug leaning comfortably against his pillows on his side of the bed, blankets tucked lovingly around it. He chuckled to himself and removed it to the bedside table.
