Summer's Solstice Part 3

Heero sighed and snuggled his face deeper into his nice warm pillow. He couldn't remember being more happy in his life despite the fact he felt kinda grimy and his muscles were sore especially his wrists and...?

'What the?' He thought silently realizing with growing horror that he was:

1. Naked

2. Not alone

3. He didn't really want to think why his ass was sore.

He could have almost cried. He loved Duo how could he have just... then remembering exactly why he wasn't suppose to sleep with anyone during that special time of year he groaned. Great how was he going to tell a perfect stranger...

"Hee-Chan, ga sameru. (wake up)"

Wait a second he knew that voice whispering in his ear. Duo? Oh no they must have... groaning he opened his eye's and stared straight into Duo's lovely violet blue orbs.

"D... Duo, I'm sorry."

"Why?" came the confused reply.

"I... last night I tried to warn you to stay away. But it looks like I forced you any way."

"Ano... um I wasn't exactly tied up."

"It doesn't matter. You just don't realize it yet. I guess I owe it to you to explain."

"Wow Hee-chan, your awfully talkative today so what were ya just frustrated before?"

"Duo no baka. Please, I have to explain."

Seeing the serious expression in his eyes Duo stopped smiling his face becoming serious.

"You noticed how strong I am right."

"Yeah."

"How fast I am? The fact I always survive self-destructs?"

"Yes."

"That's because I'm not human."

"..."

"My mother was Odin Lowe's sister...she killed herself when I was three. My father was a fairy. It's from him that I get my unique abilities and my weakness."

"..."

"Odin warned me about it once I hit puberty once a year if there is a full moon on the shortest night of the year I go into a sort of 'heat' you dealt with the effects of it last night. It renders me completely vulnerable to anyone who comes along and once they look at me, they experience it too. There is no way you can turn away after that. I only experienced it once before when I was twelve. Fortunately, I knew what would happen and hid in the basement of J's lab till morning. The effects are gone by then."

"..."

"And that's not the worst of it. The main reason all this happens is the bonding. It ties two people together until the next heat. Nothing can break the bond not even death. If one of us dies the other would follow. Not to mention we have to spend every night together or we'll both go through worse pain then you can imagine. Duo I'm so sorry..."

Giving him a hard look Duo muttered.

"You should be."

Heartbroken Heero murmured, "I..."

"It's really pitiful Heero Yuy. If you regretted doing what we did last night you just had to say so. You didn't have to lie. I hate liars. I mean fairies? Unbreakable bonds? That's not even slightly believable."

And on that note he stood and left to go to take a shower not noticing the cobalt eyes sparkling with tears behind him.
